Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792784 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Ralph Sauer. Baroque,Classical,Renaissance. Score and parts. 48 pages. Gordon Cherry #6434581. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792784). Ralph Sauer has taken the final two sections of Bach's great organ composition Toccata, Adagio and Fugue in C major, BWV 564, and beautifully arranged them for 8-part Trombone Ensemble. It is about 9-minutes in length and appropriate for advanced performers. The Adagio is in two sections. The first is almost cheerful in its minor key, but the 2nd part Grave is very dark and brooding. It was used during a satanic ritual scene in the 1934 Karloff/Lugosi film The Black Cat.The Fugue is in 4-voices in 6/8 and bounces along nicely till its dramatic ending.

Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792591 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Ed Hayes. 20th Century,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 11 pages. Gordon Cherry #5010309. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792591). Dvorak's theme of the Largo from his New World Symphony is one of the most recognizable melodies in the entire classical literature. He wrote the melody because he was inspired by the folk music he heard in America: In the Negro melodies of America I discover all that is needed for a great and noble school of music. Dvorak made use of the pentatonic scale which he found evident in both the Native-American and African-American peoples' music. Ed Hayes in collaboration with Frank Harmantas has written an inspired 3-minute arrangement of Dvorak's movement for a six-part Trombone ensemble, which can be performed by advanced and high intermediate performers.

Large Ensemble Organ,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811149 Composed by Giuseppe Verdi. Arranged by David Fetter. Classical,Opera,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 23 pages. Gordon Cherry #5734409. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.811149). Va, pensiero, also known as the Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves is from the opera Nabucco written in 1842 and has one of the mostly recognizable melodies in the Classical repertoire. It recollects the period of Babylonian captivity after the loss of the First Temple in Jerusalem and was inspired by Psalm 137. Some scholars have thought that the chorus was intended to be an anthem for Italian patriots trying to unify their country. (Wikipedia) David Fetter has beautifully arranged this powerful work for 6-part Trombone Ensemble and Organ (the organ adds immense depth to the sound) for intermediate performers (all in bass clef, very moderate range).

Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792563 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Ronald Barron. 20th Century,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 16 pages. Gordon Cherry #5008585. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792563). The Evening-Watch was written in 1925, when Holst lived in Thaxted, England having had to temporarily leave his teaching duties because of overwork and illness. This setting of Henry Vaughan’s ‘Dialogue between the Body and the Soul’ was too  austere for listeners of its day and it remained out of print for thirty years, until 1965. Its mood of calm strength and passionate resignation sounds as if it belongs to the 1960’s.  This beautiful arrangement for 8-part trombone choir by Ronald Baron seems altogether appropriate given the instrument’s vocal character, its frequent use for music at funerals and Holst’s other musical passion; his short career as a trombonist. The 4 minute piece is appropriate for moderately advanced performers.

Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811262 Composed by Traditional German Christmas Carol. Arranged by Kevin Dombrowski. Christmas,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 12 pages. Gordon Cherry #6629193. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.811262). Maria durch ein Dornwald ging (Maria walks Among the Thorns) is a German Advent carol first found in 1850 in a collection of hymns. The theme of the thorns is a symbol of fertility and death. The rose bush with the thorns comes to life and begins to bloom during the birth of the divine child. This lovely song of about 3 minutes in length has been beautifully arranged for 8-part Trombone Choir by Kevin Dombrowski and is appropriate for moderate to advanced performers.

Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1043837 Composed by Jim Hopson. Contemporary. Score and parts. 26 pages. Gordon Cherry #648523. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1043837). Jim Hopson's Futility in Seven Positions for Trombone Ensemble and Narrator is a pithy work of about 4 minutes for advanced performers. It is comprised of four movements: 1. Way of the Blade, a Presto movement with lots of glisses that runs headlong into a quote from the Tommy Dorsey signature melody. 2. Book Learnin' a sarcastic rant on the rigidity of school homework. 3. Courting Disaster a great joke told by the narrator over a rhythmic bass line. 4. Disco featuring the Tuba Mirum solo over a groovin' Disco line. All the above is just fun and games tongue firmly planted in cheek including a final gasp quoting Ravel's Bolero.

Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792400 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Markey, James. 20th Century,Christian,Gospel,Spiritual. Score and parts. 32 pages. Gordon Cherry #4820387. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792400). Joshua F’it de Battle of Jericho is a well-known African-American spiritual, most likely composed by slaves in the early 19th century. Early versions used the word f’it for fought. The words harken to the biblical story of the Battle of Jericho, where Joshua led the Israelites to victory against Canaanite armies. Put into perspective, Joshua’s battle is really against slavery and the desire for freedom, like the themes of so many other spirituals from that era. This rousing arrangement in swing-style for 8-part Trombone ensemble by James Markey is about two minutes in length, featuring the 1st and 8th parts and is for advanced performers.
