Choral Choir (SSA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522227 Composed by Colin Kirkpatrick. A Cappella,Christian,Easter,Sacred. Octavo. 13 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #4408396. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522227). My Song Is Love Unknown is a known best as a hymn by Samuel Crossman, written in 1664. It is predominantly used as a hymn for Good Friday usually in a setting by John Ireland who evidently composed it over lunch one day. This is a completely new SSA setting of Crossman’s wonderful text by Colin Kirkpatrick. In this setting there are opportunities for alto solos though they can be sung tutti if more appropriate. The keyboard part is essential though there is an a capella section in the middle. The highest note in the soprano part is one A flat above the treble staff. This is an accessible arrangement with rich harmonies and soaring melodic lines. It is sure to be a success at Easter occasions. Other SSA titles in this series of three Easter canticles are “Alone Thy goes forth, O Lord (Text by Peter Abelard 1079-1142)†and “A Time to Watch, A time to Pray (Text by John Mason Neale 1818-1866â€. In the audio sample, soprano 1 is played by the flute, soprano 2 by the oboe and alto by the clarinet.
My Song is Love unknown (SSA plus piano or organ)
