Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1120600

Composed by John Henry Hopkins Jr. Arranged by Aaron Lee. 20th Century,Christmas,Holiday,Instructional,Jazz. Score. 4 pages. J. Aaron Lee #721846. Published by J. Aaron Lee (A0.1120600).

This solo piano arrangement of the classic Christmas carol We Three Kings (originally titled, Three Kings of Orient) makes use of some dense and jazzy chords and a very slow, free tempo. It is a contemplative and laid-back approach to the carol. The chords themselves are dense, and there are a couple spans of a 9th, but otherwise this arrangement should be very manageable for an intermediate-level pianist. SKU: A0.522286

Composed by Various. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 50 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #6596257. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522286).

We’re really excited to present our collection of sixty of the best-loved hymns ever composed, presented in three books. Arranged for violin, cello and piano they are intended either as stand-alone pieces that could be used as interludes in a service, or they could be used to accompany solo, choral or congregational singing. To make the music accessible to less experienced string players, the range of the notes has been kept fairly low so that many of the arrangements can be played in first position, though more experienced players would probably want to avoid open strings. The cello part does not follow the bass but instead plays an independent tenor line using to the mid to upper range of the instrument. The top note in the cello part is the F sharp above the bass clef. The piano part has been kept as straightforward as possible with the left hand playing the bass part.

To extend the possible uses of this collection, there’s also a melody part printed in the bass clef, an octave lower than the violin part. This could of course be used for cello solo or indeed for any other bass clef instrument. Included in the 50-page PDF file is an optional bass part which follows the piano left hand and could be used for string bass or bass guitar. With such a small ensemble, a conductor is hardly necessary and to save on costs the pianist reads from the score. For this reason, the piano part in the score has been slightly enlarged.

Book 1 contains the following twenty popular hymns: Abide with Me (Eventide); All Glory, Laud and Honor (St. Theodulph); All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name (Coronation); All Through the Night (Ar Hyd y Nos); City of God, How Broad and Far (Richmond - Haweis); Fairest Lord Jesus (Crusader’s Hymn); Fight the Good Fight (Duke Street); Forth in Thy Name (Angel's Song, Song 34); Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer (Cwm Rhondda); He who Would Valiant Be (Monk’s Gate); Holy, Holy, Holy! (Nicea); I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say (Kingsfold); Jesu, Lover of my Soul (Aberystwyth); Nearer my God to Thee (Bethany); Now Thank We All Our God (Nun Danket); O Worship the King (Hanover); Rejoice, the Lord is King (Darwall’s 148th); Soldiers of Christ, Arise (Diademata); The Lord’s my Shepherd (Crimmond); What a Friend we Have in Jesus (Converse).

The music has been set in string-friendly keys so they are not compatible with the brass or wind publications of the same name. The audio samples include Abide with Me; All Through the Night; I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say; Nearer my God to Thee and What a Friend we Have in Jesus.

By Kim Kirkman. By John Henry Hopkins Jnr. Arranged by Kim Kirkman. Christmas,Comedy. Score. 6 pages. Kim Kirkman #1088840. Published by Kim Kirkman (A0.1514360).

We Three Kings re-written to commiserated with those epic walkers of old. Those of fantastic feet. Those with super sandals.
Arranged for three voices and piano.

Lyrics:
Tutti: We three kings of Orient are;
bearing gifts we traverse afar,
sandals flopping, without stopping
following yonder star.

Refrain:
O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
How far to this Nazarite?

King I: Born a King on Bethlehem's plain,
gold I bring to crown him again,
Walking ever, ceasing never,
Wowzers my leg’s in pain.

Tutti: O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
Trav’lling on both day and night.

King II: Frankincense to offer have I;
incense owns a Deity nigh;
Real trail-blazing, it’s hair-raising,
Trudging along, I sigh.

Tutti: O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
Breaks are a true delight.

 King III: Myrrh is mine; its bitter perfume
breathes a life of gathering gloom;
blisters bleeding, not conceding,
Where is the next bathroom?

Tutti: O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
Dunes are a gruesome sight.

 Tutti: Glorious now, at last we’ve arrived,
From our comforts we’ve been deprived:
Presents given, wish we’d been driven
Don’t think my knees survived.

 Tutti: O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
West we followed, pain we swallowed,
Back we sorely trudge tonight.

 Comments as leave stage: What, all the way back again? Home again, jigged-jog. We just came all this way West and now we have to go back east?

Composed by Oscar Hammerstein and Richard Rodgers. Arranged by Will Corbin. Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show. 20 pages. Will Corbin #1041928. Published by Will Corbin (A0.1463234).

Shall We Dance, from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The King And I, debuted on Broadway in 1951 and in the movie version in 1956, with Deborah Kerr lip-synching Marni Nixon as she and Yul Brynner polka around the Siamese palace. This arrangement draws from the movie rendition, which ranks No. 54 on the American Film Institute's list of the top 100 movie songs. But don't play it in Bangkok. Thailand banned the movie (and a subsequent remake) not long after its release, based on the not entirely inaccurate assessment that it reflects poorly on the Brynner character, the real-life King Mongkut, great-great-grandfather of Thailand's current monarch. And they have pretty unpleasant laws regarding lese majeste for those who make fun of their kings.

This late beginner/elementary sheet music of We Three Kings takes the student along a journey of melodic interest in D minor. Musical elements in We Three Kings late beginner piano sheet music - Key of D minor - Left hand intervals (harmonic and melodic) - Right hand melody with occasional secondary notes - Basic rhythm (dotted half notes, half notes, quarter notes, eighth notes) - A melodic introduction - Finger numbers - A few ledger lines Teaching tips for We Three Kings sheet music Students love the chorus, where both the right hand and left hand play intervals together. However, some students get too eager and rush through this part. This will lead to a great discussion where fast is not always the solution to exciting parts. #wethreekings #christmaspiano #beginnerpiano #sheetmusic.

Composed by American Folk Hymn. Arranged by Mark R Lewis. Christmas,Folk,Holiday,Sacred,Traditional. Octavo. 41 pages. Mark R Lewis #649647. Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1045083).

The tune for Star in the East first appears in print in The Southern Harmony collection, but is well attested as an American Folk Hymn. The lyrics are partially anonymous but most published versions include verses that seem to have been added by the arranger of that version. This Epiphany song has similar themes to We Three Kings but is definitely a refreshing change from that well known tune. This fun arrangement by Mark R Lewis is for Baritone soloist, SATB choir, a woodwind instrument, and bass instrument. Included is sheet music for C, Bb, and Eb instruments and a bass line which can be played by many different bass instruments depending on what the group has available. The instrumentalists can transpose their parts to different octaves for ease of playing if necessary. The Baritone soloist should be a well experienced intermediate singer and the bass line is very active at times, but the choir and woodwind parts should be performable by most intermediate groups. Also available for Baritone Solo w/ TTB ensemble, which is showcased in the sound samples included here. Vocal Range: f minor Baritone solo - 1 1/2 octaves (Bb2 to F4) Soprano - <1 octave (Eb4 to D5) Alto - <1 octave (C4 to Bb4) Tenor - 1 octave (C3 to C4) Bass - 1 octave (F2 to F3, optionally down to Eb2) Instrument Range: Clarinet - max 3 1/2 octaves (F3 to A5) can be smaller if octaves are transposed Bass instrument - 1 1/2 octaves (F2 to C4).
