Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1181059 By Jonas Hocherman. By Jonas Hocherman. Arranged by Jonas Hocherman. Chamber,Contemporary,Latin,Multicultural,Traditional,World. 28 pages. Jonas Hocherman #780890. Published by Jonas Hocherman (A0.1181059). The piece Entardecer in Nazaré da Mata for trombone octet, is a dreamlike journey about the richness of colors of Pernambuco music in carnival. Although much of the piece is based on the rhythm of maracatu de baque virado, this piece was composed from the memories on the day I went to Nazaré da Mata in Pernambuco in the northeast of Brazil to see the arrival of caboclos of the rural maracatu and later, upon arriving in Recife on the same night listen to several other rhythms such as Afoxé,  Coconut, Frevo, Caboclinho, Forró.   This piece has very melodic moments sounding like a beautiful trombone choir and has some very rhythmic moments. Maracatú is a traditional rhythm of Pernambuco and is characterized by being very rhythmic. Despite being traditionally in compass 4/4, this song was written in the 3/4 compass, being a kind of style stylization. The difficulty of this rhythm is that it needs to be very precise, can not leave the music behind, the breaks of semicolcheias has to be very in time.

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1314114 Composed by David Ahrens. 21st Century,Advent,Christian,Christmas,Holiday. 74 pages. Baseline Music Publishing #902847. Published by Baseline Music Publishing (A0.1314114). Composer's web store: https://www.sounded.us/baseline/product/merry-dont-you-know-by-david-ahrens-wind-band/“God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen†is a traditional English Christmas carol dating to the mid 17th Century. It was referenced by Charles Dickens in his 1843 novella “A Christmas Carol†but with the lyric:“God bless you, Merry Gentleman!May nothing you dismay!â€The phrase “God rest you merry†historically meant “may God grant you peace and happinessâ€. “Rest you merry†was used both in Shakespeare’s “As You Like It†and “Romeo and Julietâ€. Over time, there has been confusion over this title due to changes in common language usage. The word ‘merry’ is an adverb of rest and not an adjective of Gentlemen.“Pat-A-Pan†is a traditional Burgundian French Christmas carol written by Bernard de La Monnoye and published in 1720. The text calls for the bringing of a drum and flute to play for newborn Jesus Christ in worship. The title is onomatopoeic for the sound of a drum, as is the additional lyric “tu-re-lu-re-lu†for the sound of a flute.“Yigdal†is a Jewish hymn and prayer that is a poetic adaptation of Maimonides’ 13 principles of faith. The text is attributed to 14th century poet Daniel ben Judah. The melody dates to the 17th century or earlier. It is traditionally sung for morning prayer and as the conclusion of Shabbat evening services. Upon hearing Yigdal, English Methodist Thomas Olivers adapted this melody for use in his Christian hymn “The God of Abraham Praiseâ€, which is a paraphrase of the ben Judah doxology, and was first published in 1772.“Merry! Don’t You Know?†is a playful melding of these sacred songs, acting as a reminder that Christmas is a time to be merry and joyful as we celebrate the nature, power, and love of God.

Sandy McIntire #720513. Published by Sandy McIntire (A0.1119104). THE COVENTRY CAROL is an English Christmas carol and Christmas lullaby from the 16th century that was traditionally performed in Coventry, England. This carol refers to the Massacre of the Innocents, when Herod ordered the killing of Jewish baby boys. It has a simple tune in a minor key using a Picardy Third which is the inclusion of the relative major chord in this case at the end of two phrases. Arranged as an INTERMEDIATE PIANO solo in the minor keys of A and F, it provides a lovely carol for Christmas services and programs.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1307911 Composed by traditional pre-18th century English Christmas carol. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. Celtic,Christmas,Folk,Irish,Standards. 23 pages. Scott S. Stewart #897170. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.1307911). “Gloucestershire Wassailâ€, is an old song, sung around the Feast of Yule, by parties who go about dressed with boughs and ribbons, carrying a bowl, which they expect to be filled with beer or cider, and a toast put therein.  It is still customary in many parts of England to hand round the wassail, or health-bowl, on New Year’s Eve. The tune of this song is traditional popular music of the day – a universal favourite (tune) in Gloucestershire.  This arrangement of “Gloucestershire Wassailâ€, traditionally strophic in structure, has been changed to a rondo form with the original popular tune serving as the refrain or chorus and the text of the many verses serving as just that – a verse, giving emphasis to the text as sung by carousing, rural merry-makers to their feudal lords.  It is scored for a 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment.  Performance time: 4:55+-.
