Concert band - Grade 2 - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CBS166-S Composed by Gregory Hoepfner. Score. 17 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CBS166-S. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBS166-S). 9 x 12 in inches. My father enjoyed singing, particularly when the family went on road trips. One of our favorite songs that he sang was TheFar North Land. Several years ago, my sister recorded our father singing this song for use on the soundtrack of one of hermovies. Years later I transcribed the song from that recording and used it as the foundation for this piece. My aunts tell methey recall my father singing this song when he was a boy growing up in Minnesota, and that they referred to it as Fletch'ssong. It was only while working on this piece that I discovered that Duncan, Clear Water and Bear Skin are actual lakes inthe border lakes region where Minnesota meets Canada. The original arrangement, for string quartet, was premiered by the OdeonQuartet on October 21, 2003, at Seattle's TownHall.

Score. 8 pages. Timothy Stapay #811949. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1215086). The music was written by Johnny Mandel with the lyrics written by Paul Francis Webster. It won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year and the Academy Award for Best Original Song.  In 2004 the song finished at number 77 in AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs poll of the top tunes in American cinema.   Lyrics Below:The shadow of your smileWhen you have goneWill color all my dreamsAnd light the dawnLook into my eyes, my love, and seeAll the lovely things, you are, to meOur wistful little starIt was far, too highA teardrop kissed your lipsAnd so, so did iNow when I remember springAnd every little lovely thingI will be rememberingThe shadow of your smileYour lovely smile

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.971806 Composed by Britt Andrew Burns. Contemporary. Score and parts. 90 pages. Indie Classical Publications #2877673. Published by Indie Classical Publications (A0.971806). OVERCAST was originally written as part of a three-movement work for solo trombone and piano. When I was composing the original work, I wanted to create an additional arrangement of the 3rd movement (DRIZZLE) for concert band. The work is inspired by the brief period of my life when I lived abroad in England. As many people are aware, it rains constantly in Great Britain, thus making it an easy inspiration for music. Even though I consider this work somewhat melancholic, it is meant to also reflect the warmth and comfort I felt while living in the country where I met so many wonderful people. Other inspiration for this movement came from Ralph Vaughan William's Pastoral Symphony, most notably, the 4th movement. Grade 4.  Duration: 5:50

Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.841181 By James Taylor. By James Taylor. Arranged by John Murphy C.S.M.V. Rock. Guitar Tab. 4 pages. John Murphy #5793043. Published by John Murphy (A0.841181). You can close your eyes     James TaylorLearn this classic James Taylor song and master his characteristic finger picking guitar technique. You will learn: 4/4 Fingerpicking rhythm patterns that you can use in many other songs and other genres.Popular and widely used great guitar chord inversions (also sometimes called slash chords, e.g. G/B )to create interesting bass lines that complement the melody of the tune and give direction and forward momentum to the song’s chord progression. Bass driven chord progressions are a characteristic feature of accomplished guitarists like James Taylor and Chet Atkins.‘Clawhammer’ technique or ‘Travis picking’ are the names often given to a style of playing four bass notes to the bar (usually alternating from root to fifth of the chord played with the R.H.thumb). If you listen to the great country guitarist Chet Atkins you will hear this ‘clawhammer’ style in most of his guitar arrangements.Useful hammer-ons/pull-offs and passing notes that will improve your technique and add a professional touch to enhance your guitar performances. See bar for 8 hammer on the A sus chord and also on the B minor in bar 32. Note the pull off on G chord in bar 11.Intro and outro sections are included in this James Taylor guitar arrangement of ‘You can close your eyes’Most songs have intros and outros so that the singer can get the tempo and start in the right key. However, many published arrangements often just start on a pick-up note or two on the last beat of the bar with no chord indicated and end the song on a chord that is not the tonic or main key chord that tells the listener the song has ended. ‘Leaving On A Jet Plane’ by John Denver is a good example. In the key of ‘D’ the song starts with the notes ‘C#’ and ‘E’ and then the first bar is indicated as ‘D’ major chord. If you start the song playing a ‘D’ chord you will most likely sing the wrong notes because ‘C#’ and ‘E’ belong to the A7 chord of the song. So a simple 2 bar intro of ‘D’ , A7 (start singing on the last beat) and back to ‘D’ would help the singer to get the tempo and sing the correct pick-up notes. The printed sheet music of ‘Leaving On A Jet Plane’ ends on an ‘A7’ chord of the chorus and as such does not indicate that the end chord should be ‘D’. So it is not always safe to assume that the end chord in printed music indicates the key of the song. Lyrics with chord symbols to show when to change chords. Matching the fingerpicking tab or sheet music to the lyrics can sometimes prove difficult so I have included a lyrics sheet of ‘You can close your eyes’ with chord symbols. This is a very popular format to give an indication when to change chords. However, the drawback is that there is no way of knowing how long each chord lasts as the bar structure is missing. But once you learn the bar structure from the sheet music or tab part you will find this Lyrics and chords sheet of ‘You can close your eyes’ your go to page for performing the song until you know it from memory.Downloads available Include:Score Tab Chords Lyrics For GuitarNotes Chords Lyrics  For GuitarTab Chords Lyrics  For GuitarIf you like or buy this arrangement it helps if you leave even a brief review- two words( very good) or even better one word (Awesome) :)Contact me at info@guitarlessonsdundrum.com

