Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.597602 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Flavio Regis Cunha. Concert,Graduation,Holiday,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 12 pages. Flavio Regis Cunha #6712473. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha (A0.597602). It probably comes as a surprise to many to know that Beethoven wrote variations on the current British national anthem, as well as on a jingoistic tune sung every year at the BBC Proms. But indeed he did. In 1803 he was approached by George Thomson, a civil servant living in Edinburgh who was passionate about collecting folk songs from his own country. He wanted Beethoven to compose six sonatas on Scottish melodies-a project which never materialized, but which started a business relationship that lasted until 1820. For Thomson, Beethoven completed some 150 arrangements of Scottish, Welsh and Irish folk songs (including Auld lang syne). Towards the end of 1803, he sent him these two sets of variations for piano, saying they weren’t too difficult and hoping they would have much success.Concerning the 7 Variations on ‘God save the King’, WoO78, Beethoven made the comment that he wanted to ‘show the English what a blessing they have’ with that tune. We don’t really know who wrote it, but it became very popular in 1745 when it started being sung at Drury Lane and Covent Garden to celebrate the putting-down of the Jacobite rising. It travelled over to the Continent where in 1795 it became the royal anthem of Prussia (‘Heil dir im Siegerkranz’).It makes a great theme for variations, and Beethoven has a lot of fun with it. If ever you needed proof of humour in his music, here it is. After some counterpoint in variation 1, he gives us some nimble fingerwork to deal with before an expressive minor-mode variation that can also be played a bit tongue-in-cheek. He changes metre for variation 6, a perky march, and stays in that time signature for variation 7. A lot of the difficulty of this piece depends on the tempo you choose at this point. The coda is inspired: a brief cadenza-like descent of F major broken chords leads us into a solemn return of the theme, but with some piquant and mischievous harmonies. The final allegro brings the work to a bravura conclusion.

Hans Rudolf #798998. Published by Hans Rudolf (A0.1200196). A Poor Wayfaring Stranger is a traditional American folk song with roots that can be traced back to the early 19th century. The song tells the story of a weary traveler who is journeying through a difficult world in search of a brighter future in the afterlife. The song's haunting melody and poignant lyrics have made it a favorite of singers and audiences alike, and it has been covered by countless artists over the years. The song's origins are somewhat murky, but it is believed to have originated in the southern United States, possibly in the Appalachian Mountains. The earliest known version of the song dates back to the 1820s, when it was collected by musicologist and folklorist John Jacob Niles. Niles recorded the song as part of his efforts to preserve traditional American folk music, and he later performed it as part of his own repertoire.Over the years, A Poor Wayfaring Stranger has become a staple of the American folk music canon, and it has been covered by a wide range of artists, including Joan Baez, Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, and many others. The song's haunting melody and spiritual themes have made it a powerful symbol of hope and perseverance, and it continues to inspire and move people around the world.

It charted in Germany at No. 50,[1] Switzerland at No. 12,[2] and in South Africa at No. 7. The meaning of the song is about when she's gone, will the guy miss her as she misses him. She can't stop thinking of him and wants to reconcile with him. She wanted to be apart at first but hopes love will reunite them. The beat of the song is cheery and uptempo.

Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1489003 By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Will Corbin. Pop. 19 pages. Will Corbin #1065852. Published by Will Corbin (A0.1489003). This is perhaps the best known -- or at least most covered -- of the Beatles' songs. It appeared in their 1965 album Help! It has since been covered more than 2,000 times; it holds the Guinness record for history's most recorded song. It topped charts around the world when it hit the record stores. Here's a snippet from Wikipedia to give you an idea of how revered it is: 'Yesterday' was voted the best song of the 20th century in a 1999 BBC Radio 2 poll of music experts and listeners and was also voted the No. 1 pop song of all time by MTV and Rolling Stone magazine the following year. In 1997, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Broadcast Music Incorporated asserts that it was performed over seven million times in the 20th century. With that in mind, this arrangement reflects a reasonably straight original treatment, with tango, swing and waltz snippets thrown in to show just what kind of damage a gazillion covers can do.If you need other instrumentation, I'm happy to help. Woodwind quintet - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CMS1612 Composed by Stephen Foster. Arranged by Judith Katz. Score and Parts. 18 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CMS1612. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CMS1612). 9 x 12 in inches.Jeanie With The Light Brown Hair is one of the most enduring, and popular American songs of all times.Characterized as a parlor song, it was written by Stephen Foster, and published by Firth, Pond & Co. of NewYork, in1854.In 1850, Foster married Jane Denny McDowell, whose nickname was Jennie. However, this was an unhappymarriage, short-lived, with numerous conflicts and separations. Jeanie With The Light Brown Hair, was written asperhaps an attempt to win his wife back. To add to his problems, Foster also ran into deep financial difficulties.Jeanie With the Light Brown Hair was virtually unknown during its time. When it was first published, the royaltieson the ten thousand copies sold, earned just $200 for Stephen Foster. To make ends meet, he had to sell the rights toJeanie, as well as other songs. After his death, the rights to Jeanie With The Light Brown Hair reverted back to hiswife and daughter. It would indeed be a pleasant surprise to Stephen Foster, if he only knew what a wide range of artists have adaptedthis song to different genres. Among solo instrumentalists, Jascha Heifitz, and William Primrose have arranged itfor solo violin and viola. The big bands of Gene Krupa, and Glen Miller have recorded it. The great R & B artist,Sam Cooke used it, as well as opera stars, Marilyn Horne and John McCormick, who added it to their concertrepertoire. The song's frequent airplay in the 1940's, led Spike Jones to create a parody, called, I Dream of Jeanie with theLight Blue Jeans. Les Brown in 1941, created a big band song, Joltin' Joe DiMaggio with the line.....We Dream ofJoey With the Light Brown Bat. Even Bugs Bunny got into the act. The 1960 short, From Hare To Heir, featuresBugs singing, I dream of Jeanie, she's a light brown hareMy arrangement, for woodwind quintet is written to capture a lyric, singing style, which I think Foster had in mind.

Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1408123 By Damien Gauci. By Damien Gauci. Classical. Full Performance. Duration 178. Damien Gauci #990693. Published by Damien Gauci (A0.1408123). This piece originally began with the idea of the repeated chords in the right hand which I came up with near the end of 2018. I stumbled across this chord progression and developed it into the first eight bars of the composition. I liked the sound of the main section so I decided to use a Rondo form which is structured as ABACA with section A as the repeated chords in the right hand.It was a lot of fun to write this piece and I learnt many new things whilst writing, especially creating a good structure and developing the A section when it returns throughout the piece. The middle, near to the end section with the Alberti bass gives it a nice break between all of the heavy repeated notes. That's one thing I would have done differently in this piece; separate it a little bit more from the heavy repeated chords. The context and idea behind this piece is a bit more abstract than my other pieces as I usually aim to have a story behind my music but it was born out of a musical idea rather than a philosophical one. However, it seems to convey a frantic mood as well as some times for rest and slowing down. There are some sections that I personally think are still a bit basic, which I think with more experience I will be able to write better. I would have to say the start of the second page, or the ascending chords part sounds quite nice. Overall, I'm fairly happy with the end result, and I have another piece to fully release in the near future. I plan on narrowing down certain parameters to further develop my composition techniques and skills.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.947280 Composed by John Philips. Jazz. Score and parts. 36 pages. John Philips Music Service #3867733. Published by John Philips Music Service (A0.947280). This is a funky 2 beat built on double (24 bar) blues. It has an optional vocal,( cued in for alto sax) that should be sung thru a megaphone like the old Winchester Cathedral. The title comes from a pattern of speech found only in Chicago where people still say over by here and over by there. It swings well and invites a couple tambourines playing on 2 and 4. This is a fun chart but is very correct musically even if you expect the Blues Brothers to show up when it’s played. It can be opened for solos if needed. Don’t get too serious about the vocal, it’s best with your worst singer, maybe with a clothes-pin on his nose.   Enjoy it with your audience. If you want a Maynard or Buddy chart, look elsewhere. This series of charts uses nothing more complicated than eighth notes, are not frantic or screamers, extreme ranges and are hemi-demi-semi-quaver free. They depend on intonation and the players being not intimidated by what he is asked to play. There is no contest to see how high you can go before you need oxygen , how many notes you can play in 9 seconds or before your bell overheats , or how long it takes the audience to cover their earsRelaxed and confident players always play more in tune. Good harmonies, lines and realistic rhythm patterns will produce a good result that will swing and be enjoyed by player and listener alike.

