Percussion Solo,Timpani - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018954 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 1 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6078699. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018954). Programme Notes: This composition was written to be considered for pairing alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony #3, the Eroica, but can stand on its own virtues as an intense and slow meditation on heroism. The music is like a boiling pot on the stove that’s just began to overflow its bubbles. The first part of the title, kommos, is a Classical Greek term from Attic dramaturgy, literally meaning striking but specifically referring to beating oneself up during lamentation--ripping at the hair, gouging out the eyes--like Oedipus--slapping the forehead, and other acts amid moments of extreme emotional turmoil. For example, from Aeschylus's play Agamemnon, a character bewails: Apollo, Apollo! God of the Ways, my destroyer! For you have destroyed me-and utterly [...]What is this fresh woe [...]what monstrous, monstrous horror, beyond love's enduring, beyond all remedy? And help stands far away! We can easily imagine physical accompaniment to the script; rather than bottling up the pain, the hero lets it all explosively come out.  â€ƒThe second part of the title, When the world moved on, is an epigraph taken from American author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower epic. The primary setting of the novel, a world similar in many ways to our own, is experiencing a dark age where the glorious past is all but a distant memory and all good things are referred to wistfully as occurring, When the world moved on. Yet, the main protagonist, Roland, the last gunslinger, emphasizes that it is not just a figure of speech, but the literal distances between destinations have increased, the positions of the stars have changed, as well as the occurrence of other unnatural phenomena. The world has become a gulf of isolation from all corners. Taken together, this piece is a lamentation for when the world moved on. Truly completed on Yom Kippur during the Covid-19 Pandemic, being unable to fast or go to synagogue, this is my atonement.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. Small Ensemble Cello,Piano,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.954534 Composed by Johnathan Couch, Op. 3. 20th Century,Children,Contemporary. Score and parts. 29 pages. Johnathan Couch #3448263. Published by Johnathan Couch (A0.954534). One of the most unique works of Johnathan Couch's Opus 3, Animal Sketches, Volume I combines musical depictions of four diverse organisms into one entertaining program piece for piano quintet.1.) Blue Whale -  Hear the yearning song of the earth's largest animal, portrayed beautifully by the cello, as the upper strings and piano provide a soft, leisurely, ocean-like background.2.) Penguins - Everyone loves penguins. This cute and cheerful movement captures the playful fun side of penguins which we all know and love. Beginning with a good-natured swing and transitioning into a marshal little march, audiences will go crazy for this happy little piece.                                                                                                                                      3.) Venus Fly Trap (and an Unfortunate Insect) - The title says it all! With Violin I representing the doomed insect, the rest of the instruments take on the role of Venus Fly Trap, creating a calm, peaceful atmosphere which lures the bug into the plants life-ending jaws. The final seconds of this movement are a climactic escalation of harmony and rhythm which depict the last fleeting moments of the insect's life as the Venus Fly Trap consumes it.4.) Spiders - Not just one spider: lots of them! The music of this movement (composed in a somewhat-classical style) is sure to leave the audience with the sensation of thousands of little spiders crawling all over! This is a great movement, using lots of chromatic themes and spider-sounding trills.

Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1044425 By Lisa Waites. By Lisa Waites. Arranged by Lisa Waites. Folk,Holiday,Multicultural,Praise & Worship,Sacred,World. Score. 2 pages. Servant Song Music and Ministry #649158. Published by Servant Song Music and Ministry (A0.1044425). I wrote this reconciliation hymn back in 2016, when elders from the Blood Tribe, Metis, Piikani, and Siksika nations of Southern Alberta led the Reconciliation Week events at Medicine Hat College, in Medicine Hat, Alberta. They invited me to write and teach this hymn as part of the sessions at MHC, where I was (then) the ecumenical Chaplain. It has been an honour to participate in this annual tradition of indigenous leaders sharing their distinctive cultural practices, traditions, and values with the public in Medicine Hat (and the surrounding communities) for a decade, now. During the session I was asked to assist with, the Elders were sharing the Seven Grandfathers' Teachings, and so I included these core values into the lyrics of the hymn. The work in Medicine Hat started with expressions of lament and support from a group of local churches and the Medicine Hat College Chaplaincy program while the Truth and Reconciliation Commission was crossing the country. We quickly realized that many non-indigenous Canadians genuinely wanted to learn more about their First Nations, Metis, and Inuit neighbours. Seeing an urgent need for greater awareness about the intergenerational damage that was done by the Indian Residential School system here in Canada, and also identifying these Reconciliation events as a way to decrease racist stereotypes and assumptions about