Violin Duet Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.590101 Composed by Wallis Willis. Arranged by David McKeown. Praise & Worship,Sacred,Spiritual. 4 pages. David McKeown #6141255. Published by David McKeown (A0.590101). Steal Away to Jesus is an American nineteenth century spiritual. This version is arranged as a duet for two Violins. The words and music of Steal Away to Jesus are credited to Wallis Willis, a Native American freedman from Oklahoma. A local minister transcribed the song and within a few years it became a firm gospel favourite. The words have a meaning beyond the spiritual, with hidden references to the Underground Railway of the time that helped escaped slaves cross to Canada. In more recent times Steal Away to Jesus was arranged by Michael Tippett in 1944 and recorded famously by Mahalia Jackson and Nat King Cole. Steal Away to Jesus is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. The song is played several times as a ballad, with ever changing accompaniment. Violin Duet Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.590538 Composed by David McKeown. Holiday,Multicultural,Wedding,World. 4 pages. David McKeown #6212009. Published by David McKeown (A0.590538). Liebe, (German for Love), is a beautiful original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for two Violins. This duet is inspired by the German Baroque style, particularly the slow compound-time compositions of JS Bach and the canonic sonatas written by GP Telemann. Both composers filled their works with deep emotion, transcending the strict musical rules of the period. Liebe is a Canon, with the first part following the second throughout, one bar behind, like lovers in intimate conversation.Liebe is written for players at an intermediate standard and upwards. The melody should always carry momentum and adding plenty of expression will help convey the style. Liebe has a performance time of around three minutes. The Spring Chicken Swing is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for two Violins. The Spring Chicken Swing is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. Swing in the narrow sense defines the rhythmic feel and articulation of jazz music, but the word has come to define the Big Band Jazz era of the ‘30s and’40s and the new-style dances that came with it.The Spring Chicken Swing is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible key and range balanced by the fast tempo, some syncopated rhythms and accidentals. With a playing-time of around one and a half minutes, The Spring Chicken Swing is a perfect upbeat addition to any performance program, formal or informal.
