Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.568572

Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Patriotic. 16 pages. RayThompsonMusic #177981. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.568572).

Arranged double wind quintet.

I Vow to Thee, My Country is a British patriotic hymn, created in 1921, when music by Gustav Holst had a poem by Sir Cecil Spring Rice set to it.

The music originated as a wordless melody, which Holst later named Thaxted, taken from the Jupiter movement of Holst's 1917 suite The Planets.

The tune is used forWorld in Union – the anthem with lyrics by Charlie Skarbek, introduced at the 1991 Rugby World Cup.

It has been used for many other Christian Hymns.

Notable examples are:

O God Beyond All Praising – Michael Perry, 1982.

We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God – a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudamus by Stephen P. Starke in the 2006 Lutheran Service Book

The Answer – song with lyrics by Corrinne May, which appears on her fourth album, The Gift.

For the Splendor of Creation – a hymn sung at Harvard Universitycommencement ceremonies.

Building the Kingdom – a recessional hymn sung at St Aloysius College.

O Spirit All-Embracing – Delores Dufner, 1995.

This is my arrangement for wind dectet/bass of Gustav Holst's orchestral arrangement.
It has an opening section, before the melody begins.

By Kevin Longley. By Kevin Longley. Arranged by Kevin Longley. A Cappella,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. 10 pages. Kevin Longley #711630. Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1109087).

Inspiration While I have recited the Nicene Creed countless times, in July 2021 something changed. The church had cleared the return of the choir, post pandemic, and it was my first Sunday of singing in well over a year. That Sunday as I recited the creed something happened when I reached the line “And His Kingdom Will Have No Endâ€. Was it louder? Was it spoken with greater conviction? Something was different! Maybe it was just me. I'm not sure but all I know is that every Sunday thereafter it had the same impact on me. Within a few weeks I decided to compose a choral piece about that very line. I had to! The Music For the most part the harmony and structure are traditional but do contain harmonic structures with a contemporary flair. The arrangement is refrain, verse, refrain, verse, bridge and then refrain. The first and 3rd refrains are highly similar while the second refrain contains a soprano section descant while featuring the bass's carrying the main melody. The overall intent of the music is that on every return to the refrain, it is louder than the previous refrain. This signifies the singers confidence growing, in the existence of God's Kingdom, after each verse. With that said the piece starts quietly, almost being heard from a distance. The refrain lyrics speak to the hope that we carry for God's kingdom while the verses speak to God and Jesus in a more intimate way. The bridge speaks to the strength of the Kingdom and then leads back to the opening refrain, now in double forte. The high point in the piece is reached where volume, emotion and a significant ritard occur at the phrase “we'll be togetherâ€. From there the piece decreases in volume ending in a quiet confidence repeating “No end, no end, no endâ€.

Composed by Cynthia Gray. General, Mission. Sacred Anthem. Octavo. 12 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGA1604. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGA1604).

UPC: 749193030080.

Cynthia Gray’s choral anthem gives thanks for the kingdom of God known within the walls of Christian community, but reminds us that God’s kingdom also exists beyond our church doors. As Christ-bearers, it is our call to take the gifts we’ve been given and extend them to all who are in need of hope and healing. This dynamic, rousing anthem for SATB voices is a wonderful complement to worship themes of mission and outreach.

By The Beach Boys. By Brian Wilson and Gary Usher. Arranged by Donald A. Mills, 2019. A Cappella,Pop,Rock. Octavo. 3 pages. Donald A Mills #4351149. Published by Donald A Mills (A0.928974).

In My Room, by The Beach Boys.

This gentle song may be sung as a prayer, with tenderness. Your audiences will love the melody and harmonies.

This arrangement by Donald A. Mills is for barbershop as a quartet or chorus. It is TTBB (TLBB) a cappella, sung softly, sweetly, legato, singing the four dotted quarter notes as a 3/4 time. The Beach Boys have mentioned that they wrote In My Room in 12/8 time because they had tired of the 3/4 time many songs of the day were written in.

From Wikipedia, Gary Usher explained that 'In My Room found us taking our craft a little more seriously. Brian and I came back to the house one night after playing 'over-the-line' (a baseball game). I played bass and Brian was on organ. The song was written in an hour... Brian's melody all the way. The sensitivity... the concept meant a lot to him. When we finished, it was late, after our midnight curfew. In fact, Murry [the Wilson brothers' father] came in a couple of times and wanted me to leave. Anyway, we got Audree [the Wilson brothers' mother], who was putting her hair up before bed, and we played it for her. She said, 'That's the most beautiful song you've ever written.' Murry said, 'Not bad, Usher, not bad,' which was the nicest thing he ever said to me.

Gary Usher (who co-wrote the lyrics with Brian Wilson) further describes that Brian was always saying that his room was his whole world. Brian seconds this opinion: I had a room, and I thought of it as my kingdom. And I wrote that song, very definitely, that you're not afraid when you're in your room. It's absolutely true.

In 1990, Brian wrote, I also enjoyed producing 'In My Room'. There is a story behind this song. When Dennis, Carl and I lived in Hawthorne as kids, we all slept in the same room. One night I sang the song 'Ivory Tower' to them and they liked it. Then a couple of weeks later, I proceeded to teach them both how to sing the harmony parts to it. It took them a little while, but they finally learned it. We then sang this song night after night. It brought peace to us. When we recorded 'In My Room', there was just Dennis, Carl and me on the first verse...and we sounded just like we did in our bedroom all those nights. This story has more meaning than ever since Dennis' death.

A Mission for Every One
Audio accompaniment/demo MP3
A song I wrote at the request of the South Brazil Mission of the International Mission Board SBC, for their Annual South Brazil Mission Meeting in 1997 while we were serving the churches of the Federal District Baptist Convention in the capital city of Brasília (1000 miles into the interior of the country).
The key reference here is Matthew 24:4-14...
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.—KJV
