Trombone Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811111 Composed by Simone Mantia. Arranged by Cherry Classics Music. Instructional. Individual part. 127 pages. Gordon Cherry #5042821. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.811111). Simone Mantia's Trombone Virtuoso was one of the most important method books for the instrument in the mid 20th Century. Many major Trombonists used this book as young artists, finding it added greatly to their progress on the instrument. Mantia's method book covers all clefs, keys and techniques necessary for a sound footing on the Trombone.  Although some of the styles in the book may seem dated, they were in vogue at the time. Mantia performed with the Metropolitan Opera Company for many years and was for quite a while, its Personnel Manager, coming across hundreds of top instrumentalists who migrated  and lived in New York City.  As a young performer, he was also a leading soloist with the Sousa band and toured with it throughout North America.

Piano - intermediate to difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q53316 Composed by Julius Schulhoff. Edited by Robert Schafer and Wilhelm Ohmen. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. 3 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53316. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53316). Julius Schulhoff grew up as the son of wealthy Jewish parents in Prague, where he received piano and music theory lessons. Following his first performances in Dresden and Leipzig, he moved to Paris in the mid-1840s and was active there as a virtuoso pianist. Chopin is said to have shaken his hand after a performance, saying: ‘Vous êtes un vrai artiste, un collègue.’ (You are a true artist, a colleague.) Concert tours in England, Spain and Russia followed. However, over time, he gave up his career as a soloist and devoted himself entirely to teaching and composing, first in Paris, from 1870 in Dresden, later in Berlin, where he was appointed Professor a year before his death. His virtuoso salon music for piano includes a large sonata, studies, caprices, impromptus, nocturnes, waltzes and mazurkas. This short ‘album leaf’ was published by Schott in 1852 (plate number 12059).

5 saxophones (SAATBar) - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q40427 Third movement of the Suite espanola No. 1. Composed by Isaac Albeniz. Arranged by Albert Loritz. This edition: score and parts. Quintett - Saxophon - Bearbeitung. Downloadable, score and parts. Op. 47. Advance Music GmbH - Digital #Q40427. Published by Advance Music GmbH - Digital (S9.Q40427). The Spanish composer and pianist Isaac Manuel Francisco Albéniz’ (y Pascual) fascinating and eventful biography is informatively described in the relevant specialist literature; with a few clicks, though, you might also do some successful research on the internet. Albéniz is considered to be the father of Spanish national music per se. Incorporating rhythms and melodies typical of Spanish folk music, he succeeded in embedding folcloristic elements in virtuoso compositions for the piano. Sevilla is the third movement of the Suite Española No. 1 for Piano, Op. 47. The final version of the suite contains eight characteristic pieces. The title of each one of them refers to a geographical region or city in Spain – including Cuba! The folcloristic and improvisational character of Sevilla results from memorable motifs with characteristic embellishments in the melody, - the imitation of other instruments (guitar, castanets, …) in the setting for piano, asymmetrical phrases, the unexpected appearance of new motifs, noticeable fluctuations in tempo and dynamics, unanticipated modulations, the “faulty†compositional structure (e.g. octave parallels between melody and bass in measure 11), and especially from the rhapsody-like middle part with its virtuoso and at the same time cantabile melody in the upper part. The arrangement presented here is notated one whole tone lower than the original version and has been written according to the proven principle of translating: “as true to the original as possible – as free as necessaryâ€. The movement can be performed as a quintet but also in a choral/orchestral instrumentation. In the latter case, the middle part with the soprano saxophone solo (measures 76 – 79 and measures 104 – 110) is recommended to be executed by five soloists.

Flute and piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q53381 Op. 69. Composed by Giulio Briccialdi. Edited by Edmund Wachter and Elisabeth Weinzierl. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. Op. 69. 17 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53381. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53381). English • German. The Italian Giulio Briccialdi was taught to play the flute chiefly by his father. His virtuoso career began at an early age and he was appointed as flute teacher to the Count of Syracuse in Sicily. On numerous tours his playing drew enthusiastic responses from audiences and critics alike: ‘The only really good flute-player that I have ever seen’, wrote Rockstro in A Treatise on the Flute. In 1871 Briccialdi was appointed as a professor at the Conservatoire in Florence. Having been introduced to the newly constructed cylindrical flute by Theobald Böhm in 1847, he added some minor further modifications of his own. His Bb thumb key was a useful addition to the original Böhm system subsequently known in the history of flute making as the ‘Biccialdi thumb key’. As a composer, apart from a single opera he mainly wrote pieces for the flute in the fashion of the time: arrangements, sets of variations and virtuoso showpieces a large number of which were published by Schott. In the original publication of Allegro alla Spagnuola op. 69 bars 23 to 41 were omitted from the score and only printed in the accompanying flute part. For this new edition the missing piano accompaniment has been reconstructed using the material available. Plate no. 12098 / published in 1853.

Cello and piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q53289 Duo brillant. Composed by Adrien-Francois Servais. Edited by Beverley Ellis and Rainer Mohrs. Arranged by Jacques Gregoir. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. 26 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53289. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53289). English • German.Adrien-Francois Servais was born on 6.6.1807 in Halle, Belgium and died there on 26.11.1866. From 1829 Servais taught cello in Brussels, where from 1848 he was a professor at the Conservatoire royal de musique. Concert tours across Europe earned him a high reputation as a virtuoso performer: he was described by Berlioz as the ‘Paganini of the cello’. The piano accompaniment is by the Belgian pianist Jacques Mathieu Joseph Gregoir (Grégoir), who was born in Antwerp on 19.1.1817 and died in Brussels on 29.10.1876. He studied with Henri Herz and Christian Rummel, both of whom worked with Schott as composers. Gregoir was a successful piano virtuoso and published several piano works with Schott. Together with Servais he made a collection of thirty arrangements of famous operatic melodies in the series Collection des Duos concertants, including works by Bellini, Mozart, Wagner und Verdi. The piano accompaniment here demands very full chords and can in places be difficult to play: as with a piano reduction, it can be simplified somewhat by leaving out a few notes here and there. The Duo brillant No. 10 on themes from Wagner’s opera Tannhäuser was published in 1861 (plate no. 16412).
