Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1251667 Composed by St. Alfonso Maria de' Liguori (traditional Neapolitan tune). Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. Christmas,Classical,Renaissance,Sacred,Traditional. Octavo. 14 pages. Scott S. Stewart #845928. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.1251667). Giuseppe Verdi was quoted to say: There is no Christmas without ‘Tu scendi dalle stelle’. This ‘canto di Natale’ is truly a ‘native’ seasonal pastoral, and was probably a popular Neaploitan folk tune of his time, when St. Alfonso Maria de’ Liguori composed his ‘Tu scendi dalle stelle’ in 1732.  This tune evolved when Pope Pius IX gave it its current Italian text.  This traditional Christmas tune is arranged for 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment.  It uses the original Italian text of Pope Piius IX.  Performance time: 5:00+-.

Saxophone Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1092467 Composed by Francesco Durante. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Instructional,Sacred. 8 pages. Regis Bookshar #696560. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1092467). Kyrie - by Francesco Durante; Saxophone Quartet – Intermediate – Digital Download. “Kyrieâ€, originally written for a four-part vocal ensemble by Francesco Durante, has now been transcribed, edited and arranged by Regis Bookshar, for a Saxophone Quartet, consisting of 2 Alto Saxophones and 2 Tenor Saxophones. It would be a welcomed addition to any music library. This short composition, which lasts less than two minutes, will provide many students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long phrases, and to help them to continue to develop good intonation because many of the phrases cadence on a unison note. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services. It is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (8 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble’s extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quartet version of this composition for many church services, especially funerals, when we were asked to supply something more somber and introspective rather than the louder, more festive music which many people come to expect from a Trumpet Ensemble. Francesco Durante was an Italian composer who was born on March 31, 1684 at Frattamaggiore, in the Kingdom of Naples. At an early age he entered the Conservatorio dei poveri di Gesu Cristo, in Naples, where he received lessons from Gaetano Greco. Later he became a pupil of Alessandro Scarlatti at the Conservatorio di Sant’Onofrio. He is said to have succeeded Scarlatti in 1725 at Sant’Onofrio and to have remained there until 1742, when he succeeded Nicola Porpora as head of the Conservatorio di Santa Maria de Loreto, also in Naples. He held this post for thirteen years, until his death on September 30, 1755. His fame as a teacher was considerable, and, unlike his Neapolitan contemporaries, who attracted international notice with their operas, Francesco Durante achieved recognition through his church music, along with some vocal chamber and instrumental works. His concern was not quantity. A complete collection of Durante’s works, consisting almost exclusively of sacred music, was presented by Gaspare Selveggi, a Neapolitan art collector and music theorist, to the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. The imperial library of Vienna also preserves a valuable collection of Durante’s manuscripts. The fact that Durante never composed for the stage brought him an exaggerated reputation as a composer of sacred music. He was considered one of the best church composers of his style and period. In his masses, requiems, litanies and Lamentations, he could provide strong expressive moments, as he does in this “Kyrieâ€. In addition to this arrangement for a Saxophone Quartet, Regis Bookshar has also made other arrangements of this selection. There are Quartets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I’m certain that this beautiful arrangement of Francesco Durante’s “Kyrie†will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Choral Choir,Choral (TB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1346467 Composed by Franz Schubert. Arranged by D. Jason Bishop. 19th Century,Classical,Instructional,Romantic Period. 8 pages. Tully Road Music #931253. Published by Tully Road Music (A0.1346467). Die Forelle (D. 550, Op. 32) is among Schubert’s early contributions to the genre of the Lied, a 19th-century German art song for solo voice and piano. Schubert composed over 600 Lieder, and although many of them became popular, Die Forelle was – and still is – one of the most widely recognized and performed. Composed in 1817, Die Forelle takes its text from a 1783 poem of the same name by Christian Friedrich Daniel Schubart. In it, a casual observer stands on the banks of a tranquil stream, admiring the movements of a “frisky†fish as it darts below the surface. The tone of the music changes when, to the observer’s horror, a fisherman puts an end to both his and the trout’s merriment by snagging the fish on his hook and reeling him in. In a final stanza which Schubert omits from his setting, we learn that Schubart’s poem is actually a metaphorical story intended to warn young women against the trickery of their young male suitors. As in Gretchen am Spinnrade and many other Lieder, Schubert “characterizes†the piano accompaniment, in this case through both the upward-winding sixteenth-note triplets representing the wriggling movements of a fish, and the abrupt shift towards agitated rhythms in measure 33 when the fish is hooked. The song gained such swift popularity that only two years after its composition in 1817, Schubert was commissioned to write an instrumental chamber work incorporating music from Die Forelle. The result was his Trout Quintet of 1819 (Piano Quintet in A Major, D. 667), the fourth movement of which is a set of variations on the Die Forelle tune. This arrangement is also available for 3-part treble (SSA) voices published by Hal Leonard Corporation, 10500871.

