Neben dem komplexen, dichten Klangbild des 1. Satzes wirkt der 2. Satz sehr gelöst, durchsichtig, farbig. Er besteht aus neun Teilen, die frei aneinandergefügt werden können. Die endgültige Gestalt sowohl der Gesamtform wie auch der Details wird von den Interpreten erst während der Aufführung bestimmt.
