Power Line: for 2 or More Energetic Percussionists is a two part ensemble for first year percussionist.  Performed on a drum pad, the work explores the sound a percussionist can make by playing on the head and rim of the pad and the metal stand on which the pad sits, and stick clicks  In addition, there are also vocal effects.  The performs say tzzzz imitating the sound or an electrical arc.  Rhythms include quarter note and eighth note patterns and a few instances of four sixteenth notes grouped into one beat (1e&a).  The performs are also asked to play flams, paradiddles and multi bounce rolls.  Finally there is a small section which features a drum to drum section where the performers will play on the pads on each side of the performer.  This is a fun and exciting work for your first year percussionist!  Enjoy!

PROGRAM NOTES: The composer writes about his work: Dialogues for soprano and percussion was composed as a semi-theatrical composition, not to be acted. Talking Doll is a short satire about humans who act like machines for the sake of formality. The word Sargam in Indian means Solfège. The syllables sa, re, ma, ga, pa, dha (not used here) and ni are equal to our do, re, mi. Shadowphobia, as the name implies, deals with the relationship between a person and his/her shadow.

This rousing, stately and reflective piece of music has been arranged for standard brass band instrumentation (plus percussion) and congregational singing of two verses of this popular hymn.  With  remembrance and memorial performances in mind, this arrangement has been created to provide a concert style accompaniment  for this memorable hymn tune.   After an expressive opening and introduction to the main theme, two verses of the hymn tune Thaxted are set (in a good key for congregation singing) with a small break between. This arrangement will work well for any performance that requires community singing of this great melody.   The PDF is 35 pages in length (portrait A4) and includes a full score and parts for standard British brass band format, plus vocal part, timpani and glockenspiel parts. Note that the percussion parts are desirable but not essential. The duration of the piece is about 3 minutes 15 seconds.
