Flute Choir,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Flute,Bass Flute,Piccolo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1505295 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by James-Michael Sellers. Christmas,Holiday. 24 pages. JMS Composer #1080678. Published by JMS Composer (A0.1505295). This unique arrangement of Pat-a-pan reimagines the traditional French carol as a lively sea shanty for flute choir, bringing a fresh, nautical twist to the beloved tune. The piece captures the rhythmic drive and communal spirit of a sea shanty, while maintaining the charm and playfulness of the original carol, making it an exciting journey across the waves of sound. To accommodate varying ensembles, Flute 1 and Alto Flute parts include optional ossia passages, ensuring that the main melodic material can be effectively covered in the absence of a Piccolo. This flexibility allows for a seamless performance, preserving the dynamic essence of the arrangement.

Patapan is a traditional Burgundian Christmas Carol arranged by Alan Bullard for choir in three parts (S.A.Bar.) and pianoThis lively carol welcomes Jesus’ birth with instruments and voices, with an arrangement that hints at the sound of the fife and the drum, and provides a not-too-challenging tongue-twister in the refrain! It may be sung by a three-part SABar choir, but as there are occasional optional divisions in the baritone part, it may also be sung by an SATB choir. Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797756 Composed by Bernard de la Monnoye. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Baroque,Christmas. Score and parts. 17 pages. Derek Hasted #4836609. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797756). PATAPAN - traditional carol - 4 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLE For Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar. There are TWO ARRANGEMENTS in this one edition.Derek Hasted writes This Burgundian Carol, first published in 1720, usually has four verses in the French version and three in the English. This arrangement has three verses, all in slightly different styles. The melody and the onomatopoeia in the lyrics are together meant to symbolise the fife (ā€œTure-lure-luā€) and the drum (ā€œPata-pata-panā€).In both arrangements Guitar One has melody, and it fits nicely in a mix of IV and V position. There is no fingering, because your ensemble might want to choose between two different approaches...A less experienced ensemble might prefer to venture up the neck just to reach for the A and B notes, and return to the first position as soon as possible...A more experienced group might want to stay up the neck to get a more rounded tone throughout. Depending on your choice of fingering, slurs might be possible to improve the flow. There are two versions of the lower parts. In the first arrangement, in ā€œSATBā€ style, Guitar 4 plays the bass; Guitar 3 provides, in the three verses, percussion, a choral countermelody, and finally a Hurdy-Gurdy style drone; Guitar provides a countermelody. In the second arrangement, the roles rotate at the end of each verse, so that all the accompanying players have three very different verses to play. Guitar 1 stays with the tune, because in a mixed ability ensemble, moving the tune about tends to highlight any weaknesses. This arrangement highlights the strengths!Percussion (the X-headed notes) works well if you tap the guitar near the bridge to get a deep bass drum.At the end, the brave amongst you can shout ā€œPatapanā€ to bring the piece to a surprise conclusion...I hope you enjoy this piece!

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1314114 Composed by David Ahrens. 21st Century,Advent,Christian,Christmas,Holiday. 74 pages. Baseline Music Publishing #902847. Published by Baseline Music Publishing (A0.1314114). Composer's web store: https://www.sounded.us/baseline/product/merry-dont-you-know-by-david-ahrens-wind-band/ā€œGod Rest You Merry, Gentlemenā€ is a traditional English Christmas carol dating to the mid 17th Century. It was referenced by Charles Dickens in his 1843 novella ā€œA Christmas Carolā€ but with the lyric:ā€œGod bless you, Merry Gentleman!May nothing you dismay!ā€The phrase ā€œGod rest you merryā€ historically meant ā€œmay God grant you peace and happinessā€. ā€œRest you merryā€ was used both in Shakespeareā€™s ā€œAs You Like Itā€ and ā€œRomeo and Julietā€. Over time, there has been confusion over this title due to changes in common language usage. The word ā€˜merryā€™ is an adverb of rest and not an adjective of Gentlemen.ā€œPat-A-Panā€ is a traditional Burgundian French Christmas carol written by Bernard de La Monnoye and published in 1720. The text calls for the bringing of a drum and flute to play for newborn Jesus Christ in worship. The title is onomatopoeic for the sound of a drum, as is the additional lyric ā€œtu-re-lu-re-luā€ for the sound of a flute.ā€œYigdalā€ is a Jewish hymn and prayer that is a poetic adaptation of Maimonidesā€™ 13 principles of faith. The text is attributed to 14th century poet Daniel ben Judah. The melody dates to the 17th century or earlier. It is traditionally sung for morning prayer and as the conclusion of Shabbat evening services. Upon hearing Yigdal, English Methodist Thomas Olivers adapted this melody for use in his Christian hymn ā€œThe God of Abraham Praiseā€, which is a paraphrase of the ben Judah doxology, and was first published in 1772.ā€œMerry! Donā€™t You Know?ā€ is a playful melding of these sacred songs, acting as a reminder that Christmas is a time to be merry and joyful as we celebrate the nature, power, and love of God.
