Small Ensemble Piano Accompaniment,Piccolo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.983165 Composed by Craig Wadley. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards. Score and parts. 10 pages. Wadley Publications #3044195. Published by Wadley Publications (A0.983165). A beautiful lyric essay for piccolo (or flute) and piano utilizing nontraditional harmonies and modalities. While the technical requirements of the piece are of only intermediate difficulty, the demand for musical expression is high for both the soloist and accompanist. Trust is written as a musical meditation on Psalm 143, verses 1-11.  These verses from the Bible underscore one of the basic (yet sometimes uncomfortable) truths of human existence:  we need help.  People often find it difficult to trust in anyone or anything other than  themselves, but no matter how much we may desire complete independence and  autonomy, human beings are simply not equipped to weather the storms life  brings on our own.  The difficulties of  life can in fact make us feel isolated and deserted. Our culture’s celebration  of strength and independence silently imply that we are weak if we are unable  to stand alone, yet it is during troubling times, when we are totally incapable  of moving forward on our own, that we find our greatest strength in embracing a helping hand.
Trust. (Psalm 143)

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1320692 Composed by Aaron Corley. 21st Century,Classical,New Age. Score. 3 pages. Transdimensional Music #909174. Published by Transdimensional Music (A0.1320692). 'Stumbling Fingers' is an atonal piano solo approximately 2:17 in duration. Sometimes, I like to experiment with nontraditional composing methods. To create this piece, for example, I took the melodic rhythm of a well-known (public domain) work by another composer and changed each pitch using a twelve-sided die. I set the notes and C above middle C (C5) and then went up or down the scale in half-steps based on what I rolled. After a little tweaking, I added the accompaniment from another source (also well-known and in the public domain), 'Stumbling Fingers' is the end result.

Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.939663 Composed by Richard St. Clair. 20th Century. 9 pages. Richard St. Clair #3000385. Published by Richard St. Clair (A0.939663). A modern-day romantic style setting of William Wordsworth's 1798 poem, A Night-Piece for mezzo-soprano with piano accompaniment. Duration about 5 minutes. The style is mostly tonal but with some nontraditional harmonies. The attached MP3 Audio Clip is computer-generated.Lyrics:A NIGHT-PIECEby William Wordsworth THE sky is overcast With a continuous cloud of texture close, Heavy and wan, all whitened by the Moon, Which through that veil is indistinctly seen, A dull, contracted circle, yielding light So feebly spread, that not a shadow falls, Chequering the ground--from rock, plant, tree, or tower. At length a pleasant instantaneous gleam Startles the pensive traveller while he treads His lonesome path, with unobserving eye 10 Bent earthwards; he looks up--the clouds are split Asunder,--and above his head he sees The clear Moon, and the glory of the heavens. There, in a black-blue vault she sails along, Followed by multitudes of stars, that, small And sharp, and bright, along the dark abyss Drive as she drives: how fast they wheel away, Yet vanish not!--the wind is in the tree, But they are silent;--still they roll along Immeasurably distant; and the vault, 20 Built round by those white clouds, enormous clouds, Still deepens its unfathomable depth. At length the Vision closes; and the mind, Not undisturbed by the delight it feels, Which slowly settles into peaceful calm, Is left to muse upon the solemn scene. 1798.

