I was inspired by the beauty of sun rays piercing through the clouds in the sky, and how every combination of these light beams are unique in shape and size. These sun rays are represented through beautiful dissonances, extended fermatas, and subtle staggered percussion entrances. The piece has natural progression towards a noticeable peak, with very slight accelerations, and then slowly fades to an ending similar to that of the beginning. This is a wonderful piece to showcase the beauty in dissonance, the significance of subtlety, and offers several solo moments for every section of the band, starting with the horn and ending with the vibraphone.
