Small Ensemble Flute,Guitar,Oboe,Piano,Ukulele,Violin - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1013014 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Na-Mara. Celtic,Folk,World. Score and parts. 1 pages. Na-Mara #5970297. Published by Na-Mara (A0.1013014). Asturias: this is a popular and well-known traditional folk song from Asturias (Spain). Here we have arranged the tune for two melody instruments. It is one of a number of folk tune arrangements by the UK based folk duo Na-Mara. Written in 3/4 waltz time in the key of G, Asturias can be played as a duet on two mandolins or on any C clef instruments (violins, ukuleles, flutes etc), with the guitar chords accompanying the individual players. Performance tips: this is beginner / intermediate level piece played andante or at a moderate speed, with a cantabile or singing style. We have added a second melody part to the original tune, and this makes for a nice interplay between the melody instruments although the second part is quite simple adding tremolo on the mandolin or long notes on the violin or flute make a nice variation. The guitar accompaniment can be played with broken chords, or gentle strumming.Na-Mara (Rob Garcia and Paul McNamara) perform this instrumental piece on mandolin or octave mandola, with guitar accompaniment. They have also used it alongside other tunes in workshops as a teaching and learning resource, introducing players to tunes from different parts of the Celtic world. Recordings of this and other tunes on SMP can be found on Na-Mara’s albums ‘Sisters & Brothers’, ‘Navajos & Pirates’ and ‘The Bite’ Na-Mara have built an enviable reputation for fine story-telling and musicianship. They have performed in venues and festivals in the UK, Europe and China, and on BBC Radio 4, and a plethora of internet and local radio stations. They have consistently delivered new and exciting material to audiences.  This includes their own take on traditional tunes from Brittany, France, Ireland, and the Spanish Celtic regions of Asturias and Galicia. Published by Na-Mara (A0.1013008). Canberra Bourrée: this tune is one of a number of self-penned folk tunes by the UK based folk duo Na-Mara and is written in the style of a French Bourrée. Written in the key of Dm, Canberra Bourrée can be played on mandolin or on any C clef instrument (violin, ukulele, flute etc), with the guitar chords accompanying the individual player. Performance tips: this is beginner / intermediate level piece and played at a moderate speed. It’s quite nice to make a long pause on the second time bar before going back to the A section, and to make a feature of this, and also to slow it down towards the very end. The guitar accompaniment can be played with broken chords, or arpeggio style. When we play this tune live we play it as the middle tune of a three-part set, starting with our arrangement of the An Dro, and finishing the set with our arrangement of the Galician Muiñeira, Muiñeira de Boal. String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.754150 Composed by Nick Raspa. 20th Century. Score and parts. 46 pages. NJR Music #2069333. Published by NJR Music (A0.754150). The title of this piece is the spacial configuration of the DNA molecule. The physical representation of the molecule, in this work, is from that of the outside observer. The DNA molecule, as we know, is represented as a curved ladder. The rungs of the ladder contain all the vital information necessary for us to be individuals. The rungs are held in place by vertical structures much like that of the standard ladder. This ladder is often depicted as swiveling and, as such, the rungs of the ladder are quite visible at times and disappear at other times. The outsider observer will see those rungs for a period of time and, as the ladder swivels, the rungs disappear and all that is visible, to the observer, are the vertical structures. The physical representation of the swiveling DNA molecule is represented musically with the quartet moving back and forth between a monophonic and polyphonic. There are also variations in tempo which relate to the movement between the monophonic and polyphonic states (a speeding up during the approach to viewing only the vertical braces). The philosophical perspective relates to the fact that this molecule is common to all of humanity at the same time that it separates each and every one of us. It is ironic that something that keeps all of us separate, at the same time unifies us. There is no doubt that we are all unified, yet intrinsically different. Being cut from the same (high grade) cloth, we are all the same, and yet, we may have different colors and patterns. The piece ends with an oscillation between two pitches ultimately resolving to one pitch.

