Thompson in 1880.  It is the most widely known of his compositions and has circulated far beyond its origins in the American Restoration Movement.  It has been sung in several movies, including The Trip to Bountiful.About the arranger:  Brenda Dillon is best known for her contributions to the Recreational Music Making movement.  She served on the RMM Committee that designed the RMM Track for MTNA's Pedagogy Saturday.  She also presented group piano and RMM sessions throughout the U.S.  In addition to serving as a teacher trainer, she has written extensive articles on both group piano and RMM teaching.  She has publications with Hal Leonard and Alfred listed on her website (www.brendadillon.com).

Das thematische Material bildet das Thema der frühen Orgelfuge in as-Moll, der der junge Komponist bereits seine ganze kontrapunktische Meisterschaft zeigt. Die vorliegende „Fanstasie ist mit den Elementen dieses Themas, deren Umkehrung, Vergrößerung und Diminuition weitgehend sehr dicht kontrapunktisch gearbeitet. Es finden sich aber auch für jedes der beiden Instrumente eine kurze Kadenz mit der Möglichkeit einer gewissen Virtuosität und Freiheit. George completed his undergraduate degree at Oberlin Conservatory, and earned his masters and Ph.D. from Michigan State University. He founded the jazz programs at both schools while he was a student. George also founded the jazz program at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp (Muskegon, MI) in 1971 and led that program through 2004. After his retirement from James Madison University, he relocated to Deland, Florida, and led the jazz program at Stetson University until his passing in 2013.
