My goal is to create something that sounds beautiful as a standalone piece of music and, most importantly, that it also makes pianistic sense. Most decisions are based on their current skills and abilities, or where I would like for them to be when they complete the piece. This arrangement was made for a mid-beginner student working in Level 1/2 of Alfred's Masterwork Classics, Primary II Class. Great exercise for counting tied eighth notes. But the truth is, when a student knows the song, sometimes the counting goes straight out the window! My student ended up learning this in about two weeks. We were both surprised! This is an arrangement for brass quintet with an optional drum part.  The chart stays pretty close to the Dionne Warwick version with all the instruments getting a piece of the melody at some point.  I've rated this advanced intermediate because the first trumpet has a written C towards the end, and the french horn part is a bit challenging (but fun).  I also wrote some low tuba notes (it goes down to F# below the staff)-- though they can be played up an octave without messing up the arrangement.  This will be a hit with your older audiences!
