Bassoon,Instrumental Duet,Oboe - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1073981 Composed by Josquin des Prez. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Contest,Festival,Instructional,Renaissance,Wedding. 50 pages. Jmsgu3 #678247. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1073981). Josquin des Prez (c.1450-1521) was a composer of the Renaissance period, widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time. His compositions set the standard for polyphonic music and are considered a high point in the history of music. He wrote a wide range of works, including masses, motets, and chansons, and was the first composer to set popular secular tunes as mass movements. His influence can be seen in the works of many later composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, and George Frideric Handel.Josquin des Prez was a prolific composer of chamber music and duets during the Renaissance period. He wrote several types of chamber music and duets, including madrigals, chansons, and motets. His compositions are characterized by their intricate counterpoint, as well as their harmonic richness and emotional expressiveness. His works often featured two voices in harmony, and he was known to use imitation and complex canonic techniques to create interesting musical textures. Josquin's chamber music and duets are renowned for their complexity and beauty, and they remain some of the most influential and admired works from the Renaissance period.Josquin Desprez is widely regarded as one of the most influential composers of the Renaissance period. His innovative use of counterpoint and canon helped to revolutionize the musical landscape of the time. Counterpoint is a technique of combining two or more independent melodies in a way that creates harmony and a cohesive musical texture. Josquin was a master of this technique, often combining multiple voices in complex contrapuntal textures. His use of canon, or round, was also highly influential. Canon involves two or more voices repeating the same melody in different registers and often with different rhythms. Josquin wrote canons in various styles and forms, including the popular “circular canon†and the more complex “strict canon.†He was also an early adopter of the “inverted canon†form, in which the same melody is repeated but in an inverted form. Josquin’s use of counterpoint and canon had a lasting impact on the development of Western music and helped to establish the foundation for many of the musical forms and techniques still used today.Contents: I. String Quartet Cello,String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1310534 Composed by Jacques Offenbach. Arranged by Clara Obsidian. 19th Century,Romantic Period. 15 pages. Clara Obsidian #899596. Published by Clara Obsidian (A0.1310534). Orpheus in the Underworld, or Orpheus in Hell are English names for Orphée aux enfers, the comic opera written by Jacques Offenbach. The Overture, also known as the 'Can-can dance' or 'Infernal Galop', was popularized when groups like Moulin Rouge and the Folies Bergère adopted it as their dance set piece.A little fun fact! The overture was not actually writted by Offenbach! It is a giant collage of many themes, in which Jupiter's minuet and John Styx's song recur, and also including J'ai vu le Dieu Bacchus, the couplets Je suis Vénus, the Rondeau des métamorphoses, the Partons, partons section of the Act 2 finale, and the Act 4 galop. It was actually arranged by Austrian musician Carl Binder for the Opera's first production in 1860The arrangement for Cello Quartet features 4 parts that play equal importance to the music, with Ossia included for a variation of difficulty.Full Score and Parts---------------------.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1077471 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 53 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #681663. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1077471). I set my first Christina Rossetti poem back in 1998 for my song cycle, Love Songs. The poem A Birthday begins with the most delightful set of words, My heart is a like a singing bird ... Looking for something to set for my next song cycle I rediscovered Christina via his brother, the poet and painter, Dante Gabriel Rossetti. IMHO, he is much more brilliant as a painter, and his sister is the true genius poet!!! Christina's father emigrated to England from Italy in 1824. Consequently, all four children (Maria, Dante, William and Christina) spoke Italian at home when they were young. To my delight many of Christina's early poems are in Italian. And since I am an insufferable Italophile, this song cycle will consist only of her poems in Italian. I. Versi II. Amore e Dovere III. Amore e Dispetto IV. L'Uommibatto V. Cuccurucù! VI. Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.886652 Composed by Panagiotis Theodossiou. Christian,Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score. 8 pages. Panagiotis Theodossiou #3048489. Published by Panagiotis Theodossiou (A0.886652). Anakrasis, for piano solo (1999). Written for the final concert of the seminar Piano Music of 20th Century by pianist Efi Agrafioti the work is dedicated to her. It follows the intervallic symmetry of Paraklisis (1991) for clarinet solo but in a more free way and with the use of traditionally tonic elements. Here the composer taking advantage of the particular sonority of different regions of the instrument, attempts to « describe » the anakrasis the transubstantiation of the consecrated bread and wine to body and blood of Jesus Christ in the ritual of the Holly Mass. The performance took place the same year by the composer in the final concert of the seminar at Athens Cultural Centre, recorded as well by the Hellenic Radio Television and came up on a CD production by MOTIVO under the title Piano Works by Greek Composers. It   has also been performed by Valeria Athanasiadou at Athenaeum Concert Hall, Athens in 2002 and by Eleni Papaspyrou in Lillian Voudouri Library Hall, Athens Concert Hall in 2015.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Z-JyNJYKf8

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1028659 Composed by Christian Robert Hendricks. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score. 14 pages. C.R. Hendricks #3664869. Published by C.R. Hendricks (A0.1028659). The first in a series of solo piano works inspired by scenes from literature, The Infernal Whirlwind is both a representation of and reaction to Canto V in Dante's Inferno. Dante and his guide Virgil enter the second level of Hell, where the souls of people who gave into lust are condemned. At first Dante hears but a faint sound of commotion, but upon fully entering the level he encounters a massive tempest of souls being buffeted about. He recognizes some famous figures here and there. Eventually, his attention is drawn to two figures, the primary one being Francesca da Rimini. She tells of how, after reading of Sir Lancelot, she and her brother-in-law allowed themselves to love each other. Dante, deeply moved by the pathos of Francesca's story and disturbed by the continuous whirlwind, faints.Composers such as Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky have been inspired by Francesca da Rimini specifically, but The Infernal Whirlwind is more concerned with what the whirlwind itself represents: the control lust and desire held on these souls, both while living and in the afterlife. The central theme is a twelve-tone row, but the work is not truly serialist in construction or conception: It rather represents the winding, ranging, unsettled nature of passion itself, and of the whirlwind. The piece lasts about 5 minutes, and is for an advanced player. In the beginning it requires use of all three pedals (una corda, sostenuto, sustain). Perhaps the main influence is Liszt, and one could find useful a Lisztian approach to performance.  .
