Brass Ensemble Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1005663 Composed by J. S. Bach (1685-1750). Arranged by Rudy Volkmann. Concert. Score and parts. 5 pages. Rudy Volkmann #6384137. Published by Rudy Volkmann (A0.1005663). This is one of my favorites.  I chose adapted, rather than arranged because in order to make it playable I had to leave out a few notes (carefully chosen) in order to give the brass players a spot or two to breathe.  For the real 'horses, the written arrangement leaves these in with the breaths notes in parenthesis; the mp3 audio file leaves them out.  The Sinfonia (three-part inventions) of J. S. Bach were written as keyboard teaching pieces for his children.  As such, most pianists whir through them at often blistering tempi, often obscuring the wonderful music contained therein.  This adaptation suggests a much more moderate tempo, and allows the timbre of the three instruments to differentiate the three voices and the wonderful counterpoint which makes up the piece.  This is a great recital piece or concert opener.

Jazz Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: AX.00-PC-0016211_TN2 2nd Trombone. Composed by Albany Bigard, Duke Ellington, and Irving Mills. Arranged by Vince Gassi. Instructional. Part. 2 pages. Alfred Music - Digital Sheet Music #00-PC-0016211_TN2. Published by Alfred Music - Digital Sheet Music (AX.00-PC-0016211_TN2). UPC: 038081417301.This medium swing arrangement of the dreamy Ellington tune will cook at just about any tempo (though the recommended tempo is 108 BPM). The chart features a written tenor sax solo and a lot of interplay between the brass and saxes. It even has a 4-bar stop-time section for a rhythmic contrast. The Duke would be pleased that you're playing one of his songs on your next concert program.

Arranged in two keys for flexibility by arranger Dave Wolpe, it's a bright swing vehicle for vocalist and big band at around 160 BPM. The low key is F with vocal range from A below middle C to 2nd space A, and the high key is A-flat, with vocal range from middle C to 3rd space C, treble clef. Lead trumpet range to written high C. No horn solos, just swingin' ensemble and vocal.
