This one featured the oboe, which is ironically omitted from this arrangement for flute, clarinet, horn and bassoon. The sound clip is from the last measures of the first movement. It features a horn run that will be a challenge, but sounds so neat if it's nailed. Everything else is quite playable. We have done it for audiences and it was received well.

I have added lyrics derived from various liturgical texts (some a little outdated)  and some extra material of my own.  This would sound good at communion. We've done it with one soprano and the other parts played by stringed instruments.

I’ve endeavored to keep the melodies true to their source, though I granted myself liberty to switch the tune between the two instruments, change octaves, and add embellishments on the repeats--something that might also be done in spontaneous performance. These arrangements were conceived for recorder and violin but may also be played on flute and violin or two violins. In this volume, the suggested recorder range is indicated, but the adaptable recorder player may experiment with different ranges. We prefer the soprano recorder (which sounds an octave higher than written) on reels, jigs, and hornpipes and the tenor recorder (or alto recorder depending on range) for slower, lyrical pieces. These pieces are delightful perform for Renaissance and Celtic festivals and theme events and to add romance to period or castle weddings. This festive organ work is based on the hymn tune Grosser Gott, known usually by the text Holy God, We Praise Your Name.  This work is playable on one manual, and while composed with a faster tempo and full organ in mind, it could also work with a slower tempo and more gentle registration.  Creativity is encouraged!  The recording was done on a two manual instrument with no registration changes, aside from a few measures played on the swell.