Small Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596601 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary,Instructional. Score and parts. 7 pages. Juan Maria Solare #6057663. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596601). Los ñoquis del veintinueve   – The Gnocchi of the Twenty-Ninth –   by Juan María Solare Audio: https://soundcloud.com/mihovilcevic/juan-maria-solare-los-noquis/s-bOICUjXTDyS Comments   The order of these 29 numbers is rigorously random, as is the election of the six sizes of the fonts (12, 16, 20, 24, 28 and 32 picas).   In order to determinate both dimensions I used the program I-Ching by Andrew Culver (assistant to John Cage in the '80 and '90), a program that is distributed as shareware in internet (thanks).   The colour version follows the following criterion:   - (a) prime numbers (see green) - (b) multiples of 3 (red) - (c) all other numbers (blue)     ...if it ends up being good music then what matter the procedure involved? (David Cope, New Music Composition, p. 117)     About the expression los ñoquis del 29:   The Italian word gnocchi (gnocchi is plural of gnocco, which meaning is lump) is used in Spanish often as ñoqui or ñoquis.   In the Río de la Plata (Argentina and Uruguay) are traditionally eaten on the 29th of each month, the day before payday, when people has less money. This tradition is called los ñoquis del 29 - the gnocchi of the twenty-ninth.   There are naturally other versions. The most picturesque comes from a legend of the VIIIth century (or even IIIrd century). A young physician called Pantaleon (Panteleimon) lived in Nicosia (Cyprus), who after converting to Christianity, journeyed through the North of Italy. There he practiced miraculous healings due to which he was canonized. In a certain occasion, he asked some Venetian villagers for bread, and they invited him to share their poor table. Grateful, he announced them a year of excellent fishing and harvest. The prophecy was fulfilled. Saint Pantaleon was consecrated –along with Saint Mark– patron of Venice. That episode occurred on a 29th, for this reason that day is recalled with a simple food represented by gnocchi. The accompanying ritual of putting money below the dish represents the yearning of new gift.   Outside the culinary realm, certain Argentine and Uruguayan functionaries are dismissively called ñoquis, because they only go to work at the end of the month, to justify their salary or simply to cash in for a not fulfilled work. This meaning was spread since the 1970's.   Premiere: Luis Mihovilcevic, Saturday 25 October 2008, Centro Cultural Islas Malvinas, La Plata (Argentina). * JMS * DonSolare@gmail.com *https://soundcloud.com/mihovilcevic/juan-maria-solare-los-noquis/s-bOICUjXTDyS

Concert band - Grade 1 - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CBW184-S Composed by Daniel Jones. Score. 14 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CBW184-S. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBW184-S). 9 x 12 in inches.Dorian Blues provides for a wealth of fun, yet educational musical moments for young musicians. Directors will have the opportunity to discuss modes, blues scales, and medieval plainchant. The piece mixes quasi-Dorian and blues scales and is grounded around the pitch concert D; therefore, the piece is largely in d-minor, a highly accessible key for emerging musicians. Students will have the opportunity to perform a variety of articulations, rhythms, accidentals and tempi. In addition, the numerous texture and mood changes will challenge the musicianship skills of the performers. The syncopated rhythms and quarter-note triplets will also provide for excellent teachable moments. The use of medieval modes in jazz certainly isn't a new concept as artists like Miles Davis utilized Dorian in So What, and John Coltrane as well in Impressions. Traditionally, modes have been found in instrumental music for centuries as seen in Sibelius' 6th Symphony, and more recently employed in wind band examples for students such as Elliot del Borgo's Dorian Rhapsody. Dorian Blues, however, is perhaps the first piece for young band that combines medieval chant on D Dorian with jazz-like rhythms and blue-notes.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1402959 Composed by Robert A. Howard. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival. 95 pages. Robert A. Howard #986178. Published by Robert A. Howard (A0.1402959). This Second String Quartet is in four movements, and runs to over 30 minutes long. The work uses the traditionally expected forms for each movement, as a framework or starting point for departure, but also uses a conceptual title for the work as a whole. In this case 'Locomotion', or the conveying of motion (especially with regards to train travel), was used as a compositional stimulus in creating extended pattern-based textures, as well as the development, or journey, of motifs and themes. Otherwise, there is no particular attempt to evoke the sound of particular modes of transportation, or certain landscapes or scenes. Such imagery is left at the discretion of the listener. Formally, the work begins with a loose sonata form first movement, based around E (modal minor). The second movement, on A, bears the hallmarks of a busy scherzo, while the sentimental slow movement in D minor that follows is based on ground basses, in a ternary form of two varied themes. The extended finale grows out of the previous movement, with a jig-like rondo theme on another ground bass. Contrasting episodes feature modulating material, as well as a secondary theme in C. The final section sees a cyclic return of the first movement's first theme, now at the finale's faster tempo, and in the closing key of G minor. The work as a whole sees much use of canonic, or heterophonic textures, within a broadly minimalist style.  Duration: 32 minutes.Registered with PRS (Performing Rights Society, UK).Composer's website: www.roberthowardmusic.co.uk
