Piano,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.726102 Composed by Plainchant melody. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Advent,Christian,Sacred. Score and part. 10 pages. Con Spirito Music #6092177. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726102). “O Come, O Come Emmanuel†are the opening words of John Mason Neale’s (1818-1866) translation of the Medieval text, “Veni, Emmanuel,†with music arranged by Thomas Helmore (1811-1890), for The Hymnal Noted (London, 1856). The text of this most famous of Advent hymns is taken from various “‘O’ Antiphons,†verses sung or recited before and after the Magnificat during the evening Vespers service in the last week of Advent. Each antiphon is a name of Christ, and together they echo the foretelling of the long-expected Messiah by the prophet Isaiah. The origin of the music is uncertain. Some claim it to be from a 15th-century French processionale (hymnal, liturgical manual) for Franciscan nuns; others believe it to be of earlier, eighth-century Gregorian plainsong origins. This arrangement features both traditional and contemporary harmonies and a meditative original introduction prior to the opening presentation of the melody by trombone, which is echoed in countermelodies in later presentations.Includes both bass clef and Bb treble clef solo parts.©Copyright 2020 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.855158 Composed by Latin Christmas Hymn (1710). Arranged by Joseph Pugh. A Cappella,Classical,Concert,Sacred,Standards. Octavo. 14 pages. Joseph Pugh #6321809. Published by Joseph Pugh (A0.855158). O come, O come, Emmanuel (Latin: Veni, veni, Emmanuel) is a Christian hymn for Advent and Christmas. The text was originally written in Latin. It is a metrical paraphrase of the O Antiphons, a series of plainchant antiphons attached to the Magnificat at Vespers over the final days before Christmas. The hymn has its origins over 1,200 years ago in monastic life in the 8th or 9th century. Seven days before Christmas Eve monasteries would sing the O antiphons in anticipation of Christmas Eve when the eighth antiphon, O Virgo virginum (O Virgin of virgins) would be sung before and after Mary’s canticle, the Magnificat (Luke 1:46b-55). The Latin metrical form of the hymn was composed as early as the 12th century. This is the SATB arrangement by, Joseph Pugh for acapella choir.

Cello Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1280451 Composed by St. Thomas Aquinas, 13th Century. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Christian,Early Music,Historic,Medieval,Sacred. Individual part. 2 pages. Jmsgu3 #871859. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1280451). A solo accompaniment for the procession of the Transfer of the Most Blessed Sacrament on Good Friday. Designed to accompany congregational singing.Pange lingua gloriosi corporis mysterium is a Medieval Latin hymn attributed to Saint Thomas Aquinas (1225–1274) for the Feast of Corpus Christi. It is also sung on Maundy Thursday during the procession from the church to the place where the Blessed Sacrament is kept until Good Friday. The last two stanzas (called, separately, Tantum ergo) are sung at Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. The hymn expresses the doctrine that the bread and wine are changed into the body and blood of Christ during the celebration of the Eucharist. It is often sung in English as the hymn Of the Glorious Body Telling to the same tune as the Latin. The hymn is a significant part of the Christian liturgy and is traditionally sung at Vespers and during processions on Corpus Christi and Holy Thursday.
