Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1272763 Composed by Stephanie K. Andrews. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Sacred,Traditional. Octavo. 20 pages. Stephanie K Andrews #864958. Published by Stephanie K Andrews (A0.1272763). Written in December of 2020 for Be near me when my light is low, a collaborative Requiem by the composers of Inversion Ensemble (a conductor-composer collaborative based in Austin, Texas), the Offertory movement text is a modern English rendition of the Offertory (“Domine Jesu Christe†and “Hostias et preces tibi, Domineâ€) from the traditional Latin Requiem Mass. The Offertory is introduced by a light, flowing sixteenth note pattern in the righthand of the piano that is rhythmically repetitive and meditative. The voices then appear in unison at first, gradually beginning to divide into harmony as the piece progresses until at the word death they fall back into a stark, unaccompanied unison. The Archangel Michael appears in the section that follows, leading the souls of the faithful to eternal light as the music crescendos and moves through an accelerando, ending on a triumphant C major chord on the final repetition of eternal light. A motive of assurance that this light is promised to the faithful for all eternity is presented in E-flat major, a motive that will reappear in the finale of the piece. The flowing sixteenth notes and harmonic shifts of the first section return at Sacrifices and praises we offer you, O Lord. The movement concludes with a fugue in the victorious key of C major, once again offering comfort to Christ's faithful ones through the assurance of heavenly light for all eternity.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1013056 Composed by Christine Southworth. 20th Century,Contemporary,World. Score and parts. 35 pages. Airplane Ears Music #5802093. Published by Airplane Ears Music (A0.1013056). Super Collider (2010, 18 minutes) Kronos Quartet and electronic gamelanComposed for Kronos Quartet & Gamelan Elektrika. Premiered at Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival, August 13, 2010 by Kronos Quartet and Gamelan Elektrika: Evan Ziporyn, kendang; Sean Mannion, kempli; Balaji Mani, ceng-ceng; Laurel Pardue & Sachi Sato, pemade; Katie Puckett & Sam Schmetterer, kantilan; Mark Buckles, Ramon Castillo, Elizabeth Johansen, Julie Strand, reong; Beth Mullins & Po-Chun Wang, pokokGamelan Elektrika is an electronic virtual gamelan designed and developed by Alex Rigopulos (founder and CEO of Harmonix Music, inventors of video games Guitar Hero and Rock Band). The piece is inspired by the Large Hadron Collider at CERN - the largest machine ever built, that's purpose is to change science forever, recreating the beginning of the universe in a tube and proving (or disproving) the theories of particle physics of the last half-century.Particle physics is the unbelievable in pursuit of the unimaginable. To pinpoint the smallest fragments of the universe you have to build the biggest machine in the world. To recreate the first millionths of a second of creation you have to focus energy on an awesome scale. - The GuardianSuper Collider will explore two obverse sound worlds and traditions, the vast culture of the string quartet juxtaposed with the ancient performance methods of a gamelan, unleashed through the unlimited sonic universe of electronics. In our own test-tube experiment, this musical moment of collision will hopefully achieve similarly unparalleled results. What does particle physics have to do with music and art? String theory, which the CERN facility hopes to verify or disprove, presumes that matter itself is the manifestation of resonant vibrations, that the world itself is a universal harmony. This post-modern notion - which Kronos embodies with every performance - itself resonates with the ancient Hindu notion of om, the absolute manifest, which is the basis of Indonesian gamelan. We will bring these two ideas of resonance together by combining Kronos with a gamelan - even a virtual one.The behavior of subatomic particles is probabilistic, group-oriented: the motion of any one particle is unpredictable and unknowable: it's what the group does that counts. This could also be a description of the Balinese gamelan, where individual virtuosity is subsumed to interlocking patterns, composite melodies, the sound of the whole. This is also the spirit of Kronos. When Robert Moog developed his synthesizer in the 1960s, he modeled its functionality on the piano and on western music in general - a single person, sitting at a keyboard. This is one reason why it was popularized by Wendy Carlos' Swtiched On Bach. Gamelan Elek Trika takes a similar approach to the very distinctive musical practices of Indonesia. Like the great gamelans of Bali and Java, Gamelan Elek Trika works as a single unit, played by a complete ensemble. The instruments are played like a gamelan - metallophones, drums, and gongs, playing interlocking patterns - but all are channeled through a central 'brain', a single processing unit which controls their sound, tuning, and timbre. The composer can thus alter the sonic environment globally, not just for one instrument at a time but for the complete ensemble.Super Collider is made possible by generous support from Alex Rigopulos and Sachi Sato, MIT, and the MIT Media Lab. Gamelan Elektrika instruments produced by Alex Rigopulos; sensors, electronics, and interface design by Andrew Boch, Matt Boch, and Laurel Pardue; technical assembly by Stéphanie Bouchard; frame design and assembly by Quentin Kelly.About the ComposerChristine Southworth (b. 1978) is a composer and video artist based in Lexington, Massachusetts, dedicated to creating music born from a cross-pollination of sonic.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.742755 By Debbie Allen. By Debbie Allen. A Cappella,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Octavo. 20 pages. Nottingham Scores #350889. Published by Nottingham Scores (A0.742755). T.I.M.E., a work for SATB Choir, expresses the mystery of time, how it passes, how we use it and how it grants new beginnings. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have experienced time and what is important to us in different ways. Certainly, there have been moments of uncertainty, anxiety, even panic over danger of contracting the virus, the long-term effects of the virus and the loss of life. In isolation, awaiting further instructions, we have had time to reflect, prepare and imagine. We have had to manage life with new guidelines and restrictions, while trying to keep ourselves and others safe. This work attempts to put time in perspective, with a message of hope for recovery, and a better understanding of how to move forward with passion and grace. The message is not just for life in a pandemic, but for life, in general. Hopefully, this work can stand the “test of timeâ€, finding a meaningful place in the repertoire.