I have memories of being on the front row of church as a little girl, singing as loud as I could. The album is a tribute to my parents who raised my sisters and I to love God, our country and our families. As many musicians do, I got my start in the church, playing the piano for the Children’s church at the age of 10. It didn’t take long before I started sitting at a 9’ Steinway opposite an incredible organist who changed keys as often as a woman changes her clothes. I fell in love with the simplicity of the hymns and with the many fun arrangements that were possible. The lyrics of some of these hymns have been ingrained in my soul and have brought me comfort, deepened my faith, and have taught me that when all is said and done, the Truth and Faithfulness of God are what will carry me through. If you’re searching for: Christian music, inspirational music or church hymns, consider My Father’s Favorite Hymns. Songs include: Tell Me the Old Old Story; Just a Closer Walk with Thee; Great is Thy Faithfulness; Immortal Invisible; Amazing Grace/It is Well; Your Truth it Stands; Glory to His Name; Stand Up for Jesus/Leaning on the Everlasting Arms; In the Garden; Were You There when they Crucified my Lord? (acapella); What a Friend we Have in Jesus; You are Faithful, You are Lord. Separate song downloads also available, where you can hear and preview each selection. From the album up for a 2012 GRAMMY Award®: My Father’s Favorite Hymns, available on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/music/player/albums/B008O86FQI) or on the website (https://DJWorksMusic.com/products) by Deborah Johnson. Marching Band - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.886865 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Justin M. Ryan. Children. Score and parts. 1 pages. Justin M. Ryan #3001355. Published by Justin M. Ryan (A0.886865). This song is based on the Traditional Song Here We Go Around the Mulberry Bush. A perfect song to teacher your children about different percussion instruments and how they work. It also works well when you are teaching kids how to stay in line or march single file. It is broken up into 2 sections. The first section is for teaching and more relaxed rhythmically. The second section is used for the marching portion. Each child should have a chance using the instruments notated in the music. This song also encourages good listening skills. When the teacher says play the drum, only children with a drum should play. It also increases use of motor skills with the different actions such as shake, scrape etc.

Chamber Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869215 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Contemporary,Sacred. Score and parts. 94 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #2016287. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869215). During the spring of the Millennial year 2000, music director John Finney and the Boston College University Chorale premiered my Mass for the Holy Year 2000 for chorus and orchestra in Trinity Chapel at Boston College. It was a large work, close to an hour long in duration. It was a momentous occasion and I was extremely pleased with the performance by John and the BC University Chorale. Ten years later in anticipation of the 150th Anniversary of the founding of Boston College, I decided that I wanted to write another choral work for the BC Chorale. This time the subject would be something directly connected to the Jesuit identity of Boston College. I chose for text the poems of Gerard Manley Hopkins, S.J. (1844-1889). This Manley Hopkins project would come in two parts. Part One would be a private uttering of faith in God, and Part Two would be a public declamation of the same topic. The private utterance would be in a chamber setting. I decided on a song cycle setting for soprano and piano. The public declamation would be the choral work with orchestra for the Boston College University Chorale. 1. Part The First … THOU mastering me God! (2010) for soprano and piano The ten poems for this song cycle came from GMH's The Wreck of the Deutschland, Part the First. This 30-minute song cycle was premiered in Bapst Library on March 31, 2011. The performers were Megan Stapleton, soprano, and Diane Braun, piano. 2. God's Grandeur (2012) for SATB chorus and chamber orchestra. For this work I chose five poems by GMH. Pied Beauty God's Grandeur The Habit of Perfection Thou Art Indeed Just, Lord. Inversnaid Why did I choose GMH's work besides the fact that he was a Jesuit? I was very surprised and thrilled that his poems are so fanciful, imaginative and abstract in form and content for someone who lived in the 19th century. These abstract poetic qualities are the very things that a composer in the 20th and 21st centuries would find inspiring when they are seeking texts for musical settings. I did indeed find the sound and silences of GMH's words quite inspirational. Hearing music in those words came directly and quickly as I was working on the piece. I hope the audience will enjoy the work as much as I did when I was creating it.

Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928332 By Patsy Cline. By Willie Nelson. Arranged by Karen Peterson. Country. Score. 3 pages. Karen Peterson #5993773. Published by Karen Peterson (A0.928332). WATCH THE Bb VERSION: You are viewing the arrangement for lap harp, which is in the key of F. To hear the Bb version played on a larger harp, go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8WfrwixqGkOverview: This Countrypolitan song made famous by Patsy Cline was written by a not-yet-famous Willie Nelson. The attitude of the protagonist has been described as variously bemused, bittersweet, and cathartic. What is it to you, and how can you bring that emotion into your playing? My double-strung arrangement sets accidentals in the LH prior to playing, allowing the song to proceed without lever flips. The optional lever flip at the very end can be easily eliminated, making this song a great opportunity to practice flipping on the right with an easy recovery if you can’t get it in time.Key and range: F major (one flat). 21x2 strings. G below middle C through F. Preset F#, G#, B natural, and C#. (LARGER HARPS: For harps with C below middle C or lower, get the Bb version here: www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/crazy-patsy-cline-for-double-strung-harp-digital-sheet-music/21815694)Lever changes: One optional lever change on the right. Set four accidentals on the left before playing.Good for: Parties, performance.Double-strung effects: Preset accidentals on the left allow for jazzy chords without lever flips. If you’ve been hesitant about moving your LH into the melody area, this is your chance to learn. You can gently move out of your comfort zone by only switching hands for these accidentals, or you can take it a step further with optional echoed notes and an optional RH lever flip.Characteristics: The LH and RH usually play together, but with several held notes and a melody that doesn’t always strike on the downbeat, the hands play separately at least 25% of the time. There are a few instances that call for wider than an octave spread. Most chords are LH 1-5-8, 1-5-7, or 1-3-5-8. The RH has almost no chords. There are very few sixteenth notes. The most complicated placements are in the introduction with one slide and one cross-over.Finger placement: Finger number suggestions are provided for key phrases with bolded L/R for levered accidentals. Numbers above the notes are suggestions for the RH (marked with R or R# when they occur in the bottom staff). Numbers below the notes are suggestions for the LH (marked with L or L# when they occur in the top staff).Notation: Chord symbols are provided; lyrics are included separately. Treble clef used in both staves.Length: 2 pages. 40 measures. 2:30 minutes.Page turns: None if you print.

Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1158398 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Historic,Patriotic. 18 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #758679. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158398). Composed to commemorate the 20th year of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. This somber, gorgeous piece of music draws tears when presented correctly, and is an extraordinarily important contribution to the brass quintet repertoire. The Jewish “feast†(or “appointed timeâ€) of trumpets, as outlined in Leviticus 23:24-25, prescribes the observance: “Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord.†According to the Jewish calendar, the feast of trumpets in 2001 coincided exactly with the 9-11 attacks, which could indeed be thought of as “an offering made by fire.†Effectively no servile work was done on that day throughout the attacked nation, and it has indeed become a somber type of “sabbath†to observe every year. It seemed extraordinarily appropriate—perhaps even requisite—that a somber composition with trumpets be composed for the 20th annual observance of the horrific attacks on American soil, as a “Memorial†to those lost that day, and those who since perished in the Global War on Terror. “Where were you when you first heard about the 9-11 attacks?†This common question is posed to those who were of age to comprehend what had happened in 2001. Personally, I had just listened to an emotional rendition of Maurice Ravel’s “Pavane to a Dead Princess.†Elements of that musical memory influenced this present work “Memorial.†Other sources of inspiration—whether intended or subconscious—include Samuel Barber’s heart-wrenching “Adagio for Strings,†Michael Kamen’s “Quintet†for brass, and John Williams’ “Hymn to the Fallen.†The harmonies are thick and often dissonant, including many suspensions. The players get little rest, symbolic of the constant state of alertness of a shocked nation after being so brutally attacked. Perhaps of greatest symbolic import is the fact that there are exactly 911 notes in this composition. Because of this, it is crucial that the percussion part be performed, and that great care be taken by all performers to refrain from altering the notes or rhythms in any way. A comment on the interpretation of notation: all long notes that are tied to a staccato note on the downbeat are to be held to the downbeat and gently released, not held over.

