Program Notes: The fact that the text for this work even exists is a miracle. It was written by Abraham (Abramek) Koplowicz, a Jewish boy who was exterminated by the Nazis during the Holocaust. Abramek was born in 1930 in Lodz, Poland, and died 1944 in that country's infamous concentration camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau. He wrote this poem during the time that his family was trapped in the Lodz ghetto. This poem was not found until 1983 when Eliezer (Lolek) Grynfeld, the poet's half-brother, discovered it among their late father's belongings. Choristers who sing this work will be transported on a magical flight around the world through time and space along with their audiences. —A Dream (Marzenie)When I am twenty years of age,I will burst forth from this cageAnd begin to see our splendid EarthFor the first time since my birth! In my motorized bird I’ll soar so highAbove the world, up in the sky,Over rivers and the seas, With such stupefying ease,With my brother wind and sister cloud, I’llMarvel at the Euphrates and the Nile; The goddess Isis ruled the land that linksThe Pyramids and the massive Sphynx.I will glide above Niagara Falls,And sunbathe where the Sahara calls; If I want to escape the scorching heat,I will fly up north to an Arctic retreat.I will top the cloudy peaks of Tibetan fameAnd survey the fabled land whence the Magi came. From the Island of KangaroosI’ll take my time and cruiseTo the ruins of Pompeii          At the edge of Naples Bay,I’ll continue to the Holy Land, then seekThe home of Homer, the celebrated Greek.More and more astonished will I growAt the beauty of the Earth below. In all my travelling I’ll be twinnedWith my siblings, cloud and wind.—Abraham (“Abramekâ€) Koplowicz (b. 1930, Lodz, Poland, d. 1944, Auschwitz-Birkenau)Translation by Sarah Lawson and MaÅ‚gorzata Koraszewska© Copyright 1993 by Eliezer Grynfeld. Piano,Trumpet - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.750361 Composed by Alex Lewis, Eddie Lewis. Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score and part. 6 pages. Tiger Music #6339105. Published by Tiger Music (A0.750361). Although this composition is called Belief, it doesn't sound particularly religious (to my ears). There is a musical program you might have heard about called Finale. On Finale, you can type in notes for instruments and play it back in real time to hear your new creation. When I played it, I got the idea for the name Belief because it sounded so much like a musical theme from a kids' movie. Anyone who starts playing the trumpet naturally believes that they will eventually learn how to play the trumpet. People usually think they will be successful at any project whenever they start. Now real life is more complicated than that, of course. But I think Belief is a fitting piece for somebody in the Trumpet Pioneer stage. It's a more simple time. Since it's a simple time, the message should be simple as well. This is a wonderful first performance piece for trumpet players to learn. They can learn it after only a few lessons and already sound good when they perform with a pianist. This would be good to use for a concert at a church or school. Buy this composition, practice it, and play it in front of friends and family and your school or church.

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.746511 Composed by Keith Terrett. 20th Century,Patriotic,World. 32 pages. Keith Terrett #1989071. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.746511). A slow march I entitled The Royal Hussar, is an original ceremonial slow march of mine, suitable for indoor or outdoor performance. Slow March: This is a ceremonial pace, used for funeral marches and when a unit’s colours are marched out in front of the troops. The feet are kept parallel to the ground and the arms are never used. In the United States Marine Corps, arms swing as the distance they normally would in quicktime, but at the same pace as marching. U.S. Marine Color Guards do not swing their arms. Slow March is typically used in the Marine Corps for funeral details and ceremonies such as the Marine Corps Ball (when the cake is escorted out). In Spain, Latin America, and the Philippines this is done during religious processions whenever a military band joins it. This march style is the official parade march in the armed forces of Bolivia and Ecuador and the military academies and schools of Venezuela, done with the goose step during parades and ceremonies. The standard pace is 60 paces per minute. Famous slow marches include:Preobrajensky Regimental Slow March Presented to the Royal Marines by Admiral of the Fleet The Earl Mountbatten of Burma on 10th June 1964 and first performed as the Regimental Slow March of the Royal Marines on Horse Guards Parade that night. The march was composed by the Russian composer Donajowsky for the Russian Tzar’s Preobrajensky Guard. The Royal Hussars Slow March ’Coburg’, a tune composed by Haydn and arranged by Grant-James in the late 19th Century, is without doubt one of the most well-known and famous Slow Marches to be written. ’The Eagle’, which itself is a combination of the 14th and 20th Hussars slow marches is also a very strong march, but not widely known outside 14th/20th King’s Hussars’ circles. The Garb of Old Gaul (sometimes given as Auld Gaul) is an 18th-century patriotic Scottish march and song about Highland soldiers during the Seven Years War. The music was written by General John Reid, who was a senior officer of the 42nd Regiment of Foot (The Black Watch) during the Seven Years War. The words have traditionally been attributed to Sir Harry Erskine (1710 -1765). Robert Burns described it as This excellent loyal Scottish song and states that it first appeared in print in Herd’s Collection of 1769. Alternative titles include The Highland Character and The Highland or 42nd Regiment’s March. The tune was originally a quick march but was later rearranged as a slow march. Other famous slow marches of the British Army include Golden Spurs & Scipio. Put away Scipio, Coburg & Garb of Old gaul, time for a newcomer on the block! Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1028776 Composed by Colby A. Aguilar. 20th Century. 58 pages. Colby Aguilar #3927015. Published by Colby Aguilar (A0.1028776). Si Je Peut T'Aimer details the emotion of love through various seasons from the fruits of Spring to the requiems of Winter, and the roller-coaster rides throughout. Near the end, desperation starts to show, but as acceptance starts to settle in, the music slows and ends with a cadence signifying that it's time to move on.It can be performed by anyone who'd like to use, I have no set audience in mind. It can be performed by schools if they so wish and can be used to show the various displays of emotion that music can display using different methods of composition. However, I would refrain from any sorts of religious service as this is best served as entertainment.                                                                                                                                                                                                                   In regards to the choir, stagger breathing is highly recommended for the difficult parts, or whenever feels necessary- which could be after ever dotted half note/ measure, or after every phrase. The dynamics are left to the director or the people who shall perform it. This leaves it to be personalised for each group, and unique to each one's own story; I just gave the template.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       To note: one can replace the choir with another 2 cellos and 2 violins, if desired. It is also important to note that when playing, the choir is the accompaniment to the piano and strings, and serves to reinforce the story that is being told, not explicitly telling the story itself.                                                                                                                                                                                     .

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.970731 Composed by Mike Strand. Contemporary,Jazz,World. Score and parts. 36 pages. Michael M. Strand #4837117. Published by Michael M. Strand (A0.970731). By Mike Strand, ASCAP I wrote this String Quartet in a composition class at the College of William and Mary in 2010.  It is brief and rich with variety, and it involves a technique of mine called fracturing (see note* below).  This causes the dissonance you'll hear in parts of this work.On one occasion, when I felt stressed, I enjoyed listening to Morton Feldman's String Quartet II (1983), which lasts about 6 hours.  This quiet but lovely music soothed and pacified me.  On the other hand, if you want something to energize and alert you in less than 11 minutes, this quartet may be for you --  whenever you acquire a recording of it by some lucky quartet ensemble.  Have a cup of coffee with it, for insurance! In the meantime, enjoy the audio sample, Movement I of my quartet.  This alone may suffice to get you going, in only two and a half minutes. String Quartet - William and Mary:   Four movements, total time 10:45: I. Allegro moderato (2:32) A tango-like dance movement: Preface, Introduction, A, B, A’, C, Coda (two variations). II. Lento (2:44) Counting to twenty in 5-4, 4-4, and 12-8 time. 5-4 time predominates (five groups of four measures each), then 4-4 (two groups of five measures each) and 12-8 (one group of five measures). Throughout there are 72 counts per minute, with quarter notes counted in the 5-4 and 4-4 time signatures, and with dotted quarter notes counted in the 12-8 time signature. The five measures of 12-8 also introduce the theme for movement III.Fun with three different time signatures! III. Allegro (2:11) Variations on a Scottish-like folk tune and fragments of it. One variation is an example of tonal pointillism. The closing measures are an extended coda based on a transformed version of the original tune. IV. Swing (3:18) West Coast swing tempo for the Introduction and Part A; triple swing tempo for Part B.  Note* on the fracturing technique This is my method to produce systematically new types of dissonance and corresponding modifications and resolutions. Fracturing consists of changing pitches in a melody or chord as follows: (a) Decide on the root note position within the staff or line of music. (b) Represent the applicable chord in half-step notation, with the root given the value 0. (c) Alternatively subtract and add a prescribed number of half steps from, and to, each successive number in the annotated chord (except for the root). (d) Use the new fractured annotation to define the new pitches. The actual or implied root of the chord (tonal center) remains unchanged. The resulting new chord or melody is thus related or resolvable to the parent tonal harmony or chord. Fracturing appears mainly in the first and third movements, with spare use in the second and fourth movements.