By Alan Wagstaff. By Traditional. Arranged by Alan Wagstaff. Celtic,Folk,Historic,Irish,Multicultural,Traditional,World. 4 pages. Alan Wagstaff #1027344. Published by Alan Wagstaff (A0.1447560).

This traditional, popular shanty has been arranged by Alan Wagstaff for a folksy ensemble of bass, medium voice, accordion, fiddle, and flute.

'Away, Santiana!', known under several other titles, is a sea shanty referring to the Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna. The song dates from at least the 1850s, and might have been inspired by topical events related to conflicts between the armies of Mexico, commanded by Santa Anna, and the U.S., commanded by Zachary Taylor, in the Mexican–American War.The lyrics are not historically accurate.
