Prologue-Greeting : This is a short song with a bright atmosphere in d minor in 3/4 time.2mov. Oriental Flute : In G major in 4/4 time, the natural harmonics of string instruments are partially used to describe the sound of oriental flute.  3mov. Cheerfulness : In D major in 8/12 time, tried to express Korean joy by using our traditional rhythms, Kutkuri Jajinmori  4mov. Sorrow : In 3/4 time G major, not in minor, but in major, expressing deep sorrow. 5mov. Since 2004, his compositions have been periodically performed by I Musici. His compositions have also been performed and recorded by the Vienna Waltz Orchestra, in Austria, the French Chamber Orchestra in France, and the Sophia Chamber Orchestra in Russia. Mr. Kim is a former Dean of Changwon National University’s College of Performing Arts. Currently he teaches student as Emeritus professor of Changwon National University.

Published by Han-Ki Kim (A0.561517). “Korean Simple Suite†No.3 For Piano Trio Op.273D “Happy Wedding†It is a work depicting the wedding ceremony of the bride and groom held in a traditional Korean front yard and the surrounding scenery. as far as melody is concerned, the traditional five notes of Korea, “Do.re.mi.sol.la.†are mainly used. It consists of five movements as follows: 1. The Front Yard 2. Yeonji Gonzi 3. Joyful Dance 4. Waiting (Longing) 5. The Bride and Groom Movement 1, The Front Yard: In G minor in 8/12 time, it is a short song with a bright atmosphere. The front yard is a friendly place for villagers' gatherings and events. Movement 2, Yeonzi – Gonzi: In G major in 4/4 time, natural harmonics are used to describe the mysterious oriental atmosphere. The meaning of Yeonji Gonji is the red dot on the cheeks and forehead of the bride in a traditional wedding ceremony. Movement 3, Joyful Dance: 3/4 time B flat major, composed in ABA format, expressed the joy of dancing in Korea. Movement 4, Longing: In G minor in 6/4 time, we tried to express oriental waiting. Movement 5, The Bride and Groom : It is composed of 4/4 time and 6/4 time, and like the title of the title of Groom and Bride, it shows the contrasting character of liveliness and calm. It was composed in a rondo style that goes back and forth between D minor and F major. Attached musicfile is only 1st movement, it's just for a reference.

Published by Polar Publications (A0.757442). This work was commissioned by Ron Inyoue for the Arctic Winer Games in Fairbanks, Alaska 2014. When Ron Inouye first discussed a fanfare for the Arctic Winter Games to be held in Fairbanks in 2014, he asked me to somehow represent the peoples of the north and to include something of native drumming, particularly, Inuit drumming. Since the fanfare is for the games, it needs to be able to be used in its entirity or in parts depending on how much time or the purpose of the fanfare in a given situation. This fanfare is therefore composed with three distinct sections that can be used separately or together depending on the circumstance. The Opening four measures of the brass is reminiscent of much of my music representing the Aurora Borealis. The Drumming is inspired by Inuit and Yupik drumming. I use the two different types of drum and blend the drumming style of the Yupik and Inuit cultures in a bit of a western context. The Yupik tradition of hard beat and soft beat is represented in the dynamics of the drums. The Inuit tradition of establishing the steady beat and then passing rhythmic patterns between the parts is represented throughout the work in all of the drum parts. There is a nod to Athabascan old time fiddle music in the choice of an Irish/Scotish traditional melody entitled The Far North. This is also a traditional Canadian Northern Tier American camping and scouting song. Finally, there is a traditional Fanfare that can be used independently to call people to an event or back from an intermission. It is my sincere hope that this fanfare represents all of us in some way and leaves enough to the listener, that they will relate their own experience of the North in the music they hear.