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.957954 Composed by Joshua Sharo. Contemporary,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Joshua Sharo #3096361. Published by Joshua Sharo (A0.957954). Practice Tips: In order to play this piece, you must be able to play octave chords with multiple notes and be able to fluidly switch hand positions. Keep in mind that an F-flat is an E, an E double-flat is a D, and a B double-flat is an A. The third beat of measure 22, then, is a third: A-C. The right hand ostinato (repeating pattern) will get annoying if you play the B-flats too loudly. Instead, voice the lower notes whenever the pattern appears. The left hand has the melody in the second two lines of the piece. Make sure to voice the top of all of the chords. When the right hand enters with the same melody, it also continues some of the opening ostinato – make sure that the theme is clearly heard. Don't get too loud in measure 15. Remember that the loudest section is still to come! There are a lot of notes in measures 21-26. If you're not careful, it will sound muddy and dull. Give the most attention to the top note of the right hand and the bottom note of the left hand – this will help make your sound more clear. If you are having problems with some of the jumps (such as the left hand in measure 23), make sure you have a good fingering and then drill it multiple times. Start at a very slow metronome speed and gradually move up by 5 BPM until it gets too hard. If you do this day after day, you should eventually be able to play it! If this piece is too difficult, there exists an alternate version in C major. Most of the hard jumps have been removed. The end is also slightly different and should be easier to voice.

Violin Duet Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.876523 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Joe Procopio. Classical,Romantic Period. 11 pages. JoeCopio Music LLC #1996123. Published by JoeCopio Music LLC (A0.876523). THE BEETHOVEN DUETS By Joe Procopio The Beethoven Duets by Joe Procopio is a collection of duets that artist -composer Joe Procopio has adapted and arranged from the 9 Scherzi found in Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9 Symphonies. These duets are unique. They can be performed as a duet for Violin I and Violin II and as a Violin ensemble in groups of 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. Each Scherzo is published for many other orchestral instruments. They are published individually for each instrument; in a Three Volume Collection with 3 Scherzi in each volume; and in a Complete Collection containing all three volumes. Volume One has Scherzo No.1, Scherzo No. 2 and Scherzo No.3. Volume Two has Scherzo No.4, Scherzo No 5 and Scherzo No.6. Volume Three has Scherzo No.7, Scherzo No.8 and Scherzo No.9. The Complete Collection has all 3 Volumes for each instrument with all 9 Scherzi. What’s more they will soon be published in the Procopio PlayAlong Music Program. This is an exclusive MP3 music audio program personally designed and developed in which Player 1 plays along with a music audio track for Player 2. To be sure, The Beethoven Scherzi Duets for Violin are a marvel of Beethoven’s skill with sections reaching the sublime. It is my deep felt personal belief that these Scherzi will bring you great pleasure and long lasting satisfaction. Joe Procopio AN INTRODUCTION TO THE BEETHOVEN DUETS By Joe Procopio Because of the complexities, range and sonorities inherent in all of the Beethoven Symphonies, it may seem impossible to transcribe any one movement as a duet that is true to the composer. Nevertheless, I believe these duets contain the heart, soul and essence of Beethoven’s melodies, rhythms and expressions; even though these works are tiny when they are compared to the Master’s great musical creations which have no equal. In fact, there is no comparison. However, my sincere hope is that since I have rendered some of Beethoven’s music as duets, his music is now more readily available to all permitting a greater number of musicians and all the people who hear their performances to come to know and love a bit of the world’s most valuable, breathtaking and beautiful music. In truth, Beethoven’s music has stood the test of time. He astonished people in his day whenever he performed his music or had his music played. He still does today. To be sure, his music has enhanced and enriched the lives of many of us for over 200 years. In performing and listening to these Scherzi you will find the whole of each work a marvel of Beethoven’s skill with sections reaching the sublime. Few composers have been able to write down on paper music of such incredible beauty that it reflects the awesome splendor of God’s creation. What comes to mind immediately is Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony No. 6. It has been said, that much of his music mirrors not only the magnificence of God’s creation but also the radiance of God the Creator himself. In any event, this music is simply amazing and awe-inspiring. A joy to listen to and to play. I know and can safely say without any hesitation or reservations that this collection will bring you much enjoyment.