And it's a song that relates to kids who have lost friends in car accidents, in death, or even going to summer camp and having to leave new friends. The chorus says, 'friends are friends forever.' When I sing it in concert, everybody cries - I still get choked up when I sing it.

Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522194 Composed by Colin Kirkpatrick. Instructional,Standards. Score and part. 28 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #3134129. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522194). My Saxophone and Me consists of fourteen short and delightful pieces written especially for absolute beginners up to students at elementary level. The book comes in two versions, one for B flat saxophones and the other for E flat instruments. However, for obvious reasons you cannot mix B flat and E flat instruments in the same group.   The pieces are intended as supplementary material to your usual tutor books. The music can be used with any number of players and the pieces remain in the lower register. Several early pieces use only the notes B, A and G and the key of G major predominates. Six of the pieces use only half notes (minims) and quarter notes (crotchets). The low C, a tricky note for some beginners, has been avoided almost completely. On the one occasion it appears, the note C an octave above is given as optional. Although the pieces are arranged in approximate order of difficulty you can play them in any order you want, depending on the musical needs of the student. Your students are sure to enjoy these pieces, which are both easy on the fingers and easy on the ear! Several pieces have a few measures (bars) rest in the middle not only to give the player a break and add musical contrast but also to give the experience of counting empty bars during the music. When space allows, piano cues appear in the solo part. Some of the later pieces in the book have good performing potential and could be strung together in any order to create a small suite. Every piece has a short piano introduction so that the student can sense the tempo and musical style before playing. The keyboard accompaniments have been kept as simple as possible with the minimum number of notes. Dynamic markings (e.g. piano and mezzo-forte) are used from the start, but phrasing has been omitted from the solo part. This is because the teacher is usually in the best position to suggest phrasing within the physical capabilities of each student. Slurs have been employed sparingly and only when necessary. An MP3 file of all the piano accompaniments is also available as a separate item. You can find it here: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/20679821The book includes a well-known folk lullaby from Wales and a lively folk song from Thailand which is known by all Thai people because it’s taught in elementary schools throughout the country. The music has been converted into pdf files at 1,200 dpi which will produce professional looking printed copies of high quality. However, the output quality will also depend on your own printer settings and capabilities. The publication consists of a teacher's book (18 pages) and a student's book (8 pages) both contained in the same pdf file. The sample MP3 (click on the “Listen†button above) contains recordings of Nice ‘n Easy  (No 2); Lazy Days (No 4); Waltzing Around (No 7); Just a Minuet (No 11) and Donkey Trot (No 12). MTC Publishing #860686. Published by MTC Publishing (A0.1268127). Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer - Arrangement for Voice, Piano and Guitar by Michael Thomas CoullGrandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer is a novelty holiday song.  Written by Randy Brooks, the song was originally performed by Elmo & Patsy, the husband-and-wife duo of Elmo Shropshire and Patsy Trigg in 1979. The lyrics tell the story of a grandmother celebrating at a Christmas Eve party with her family when, while drunk on eggnog and off her medication, she staggers out into a snowstorm despite everyone imploring her not to.  She is found the next day, trampled; Santa and his reindeer are determined to be the culprits when 'incriminating Claus marks' are found on Grandma's back.  Grandpa seems completely unfazed by his wife's demise and spends the holiday 'watching football, drinking beer and playing cards with cousin Mel', while the rest of the family mourns Grandma's death and wonders if the gifts they bought for her should be returned.  Christmas dinner otherwise goes on as normal, with a centrepiece of roast goose, figgy pudding for dessert, and 'blue and silver candles' to match Grandma’s hairpiece.  The upshot is a warning to the listeners that Santa is unfit to carry a driver's license! This arrangment of Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer is for solo voice, piano and guitar, but also contains harmonized sections (backing 'oohs', and the final few bars) that also enable this arrangment to be performed by an SSA choir - with the majority of it sung in unison.  However it is performed, it is a great choice for a fun, novelty song for Christmas.
