Jarabe Tapatío, the Mexican hat dance, is the national dance of Mexico. It originated as a courtship dance in Guadalajara. The standard music of the jarabe tapatío was composed by Jesús González Rubio in the 19th century. It is arranged here as a violin duet for intermediate players.  The melody is traded back and forth between the violins, and in performance, it is fun for the players and audience if a competitive stance is taken between players, much like Dueling Banjos.
