Choral Choir,Choral (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1389486 By Leonard Cohen. By Leonard Cohen. Arranged by Justin Matthew Starr. Contemporary,Pop,Rock,Standards. 16 pages. J M Starr Music #973074. Published by J M Starr Music (A0.1389486). “Hallelujah†was originally released by Canadian singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen in 1984 on his album Various Positions. This composition, however, is one of the few in history that may be more well-known due to covers of the song than the original version. In 1991, John Cale did a cover of the song that removed the synthesizers, gospel choir, full band, and low, borderline-talking bass voice from Cohen’s original; and replaced it all with a bare-bones piano and tenor voice. It is not difficult to argue that this arrangement of the composition became the definitive version that all future covers would be based on: from Jeff Buckley’s stripped-down guitar and voice 1994 version, to Rufus Wainright’s piano and voice 2001 cover for the soundtrack to the motion picture Shrek, to k.d. lang, the a cappella group Pentatonix, and many, many more. When I first arranged this song in 2010 for my 8th grade SAB choir, I did not know the John Cale version existed; rather, I started by transcribing the Rufus Wainright recording and then made it my own from there. My arrangement is melodically akin to the Wainright, but I added harmonies in various places throughout. Lyric selection was also a choice I had to me, as each version of the song contains a different number of verses. Cohen’s 1984 original had four, and then in 1988 he sang a live version with seven (supposedly he drafted over 80 different verses!). I decided to go with five. This allowed me to structure the song in a way that got feature and give the melody to: a Soloist(s) (verse 1), the Baritones (verse 2), the Altos (verse 3), the Sopranos (verse 4) and then the entire choir (verse 5). Over the years that I have performed this with my students, I couldn’t help myself from rocking out with little bluesy fills and licks in the final choruses, so I decided to write it in. I hope you, your students, and accompanist have fun with that!

Instrumental Duet Flute,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.835162 Composed by Cody Weinmann. Christmas,Concert. Score and parts. 7 pages. Cody Weinmann #6121307. Published by Cody Weinmann (A0.835162). This little Christmas tune takes some cues from the famous Christmas bells. The C-G-A-E theme weaves its way throughout the texture in various guises from legato and striking quarter-note passages between the solo flute and the piano to softer instances over longer note durations. Several eighth and sixteenth note runs will give the flautist a run for their money. All of the frills in this piece are to make this a happy and festive piece for all who play it.DedicationThis work is dedicated to a dear friend from my high school days, Sarah Aplet. Itis an honor to write this piece for her.Cody Weinmann is a prolific composer of many different types and genres of music. These can range from works for solo piano and solo instrument with piano accompaniment to full band, orchestra and choral works. Small Ensemble Cello,English Horn,Oboe,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828699 Composed by Karl Friedrich Abel. Arranged by Guido Menestrina. Classical. Score and parts. 37 pages. Guido Menestrina #119775. Published by Guido Menestrina (A0.828699). Karl Friedrich Abel - Sinfonia Op. 7 n. 1 - Primo Movimento - Allegro Karl Friedrich Abel - Symphony Op. 7 n. 1 - First Movement - Allegro Edited by Guido Menestrina - Full score and single parts for 2 oboe, 2 F Horns (originally cor de chasse), 2 violins, viola and cello (originally basse de violon). Abel was born in Köthen,[3][4] a small German city, where his father, Christian Ferdinand Abel, had worked for years as the principal viola da gamba and cello player in the court orchestra. In 1723 Abel senior became director of the orchestra, when the previous director, Johann Sebastian Bach moved to Leipzig. The young Abel later boarded at Leipzig's Thomasschule, where he was taught by Bach. On Bach's recommendation in 1743 he was able to join Johann Adolph Hasse's court orchestra at Dresden where he remained for fifteen years.[3][5] In 1759 (or 1758 according to Chambers),[1] he went to England and became chamber-musician to Queen Charlotte, in 1764.[3][5] He gave a concert of his own compositions in London, performing on various instruments, one of which was a five-string cello known as a pentachord, which had been recently invented by John Joseph Merlin.[6] In 1762, Johann Christian Bach, the eleventh son of J.S. Bach, joined him in London, and the friendship between him and Abel led, in 1764 or 1765, to the establishment of the famous Bach-Abel concerts, England's first subscription concerts. In those concerts, many celebrated guest artists appeared, and many works of Haydn received their first English performance. For ten years the concerts were organized by Mrs. Theresa Cornelys, a retired Venetian opera singer who owned a concert hall at Carlisle House in Soho Square, then the height of fashionable events. In 1775 the concerts became independent of her, to be continued by Abel and Bach until Bach's death in 1782. Abel still remained in great demand as a player on various instruments new and old. He traveled to Germany and France between 1782 and 1785, and upon his return to London, became a leading member of the Grand Professional Concerts at the Hanover Square Rooms in Soho. Throughout his life he had enjoyed excessive living, and his drinking probably hastened his death, which occurred in London on 20 June 1787.[citation needed] One of Abel's works became famous due to a misattribution: in the 19th century, a manuscript symphony in the hand of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was catalogued as his Symphony no. 3 in E flat, K. 18, and was published as such in the first complete edition of Mozart's works by Breitkopf & Härtel. Later, it was discovered that this symphony was actually the work of Abel, copied by the boy Mozart-evidently for study purposes-while he was visiting London in 1764. That symphony was originally published as the concluding work in Abel's Six Symphonies, Op. 7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN3mtmg-rLI.

Piano,Viola - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549032 Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Holiday,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #3447483. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549032). Schubert's Moment Musicaux is a collection of six short pieces for solo piano composed by Franz Schubert. They are among the most frequently played of Schubert's piano music and have been recorded many times. The Moments Musicaux are supreme examples of Schubert's ability to suggest the subtlest nuances of emotion, which shift and alter literally in a moment. The composition of the Moments was quite sporadic, with the third and sixth movements appearing in various collections of works compiled by publishers in 1823/24 and the complete collection appearing in 1828, the year of Schubert's death. The Moments Musicaux are short pieces, shorter than his Impromptus, and are collected under the opus number 94. They encompass various moods and moderate difficulty, showcasing Schubert's skill in touching different tonal areas within a single movement. Schubert's Moment Musicaux No. 3 is a significant and popular piece. It is described as energetic, playful, and lyrical. The Moments Musicaux are among Schubert's best-loved works, and No. 3 is known for its whimsical merriment.
