This excellent blues chart in the Basie style uses the keys of G, A-flat, E-flat, and A-flat. The written solos for piano, trumpet, and alto sax include changes and fit the style well. The writing includes a great shout chorus and some neat plunger work for the trumpets

About The Piece After on of my close friends passed away I wrote this piece, not no morn her death, but to celebrate her life. It is based off a poem she wrote in high school titled, My Name is Amy It really showed the strength she had even when things looked bleak. 3 trumpet parts (at least 3 first trumpets).

The melodies in this work are based on my unpublished 1979 setting of The expotition to the North Pole from A A Milne's book Now we are six in the Winnie the Pooh series (under the title The Poohratorio). Clearly the Poohratorio itself cannot yet be published due to copyright on the text, but the melodies that it inspired have led to various pieces including a Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis (Canticula Ursae Minoris) and various sextets (Songs of a little Bear) including this brass sextet (2 trumpets, 2 trombones and 2 tubas) As suggested in the score, the ideal positioning would be to have all instruments in choir 1 on one side of the stage and all instuments in choir 2 on the other side (ie antiphonally). The pdf file contains score and parts. The sound sample is an electronic preview.

Based on the beautiful melody Jupiter by Gustav Holst, this arrangement is simplistic and designed to be playable by a wide range of skill levels. Utilizing the different timbres of each instrument, the melody starts off with a simple flugelhorn duet stating the opening melody. Piccolo trumpet is then added on top of the flugelhorn harmony, and the piece slowly builds by adding inner voices and instrumentation.