Published by Donald A Mills (A0.928983). With an original introduction by this arranger, this melodic balled is sung here a cappella, unencumbered by instruments. Some of the chord structure is complex, but intuitive. Your audiences will surely love this beautiful song in this new arrangement for SATB.From Wikepedia:Historians have not been able to definitively identify The House Of The Rising Sun, but here are the two most popular theories:1) The song is about a gambling hall in New Orleans. The House Of The Rising Sun was named after Madame Marianne LeSoleil Levant (which means Rising Sun in French) and was open for business from 1862 (occupation by Union troops) until 1874, when it was closed due to complaints by neighbors. It was located at 826-830 St. Louis St.2) It's about a women's prison in New Orleans called the Orleans Parish women's prison, which had an entrance gate adorned with a rising sun artwork. The melody is a traditional English ballad, but the song became popular as an African-American folk song. It was recorded by Texas Alexander in the 1920s, then by a number of other artists including Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Josh White and later Nina Simone. It was her version The Animals first heard. No one can claim rights to the song, meaning it can be recorded and sold royalty-free. Many bands covered the song after it became a hit for The Animals.

It was released as a single everywhere but the U.S. and the UK, and it topped the charts in several countries. When it was issued as a single in the U.S. in 1976, after the Beatles had broken up, it crawled about halfway up the Billboard Hot 100.Although it's credited to the team of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, McCartney was its composer. Lennon hated it.If you'd like different instrumentation, please contact me at wilcor@aol.com.

Baritone Horn TC,Bass Trombone,Cornet,Euphonium,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.752458 By Various. By Hildur Gudnadottir. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. Contemporary,Film/TV,Folk,Religious,Sacred. 17 pages. RBMusic #6506025. Published by RBMusic (A0.752458). In 1982, the Vladimir Ilyich Lenin Nuclear Power Plant started a series of tests to simulate an electrical power outage to help create procedures for maintaining the circulation of the reactor coolant for the 60-75 seconds needed until the back-up generators got to full power. This was key to ensure that the coolant pumps did not stop working; otherwise, it could lead to the core overheating or, worse, the core melting down. The first test was unsuccessful, and, after some modifications, the test was repeated in 1984 and 1985. On 25 April 1986, a fourth test was scheduled to take place at 1415hrs during a controlled power-down of one of the reactors. However, at 1400hrs, another regional power station went offline, causing the test to be delayed by 10-hours. With the well-prepared day and evening crews’ shifts over, the test was left to the unprepared night crew. Unbeknownst to them, safety systems and protocols had been disabled or ignored earlier in the day, power-output issues had left the reactor in an unstable condition and there were basic design flaws with the reactor when it was constructed. All of this led to an uncontrolled chain reaction and, at some point around 01:23:45 in the morning of 26 April 1986, explosions and a fire destroyed a reactor building of reactor number 4 at Chernobyl. Radioactive contamination was released into the surrounding areas, 100,000s of people were evacuated, a 30-kilometre exclusion zone was put in place and whilst, officially, only 31 people died from this disaster, it has been estimated that between 4,000 and 16,000 fatalities are related to the events of that day. The area is likely to be unsafe for the next 20,000 years. The soundtrack to the TV mini-series Chernobyl is by the Icelandic composer, Hildur Guðnadóttir. The music is made, almost entirely, from sounds that she recorded at a decommissioned Nuclear power plant in Lithuania, giving it a very raw quality. She says the show itself portrays the disaster with respect and realism, and I was adamant the score reflects this. I wanted to show the viewer how it would feel to be there, and to tell this story of fear, loss and, ultimately, human error. Vichnaya Pamyat translated to Memory Eternal in Ukrainian, but a better English equivalent would be Rest in Peace. It is a hymn used during Ukrainian Orthodox Christian church funerals and memorial services.  Guðnadóttir’s arrangement is heard at the end of the final episode of the series. This arrangement is not in the original key and has been transposed to make it easier to play. A version in the original key is available, item number H0.1099667-SC004126925. The arrangement also includes alternative parts for tenor horn, treble-clef trombone/euphonium and tuba.
