Violin and piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q50069 Composed by Istvan Szelenyi. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 14 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q50069. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q50069). The Hungarian composer István Szelényi (1904-1972) studied with Zoltán Kodály and later himself became a lecturer at the Budapest Academy of Music. This Rhapsody, published here for the first time, was written in 1956 for the Henryk Wieniawski Composition Competition in Warsaw. On the autograph manuscript Szelényi noted in French a saying of his former composition teacher Zoltán Kodály: la musique est pour tous - Music is the property of the community – it belongs to everyone. A virtuoso concert piece in free rhapsodic form, suitable for competitions and concert performance.

Piano - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6421 Composed by Rodion Shchedrin. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 9 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6421. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6421). The combination of cantabile elements and tight staccato rhythm, typical of Shchedrin's piano music, makes this 'little' sonata an effective, yet quite easily playable piece. It is unmistakable that this music has been written by a pianist who knows how to use the instrument. A virtuoso pianist himself, Shchedrin has often performed his piano works, including concertos, sonatas and 24 preludes and fugues, himself. The 'Sonatina' is dedicated to Shchedrin's wife, the famous prima-ballerina Maya Plisetskaya, and was performed for the first time in Moscow in 2005 as a birthday present.
