Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.866288 Composed by Geoffrey Cottrell. Children,Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 18 pages. Geoffrey Cottrell #5881. Published by Geoffrey Cottrell (A0.866288). This traditional carol is normally known set to the tune of 'Greensleeves'. But here is a new, catchy and effective setting, intended for performance by a medium to large amateur SATB chorus with organ. There is an optional innocent-sounding part for a children's chorus, but if this is not available, the part an be sung by a group of sopranos (A). Starting quietly over a repeating ground-like organ figure, the question of the title is asked by a solitary line of high voices and then answered in harmony by the chorus. The texture gradually enriches and the intensity builds. The final verse features a descant part, ending the carol with a rousing climax! This carol works very effectively in a Christmas carol concert or church service.

Flute Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1141976 Composed by English ballad and James R. Murray. Arranged by Diana Meux. Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Sacred. Individual part. 2 pages. Download Church Music #742353. Published by Download Church Music (A0.1141976). Two different flute descants for the Christmas hymns Away in a Manger and What Child Is This, with an interlude that connects the hymns, modulating from the key of F major for Away in a Manger to the key of E minor for What Child Is This. Away in a Manger descant is for the AWAY IN A MANGER tune by James R. Murray and is based on the other hymn tune CRADLE SONG by William J. Kirkpatrick. What Child Is This descant is for the traditional GREENSLEEVES tune. Use hymnal or other source for accompaniment; descants for the hymns fit Lutheran Service Book (LSB) and Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW) settings, as well as the Lutheran Worship (LW) setting of What Child Is This. Descants may also fit other hymnal settings. Example: For Christmas Eve or Service of Lessons and Carols, sing the first stanza of each hymn after the reading Luke 2:6-7, with flute solo interlude, such as: - Luke 2:6-7 reading - Hymn: Away in a Manger, stanza 1 (or stanzas 1 and 3, using descant stanza 3) - Flute solo interlude - Hymn: What Child Is This, stanza 1 Or use descants separately and omit interlude.
