Deep River is an Afro-American Spiritual Song. This version is arranged by David McKeown as a duet for one Oboe and one Cor Anglais (or English Horn).

Deep River was first published in 1917 and quickly became a public favourite. The writer and origin of the song is unknown. In the recording age, Deep River was made famous by Marian Anderson, Paul Robeson and Tommy Dorsey.

In 1882, Tchaikovsky considered creating a concert suite out of numbers from his marvelous ballet Swan Lake, which he had composed six years previously. However, he seems not to have made a final decision, and the authorship of the concert suite published after his death as Op.20a is unknown.

In this arrangement for clarinet quartet (Bb Clarinet 1 or Eb Clarinet, Bb Clarinet 2, Bb Clarinet 3 or Eb Alto Clarinet, Bb Bass Clarinet) we have the very famous ninth number of the suite: Dance of the Swans (Dances des Cygnes). It is suitable for any occasion: repertorie, classroom, recital.

The Londonderry Air is among the best loved melodies of Ireland. This beautiful version is arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Alto Saxophone.

The Londonderry Air was first collected and notated in the mid-nineteenth century in County Londonderry in the North of Ireland, however, the origins of the melody remain unknown. In 1913 the English writer Frederic Weatherley set his poem Danny Boy to the melody. There are many other settings of the Londonderry Air, with various lyrics and in musical styles from orchestral to brass band to jazz, but Danny Boy remains the best known.

Londonderry Air is simply arranged in accessible keys and over a range best suited to the instruments. The melody is played twice with a key change and different accompaniment on the second verse and is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of a little over three minutes, this version of Londonderry Air is perfect for recitals and concert performance.
