Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1200229 By Skeeter Davis. By Arthur Kent and Sylvia Dee. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Pop,Rock,Standards. Score. 6 pages. Timothy Stapay #799031. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1200229). An arrangement of The End Of The World,  a song covered by many famous artists. includingThe Carpenters; thanks to the phenomenal singing of Karen Carpenter.  The End of the World was written by composer Arthur Kent and lyricist Sylvia Dee, who often worked as a team. The Carpenters (officially known as Carpenters were an American vocal and instrumental duo consisting of siblings Karen (1950–1983) and Richard Carpenter (born 1946). They produced a distinctive soft musical style, combining Karen's contralto vocals with Richard's harmonizing, arranging, and composition skills. During their 14-year career, the Carpenters recorded 10 albums along with many singles and several television specials. Karen possessed a powerful singing voice, and close miking brought out many nuances in her performances.  Richard arranged their music to take advantage of this, though Karen had a three-octave vocal range.  Richard's work with Karen was influenced by the music of Les Paul, whose overdubbing of the voice of wife and musical partner Mary Ford allowed her to be used as both the lead and harmony vocals.[6] By multi-tracking, Richard was able to use Karen and himself for the harmonies to back Karen's lead. The overdubbed background harmonies were distinctive to the Carpenters, but it was the soulful, engaging sound of Karen's lead voice that made them so recognizable.  Record executive Mike Curb said it was Karen's voice that took the Carpenters above straight pop music into pop rock.   She was known as a one take wonder and could deliver a strong performance on the first attempt.Richard Carpenter was the creative force behind the Carpenters' sound. An accomplished keyboard player, composer and arranger, music critic Daniel Levitin called him one of the most gifted arrangers to emerge in popular music.  The duo's smooth harmonies were not in step with contemporary music, which was dominated by heavy rock.  Instead, the Carpenters strove for a rich and melodic sound, along the same vein as the Beach Boys and the Mamas & the Papas, but with greater fullness and orchestration including frequent use of small string and horn sections and introspective lyrics centred around relationships.  Richard also admired the musicianship and arranging skills of Frank Zappa, and the two briefly met backstage at the Billboard Forum in 1975.End Of The World: Lyrics:Why does the sun go on shining? Why does the sea rush to shore?Don't they know it's the end of the world?'Cause you don't love me any moreWhy do the birds go on singing? Why do the stars glow above?Don't they know it's the end of the world? It ended when I lost your love[Bridge]I wake up in the morning and I wonderWhy everything's the same as it wasI can't understand, no, I can't understandHow life goes on the way it doesWhy does my heart go on beating? Why do these eyes of mine cry?Don't they know it's the end of the world? It ended when you said goodbyeWhy does my heart go on beating? Why do these eyes of mine cry?Don't they know it's the end of the world? It ended when you

String Quartet Cello,Double Bass,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.746989 By Dizzy Gillespie. By Dizzy Gillespie and Frank Paparelli. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Jazz. 13 pages. Keith Terrett #5820835. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.746989). A great sounding arrangement of A Night in Tunisia, your String Orchestra will love it!A jazz solo is written out for you, if you wish you can improvise on the given chord symbols!A Night in Tunisia is a musical composition written by Dizzy Gillespie around 1941–42, while Gillespie was playing with the Benny Carter band. It has become a jazz standard. It is also known as Interlude. Gillespie called the tune Interlude and said some genius decided to call it 'Night in Tunisia'. He said the tune was composed at the piano at Kelly's Stables in New York. He gave Frank Paparelli co-writer credit in compensation for some unrelated transcription work, but Paparelli had nothing to do with the song. A Night in Tunisia was one of the signature pieces of Gillespie's bebop big band, and he also played it with his small groups. In January 2004, The Recording Academy added the 1946 Victor recording by Gillespie to the Grammy Hall of Fame.On the album A Night at Birdland Vol. 1, Art Blakey introduced his 1954 cover version with this statement: At this time we'd like to play a tune [that] was written by the famous Dizzy Gillespie. I feel rather close to this tune because I was right there when he composed it in Texas on the bottom of a garbage can. The audience laughs, but Blakey responds, Seriously. The liner notes say, The Texas department of sanitation can take a low bow.The complex ostinato bass line in the A section is notable for avoiding the standard walking bass pattern of straight quarter notes, and the use of oscillating half-step-up/half-step-down chord changes (using the Sub V, a tritone substitute chord for the dominant chord) gives the song a unique, mysterious feeling. The B section is notable for having an unresolved minor II-V, since the chord progression of the B section is taken from the B section of the standard Alone Together, causing the V chord to lead back into the Sub V of the A section.Like many of Gillespie's tunes, it features a short written introduction and a brief interlude that occurs between solo sections - in this case, a twelve-bar sequence leading into a four-bar break for the next soloist.