indigenous peoples, we decided to continue offering an annual reconciliation session, which grew, year by year. A decade later, I'm delighted to have seen deeper, healthier relationships being built between indigenous and non-indigenous people. Musically, this hymn loosely imitates the style of the French Canadian Voyageurs, the folk melodies of the 18th and 19th centuries. The lyrics incorporate the Seven Grandfathers' Teachings. This core ethical framework has many different versions, but many First Nations communities have adopted these teachings in some form. (I've heard Elders say that Respect must come first, because it is the foundation that we build on, but for this particular group at Medicine Hat College, Humility was first on the list). I have Metis ancestry myself, and as an adult, I have researched the long-hidden genealogical and cultural treasures of my family tree. Whether you are an indigenous person looking to support other indigenous Christian composers, or whether you are a non-indigenous person who is trying to broaden the repertoire of your congregation, We Must Learn to Walk Together is an upbeat, hope-filled hymn that sings about reconciliation as if it is not only possible in the distant future - but also achievable today, using the concrete steps suggested by the lyrics. The indigenous wisdom of the Seven Grandfathers' Teachings lines up beautifully with the teachings of Christ. Musically, this hymn is highly accessible for congregational singing; the range is moderate and the rhythms provide musical interest without becoming overly complex; to hear the guitar version and melody line of the hymn being played and sung by the composer, please go to the following YouTube link: https://youtu.be/3DpkFCLxgEs. The musical format of the hymn alternates between the chorus and three verses. The piece takes roughly 3:30 to perform. This hymn has been transcribed in the key of C Major, so it is as easy as possible for church accompanists to play and for congregations to sing; guitarists are invited to play in the key of A Major and simply capo 3. Guitar chords are included. I hope and pray that this hymn for reconciliation will help you, your congregation, and the wider community to think about, pray for, and enact the calls to action of the Canadian Truth and Reconciliation Commission in new and deeper ways this year.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.921768 Composed by Lisa Waites. Christian,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 2 pages. Servant Song Music and Ministry #6629007. Published by Servant Song Music and Ministry (A0.921768). We're Forgiven (God of Grace) was originally scored in a Piano/Guitar/Voice format, but for this Advent/Christmas season, Servant Song Music & Ministry has produced this full SATB Choral arrangement, as well! This particular arrangement is suitable for Beginner and Early Intermediate Church Choirs and Worship Teams, including very small ensembles. If you don't have any men in your choir, you can turn the score into a Soprano/Alto 2-part version pretty easily, too.   This short, accessible piece of worship music was written as a liturgical response for use during Christian services during the Advent/Christmas/Epiphany seasons of the church calendar. It returns the work of the people TO the people, placing the Words of Assurance into the mouths and hearts of the congregation and/or choir, rather than having the minister alone speaking the words of absolution/assurance after the Prayer of Confession. Set in a simple key for beginning accompanists and including chord charts for guitarists (or pianists who prefer to play by reading the melody notes in the RH and playing by chord symbol with their LH), this song has been set in a perfect vocal range for congregational voices and/or church choirs. Non-liturgical churches have also appreciated this piece as a way for congregants to respond musically to services on themes such as God's Grace, Forgiveness, Reconciliation, Prodigals, Mercy, and also throughout Advent or whenever the pastor is focusing on themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, Love, etc. Please don't make illegal copies of this score; it is the primary way I recover the costs of arranging, engraving and publishing new music. I work on the honour system. If you truly can't afford to purchase copies of this piece for each of your singers/musicians, please contact me via email or my Facebook music page, and I'll make sure your group is taken care of. To God be the glory!

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.888254 Composed by Edward David Zeliff. Contemporary,Folk,Patriotic. Octavo. 11 pages. Edward David Zeliff #4765847. Published by Edward David Zeliff (A0.888254). This choral piece was a commission from a large semi-professional community chorus to honor a charter member who had recently passed away. The deceased had served the chorale nobly and honorably in several ways through his entire 20+ years of membership. Thus the text stresses honoring and remembering this fine man for all the things he did and for all the ways he continued to have meaning for the members. In addition to being an excellent piece to honor and remember a single male person (as per its original purpose), the text includes alternate wording that allows for its use in honor of a single female or a group of people. It is particularly effective for a memorial service, either private or public, a small or large occasion, or as a public tribute or means of honoring those who have sacrificed for others. It is hauntingly melodic and richly harmonic, and features a significant piano part that allows a good accompanist to make a special contribution during the performance.