String Quartet String Quartet - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031806 Composed by Liam Morrissey. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 2 pages. Liam Morrissey #3572227. Published by Liam Morrissey (A0.1031806). Between gigs on winter terraces , walks on frozen streets , chamber music rehearsals , and the recognition of the good and the bad in man and machine , my quartet was born . It came at a time of reconciliation , of a dawning acceptance of the beauty , the necessity of exploration of advancing technology in music . Before then I had trouble with the synthetic nature of contemporary music ; it seemed to me a symbol of the degradation of the importance that we give to nature in society . However , as I listened more and more to electronic music , as I rehearsed Philip Glass with my friends , I came to accept that there is a coexistence as natural and wonderful as a cup of tea . Yes , it still worries me , the level to which we have come to depend on technological advantage , and I feel we have a long way to go before we reach equilibrium .In the meantime , I wrote this piece and prepared it with completely synthetic effects in the hope of reaching that balance , at least from an aesthetic perspective . It starts somewhat coldy , a siren , a train motor , a deep respiration and a sigh . It twists , it turns , and by the end humanity and its steel and plastic progeny are one .

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1307163 Composed by Jay Dougherty and Justin La. 21st Century,Contemporary. 37 pages. Jay Dougherty #896417. Published by Jay Dougherty (A0.1307163). Phoenix Cantata is a six-movement vocal and piano work that explores the themes of resilience and the transformative power of change. The music and lyrics are the creative work of Dr. Jay Dougherty, while the piano accompaniment is skillfully crafted by Justin La.Drawing inspiration from the mythical symbolism of the phoenix, this cantata narrates the journey through life's challenges and tribulations and explores how we can learn to comprehend, embrace, and grow from them. Although the Phoenix is not explicitly mentioned, the underlying message resonates with the tale of the phoenix: after facing adversity or transformation, we emerge stronger and more beautiful. Each of the 6 movements centers on a flower garden, the gardener's affection for the garden, the looming storm that could devastate it, and the gardener's eventual realization that, even after the storm, the garden remains beautiful and precious.Through its exploration of growth, understanding, and acceptance, Phoenix Cantata explores the universal experiences of adversity and change that we all encounter at various stages of our lives. The phoenix, serving as a symbol of rebirth and renewal, becomes a powerful metaphor for our ability to rise stronger and more resilient from the ashes of hardship.Five of the six movements are accompanied by piano, with one movement being a cappella. The a cappella movement, while split into 11 parts, is quite simple, as these 11 parts simply drone the tones of the overtone series on oo. Movement 4 features a soprano soloist in addition to the SATB chorus and splits into 10 aleatoric parts in the middle section. Please purchase one copy for each individual singer. For more information on compositions and arrangements by Jay Dougherty, visit: www.jmdougherty.com.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1456693 By Jennifer Oleksy. By Jennifer Oleksy. New Age. Score. 3 pages. Jennifer Oleksy #1035762. Published by Jennifer Oleksy (A0.1456693). This song was inspired by Patti Callahan's novel, Once Upon a Wardrobe.  If this book had a soundtrack, this is my idea of it.  It's a story of faith - faith in finding meaning, faith in a beloved story, and faith even in the face of loss.  The song reflects the magic inherent in the stories of Narnia (Callahan's novel centers around C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia) and the hope of an ailing little boy to find out where the story comes from.  It lends emphasis to the idea that although the Narnia stories are fiction, there is indeed much to be found therein that IS real.  And as a young mathemetician surprises herself to find meaning in something not based in logic, so does the listener realize that even when we think we have found the truth of where the story begins, we are only just beginning and there is more to find.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1173680 By The Beatles. By Meredith Willson. Arranged by Dave Gingras and John E. Dosher. Broadway,Jazz,Musical/Show,Rock. Score. 2 pages. DAVID LEE GINGRAS #773828. Published by DAVID LEE GINGRAS (A0.1173680). Till There Was You is a show tune written in 1950 by Meredith Willson, originally entitled Till I Met You. It was originally recorded October 25, 1950, by Meredith Willson & his Orchestra and Eileen Wilson. The song was retitled and used in his musical play The Music Man (1957), and also appeared in the 1962 movie version. In 1959, the song became the first of four US Top 40 hits for Anita Bryant. Till There Was You was also recorded by the Beatles in 1963 and released on their second album With the Beatles (1963) (United Kingdom) and Meet the Beatles! (1964) (United States). It was the only song from a Broadway show released by the band. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. For interest and to keep the rhythm moving, we added some pretty cool left-hand fills. We hope you like what we've done with the song!