Lever Harp - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1487177 Composed by Traditional Manx. Arranged by Tiffany Schaefer. Folk,Multicultural,World. Score. 3 pages. Tiffany Schaefer #1064148. Published by Tiffany Schaefer (A0.1487177). Long ago, it is said that a mysterious, white-haired man would row up near the town of Dalby on the Isle of Man at the close of summer days, and sing this song. Once the song was finished, the man would row out of sight. The words were never made out, but the townsfolk taught it to their children. This haunting tune is arranged for late elementary harpists, two pages, with chord symbols and plenty of fingering support provided. A downloadable workshop, teaching this arrangement and the companion mid intermediate arrangement, may be found at The Mastering Celtic Music Club, www.patreon.com/tiffanyharpandsong. Sheet music downloads and backlogs are available there as well.

Piano,Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1024003 Composed by Ron Levy. Contemporary. Score and part. 54 pages. Thinkling Music #5733147. Published by Thinkling Music (A0.1024003). I. Da Dee gets its title onomatopoeically from the nursery rhyme-like quality of its opening measures. It is a playground taunt, a nursery rhyme - the Millennial Whoop in augmentation? The movement is in sonata form. II. Waiting for Sunrise emerged from a snippet of melody originally conceived for a solo bassoon piece. (It may show up in my Bassoon Sonata, in another form. I like to reuse and recycle). The way the movement unfolds was inspired perhaps by the grotto scene from Ravel’s Daphnis and Chloe. III. Clown Car The movement opens with a Surprise! gesture - a sort of musical clowning around. The second theme is a mambo bass line accompanying a soaring and hopeful horn line. There is some blues too, before a contemplative coda brings all to a reassuring, if slightly melancholic, close.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1449801 By Mannheim Steamroller. By Mason Williams. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Classical,Jazz,Latin,Pop. 63 pages. John Ivor Holland #1029560. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1449801). Penned by American guitartist and composer Mason Williams in 1968, this track was the follow-up to his most popular piece, 'Classical Gas', which won three Grammy awards. This arrangement draws upon the original recording by Williams and a more expanded version by powerhouse group Mannheim Steamroller, dating from 2012, who occasionally performed the piece alongside each other. The fusion of Baroque-style melody and close harmonies, all over an irrestible Latin beat, make this a great chart for any type of concert but particularly outdoor summer events.

Flute - intermédiaire - Digital Download SKU: ZY.DO-1553 Composed by Kevin Swierkosz-Lenart. Score. 4 pages. Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) #DO 1553. Published by Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) (ZY.DO-1553). Composing for solo flute is a challenge. The only way to come out victorious is to turn limitations into possibilities, to leave to the listener's imagination what the sound cannot return, to play on the strengths-and there are many-of the instrument to which the score is destined. The flute, so archaic and close to human vocality, lends itself perfectly to music that alludes to theatrical aspects. So I decided to take up the request of the talented Italian flutist Michela Podera, and compose a short piece for her, all centered on recitative-flavored etchings, sometimes whispered and sometimes declaimed in a stentorian manner. The immediate source of inspiration was a painting by the Neapolitan painter Vincenzo Laricchia, to whom I owe the poetic mood and title of this work of mine: Masquerade.

Instrumental Duet Bassoon,Instrumental Duet,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.588110 By David Cook. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by David McKeown. Rock. Score and parts. 5 pages. David McKeown #5303255. Published by David McKeown (A0.588110). Eleanor Rigby first appeared on the Beatles’ 1966 album, Revolver. There has been much speculation over the identity of Eleanor Rigby, and a gravestone bearing that name has been discovered close to where Paul McCartney grew up in Liverpool. But Paul McCartney insists that he chose the natural-sounding name as a combination of a friend’s name and a shop he noticed in Bristol. Indeed, the original working title of the song was Miss Daisy Hawkins. This version of Eleanor Rigby is arranged as a duet for one Oboe and one Bassoon. The YouTube sample above is the Clarinet version of this duet.Musicians at an intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes. Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills and expressive playing.  There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203

Piano - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q19046 For piano solo. Composed by Kenneth Hesketh. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 5 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q19046. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q19046). The title of this work is a reference to the poem Ode to a Nightingale by John Keats. Important images from the poem are freely connected to suggest musical gestures and contours. Such phrases as perilous seas and plaintive anthem placed musically alongside each other give the work a continuity not suggested by the original poem. The topography in the last verse of the poem also finds its way into the work: Past the near meadows, over the still stream, Up the hill-side; and now 'tis buried deep The resulting work therefore utilises an organic and associative musical form, one that is dramatic and often capricious in nature. The work evaporates at its close - at Keats' instigation - through the words Fled is that music:- do I wake or sleep?. Through Magic Casements was written for William Cale on the occasion of his final recital at the Royal College of Music. © 2009 KH.