Score and parts. 6 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #3686381. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742435). Mauro Giuseppe Sergio Pantaleo Giuliani (27 July 1781 – 8 May 1829) was an Italian guitarist, cellist, singer, andcomposer. He was a leading guitar virtuoso of the early 19th century. Although born in Bisceglie, Giuliani's center of study was in Barletta where he moved with his brother Nicola in the first years of his life. His first instrumental training was on the cello-an instrument which he never completely abandoned-and he probably also studied the violin. Subsequently, he devoted himself to the guitar, becoming a very skilled performer on it in a short time. The names of his teachers are unknown, and we cannot be sure of his exact movements in Italy. Piano Trio,String Ensemble Cello,Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533315 Composed by Jacques Leguerney. 20th Century,Standards. Score and parts. 48 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2343071. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533315). French composer Jacques Leguerney (1906-1997) has been recognized for hisoutstanding oeuvre of songs for voice and piano, mostly composed upon poems of theFrench poets of the Pleiade. After his death, the Leguerney Estate decided to allow thepublication of his instrumental chamber music. These works, many of which werewritten in his early years, are valuable contributions to the French chamber musicrepertoire, representing the 20th century from its early years through World War II.This Trio was composed in 1928, but not performed until December 3, 1932. Therespected French musicians Hortense de Sampigny (violinist) and Jacques Serres(cellist) gave its first and, as far as we know, only performance along withLeguerney’s friend and mentor, Thérèse Cahen, at the piano. The concert includingthis work was organized by the Société Musicale Indépendante at the concert hall ofthe Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris. A review, in the Journal des débâts, reads:“We do not know this composer. Judging from his composition, whose variegatedstyle reminds us of [Cesar] Franck, of Maurice Ravel and of Spanish dances, he mustbe quite young.â€The same month as this performance, Leguerney’s father, Marcel Leguerney, died. Atthis point, he interrupted his musical activity in order to take over his father’s businessto support his mother and sister. He was not able to resume musical composition until1940, when the outbreak of the war led him to close the business. This edition is based upon two autograph manuscript sources of the full score, as wellas copyist’s parts for the violin and ‘cello. His first completed sketch as well as hisfinal copy are in the Leguerney archives. The parts, made by a copyist, were obviouslyused for a performance, and contain suggested phrasing, as well as bowings (whichwe have not reproduced). We surmise that the violin and ’cello parts were used for thefirst performance. We also think that Thérèse Cahen must have kept her piano score,as the copyist's score of it was not found with the other parts. We have added rehearsal numbers, and corrected a few notational mistakes in themanuscript. We would like to thank Jean Libermann, cellist, and Marion Larigaudrie, violinist, for their advice in the preparation of this edition.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Bass Clarinet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.581936 Composed by John Gibson. Contemporary. 19 pages. JB Linear #3457481. Published by JB Linear (A0.581936). Extinction Events (3rd movement - Walrus Jump by John Gibson was written as a submission to the International Clarinet Association's 2018 Composition Competition. Written for 3 Bb clarinets and 1 bass clarinet, it is a four movement work for very advanced players. This is the third movement only...the others may be purchased separately: Buzzy Delights, It Isn't Easy Being a Cuckoo, and Yaguarete Surprise (Argentine Jaguar). The entire set of 4 movements may also be purchased. Simply type extinction events Gibson in the search bar at the top.You can watch a You Tube video at https://youtu.be/zdxKbnvD6iI Each movement imagines a different animal or insect living in its habitat as it gradually deteriorates. One might think this would be sad, violent music, but each earthly creature is shown in its musical habitat where it happily does what it does best....bees buzzing around flowers, cuckoos gently calling in the forest, Walruses jumping not so gracefully onto sea ice, Jaguars quietly stalking their prey. The habitat changes are depicted by gradual use of unstable scales, and the sometimes hidden ancient tune of the Dies Irae, the Day of Wrath. The point I wish to make is how humans must be watchful of wildlife habitats because we are all in this limited world together. Where wild creatures go, so do we. It was best said by Jane Goodall: Only if we understand can we care. Only if we care will we help. Only if we help shall they be saved. Walruses are huge aquatic animals who are powerful and swift in the water, but when they jump onto sea ice to rest, they are anything but graceful. They are a bit comical, really. Subsistence hunters in the Bering Strait of Alaska are having trouble with their Spring hunts due to gradual warming of the arctic waters. Sea ice is getting thinner and the Walruses they rely upon to live are getting too far away. This Walrus Jump music is a pretty happy sounding boogie woogie that shows signs of musical distress as it goes on.