Organ: 3-staff - Intermediate SKU: LO.70-1320S Short Improvisations in All Keys. Composed by Dale Wood. Sacred. Sacred Music Press #70/1320S. Published by Sacred Music Press (LO.70-1320S). UPC: 000308048834.These little interludes are designed for moments in the worship service when the organist is obliged to play short improvisations, yet feels improvisationally challenged. Whether the need is to cover the sound of shuffling feet as latecomers are seated or simply to establish a contemplative ambience, organists will find many uses for these short interludes in all keys. While some organ registrations and dynamic levels are suggested, the organist is advised to select stops that best suit the immediate moment of use. The majority of interludes in the service call for Flute or string celestas and other soft stops. A few of these pieces also present possibilities for using fuller or brighter combinations. It is hoped that this collection will serve well when there is a sudden need for the organist to provide (as a colleague so apply puts it)ecclesiastical traveling music.

Downloadable, Study score. Op. 55. Ernst Eulenburg & Co. GmbH - Digital #Q19576. Published by Ernst Eulenburg & Co. GmbH - Digital (S9.Q19576). Key: E flat major. German • English.'So he too is nothing more than an ordinary man. [...] he will place himself above everyone else and become a tyrant!' is what Beethoven is said to have shouted full of rage when Napoleon had declared himself emperor, and supposedly tore the title page of Symphony No. 3 headed 'Bonaparte' to pieces. Despite his anger, however, the work was again headed 'Bonaparte' when he wanted to publish it in 1804. But it was the first edition of 1806 which finally bore the title of Sinfonia eroica. Symphony No. 3 was Beethoven's first work in which he had come to terms with his progressing deafness and left the boundaries of the musical conventions far behind.

Easy Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.910397 Composed by Roger Evernden. 20th Century,Contemporary,New Age. Score. 5 pages. Roger Brian Evernden #5314429. Published by Roger Brian Evernden (A0.910397). I wrote For Planet Earth at a time when bush fires were raging out of control in Australia. I was worried for family and friends living there, and I was concerned at the damage we were causing to our home planet. In times of climate change, an increasing divide between the rich and poor, and the squandering of precious resources I wanted to write something to remind us of the beauty and fragility of life on this awesome planet where we are privileged to live. The piece is a simple waltz in 3/4 time. The initial melody is repeated in two variations, then repeated again followed by the 2nd variation. When you play it, please think of our planet and how we must do everything we can to protect and cherish all of the life on it.

Score. 4 pages. Bronze:FX #896342. Published by Bronze:FX (A0.1307054). This arrangement of the favorite hymn tune “Jungst†is perfect for young ringers and beginning choirs, and its lack of special ringing techniques assures a successful performance for all early ability levels. Use it as a fanfare before the congregation sings the lyrics “While By the Sheep We Watched at Night.†Although the Christmas season is an obvious choice, this piece can be used throughout the church calendar year. And if your ensemble is suddenly short a ringer or two, this arrangement includes flexible assignments to make your holidays remain merry. It is also ideal for holiday moments when your handbell choir is asked to perform with little preparation, and suddenly there are too few ringers (or extra ringers home for the holidays). There are two versions included:BFX-019a has assignments for 6-8 ringers playing 2-3 octavesBFX-019b has assignments for 10 ringers playing 3 octavesComplete assignments are enclosed, and the piece is Level 2 when played with the greater number of ringers.Performance time:• 32 seconds.

Instrumental Duet,Piano Flute,Instrumental Duet,Piano,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1298596 Composed by Geraldine (Denny) Green. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical. 32 pages. Geraldine (Denny) Green at Oakmountmusic #888475. Published by Geraldine (Denny) Green at Oakmountmusic (A0.1298596). ALL PURCHASES COME WITH SCORE AND PARTSWhen I was a young child and I would ask my mother for something she would often, in the midst of all her busy jobs, say to me, “Oh, give me a minuet!â€, meaning jokingly a minute, of course, before she could tend to my wishes.  This meant that I grew up believing that a minuet and a minute meant the same thing and could be equally interchanged. You can then imagine my amazement and amusement at around 13/14 years of age when I discovered through my music studies that a minuet was in fact a type of musical form and dance! Therefore, it went without saying that at some point in my music writing life I just HAD to write my Mum a minuet! So, here is the minuet she so often unwittingly asked me for throughout our lives! She attended the premiere of the Flute, violin and piano arrangement in Bolton, UK, and was highly amused (and not a little chuffed) by the story behind the piece!Naturally, the piece is dedicated to my mother, Margaret (Pearl) Denny, and was finally written in June 2015 for Gary Woolf and the Banda Di Musica in Germany. Its duration is about 7/8 minutes long and it is intended for junior strings. Violins 1 and 2 are of moderate difficulty, while the Violin 3/violas, cellos/basses are simpler. There is a violin solo throughout (moderate difficulty), to be played by the Leader, but is not a concerto-style solo, but rather one that weaves in and out of the texture throughout the piece. The piece is in a minuet and Trio style and is light, tuneful and fun. There are 3 arrangements available:No.1 – School Arrangement: Violins 1, 2 and 3, Cellos 1 and 2No.2 – Standard Arrangement: Violins 1 and 2, violas, cellos, Double bassesNo.3 – Violin, flute and piano.  This arrangement is of a more advanced standard than the string orchestra arrangements and would suit players of approximately grade 7 upwards.

Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.898494). Full score. I am a frequent visitor to the Protestant Cemetery in Testaccio, Rome. Shelley, Keats and Corso are buried there among other expatriates who adopted the city of Rome as their own. I am a not a huge fan of the music by Ottorino Respighi, whose work, like the Pines of Rome, reminds too much of Hollywood music scores. But I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered on YouTube a chamber work he wrote for mezzo-soprano and string quartet called “Il Tramonto.†The vocal and string writing are exquisite, quite beautiful and heart-felt. When I looked at the source of the text I saw that it was an Italian translation by Roberto Ascoli of a poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley. That immediately inspired me to do my own musical setting of this poem. Two reasons. One, it has a Rome connection. Two, two of my favorite subjects in music are all there in one poem: love and death. Unfortunately I did not find the original English version to be sufficiently “musical.†The archaic language was a bit leaden and convoluted. On the other hand, the Italian translation is so much more lyrical and transcendental. I divided the poem into five parts. At the end I decided to tag on a text I have wanted to set for quite some time: Media Vita. I think the subject of this Latin text fits beautifully as a coda or “apotheosis†to Il Tramonto. I. Moderato … Già v’ebbe un uomo II. Andante … Ora è sommerso il sole III. Adagio … Il given e la dama giacquer tra il sonno IV. Moderato … Neri gli occhi ma non fulgidi più V. Adagio … Ho tal retaggio che la terra non dà VI. Apotheosis: Largo … Media Vita Enjoy!!!

Small Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533673 Composed by Carson Cooman. Contemporary,Sacred. Score and parts. 134 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3037307. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533673). Symphony No. 3, “Ave Maris Stella†(2005) was written for the Duquesne ContemporaryEnsemble and is dedicated to composer David Stock. Throughout his career, Stock has beena tireless and generous advocate on behalf of new music and living composers. This work isdedicated to him in tribute – as both an important American composer and a significantcontributor to America’s contemporary musical life. The work’s basic source material is the plainchant Ave maris stella (“Hail, star of the seaâ€) –appropriate because of Duquesne’s standing and history as a Catholic university. When thecomposition of this work first began, the original plan was for a celebratory and vibrant piece. As the planning progressed, however, personal circumstances intervened and began to changethe work’s tone – becoming substantially bleaker and more obsessive. The title of the first movement, Pentimento, is defined as “an underlying image in a painting,as an earlier painting, that shows through when the top layer of paint has become transparentwith age.†The melodic and harmonic material for the movement is entirely drawn from theplainchant source, although it is completely transformed and covered up – as in a pentimento. At various points, one can begin to hear the original plainchant “peek out†in subtle ways. The opening section of the movement obsesses again and again on what sounds like a“beginning†– as though it is trying to begin again and again. After a brief bassoon cadenza, afast and driving section starts, marked “sinister.†After driving through a series oftransformations on the plainchant material, a bridge passage leads to further attempts at the“beginning†again. Finally, these attempts are given up, and the plainchant material (theunderlying layer) begins to show through quietly – in preparation for the next movement. In the second movement, Interrupted Motet, the plainchant theme is used in a morestraightforward fashion. After the opening declamatory statements, the following sectionsmove between more free developmental techniques, based on the first movement’stransformations, and “motet†sections – using cantus firmus methods and textures fromRenaissance music. The tone and palate is, however, much darker and more obsessive. There is a brooding ponderousness to these contrapuntal developments. The final motetsection ends in a rageful shout, the plainchant material is presented again in full force, and thepent-up energy dissipates to the close.FluteOboeClarinet in BbBass Clarinet in BbBassoonHorn in F/BbTrumpet in CTrombonePercussion (1 player):tubular bells, vibraphone(Percussionist needs one rosined bow for vibraphone.)PianoViolin IViolin IIViolaCelloContrabass(single strings)This is the complete set of parts.  The full score and the individual parts are avaialbe as seperate items.

Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1493835). Full score.Program note.  I have always been fascinated with Wagner's song cycle Wesendonck Lieder for soprano and orchestra. Of course, the story behind Wagner and Mathilde Wesendonck was even more intriguing. If you don't know the story then you should look it up. When Nancy Braithwaite informed me recently that I have written nine works for her since 1997, that was the year I wrote Yo Picasso for her and her chamber group The Arto Ensemble. I told her, well, let's make it ten. She said her current group, the Rietveld Ensemble, consists of clarinet, violin, viola and cello. That sounds good, but I also suggested adding a soprano voice. She said, fine. That was when I thought I should write Nancy a song cycle using the same Wesendonck poems that Wagner did for his orchestral cycle. 1. Der Engel ... Moderato 2a. Interlude I ... Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.956562 Composed by John Menzies MacFarlane. Arranged by Emilee Yates. Christian,Contemporary,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Emilee Yates #6516791. Published by Emilee Yates (A0.956562). This arrangement is a musical journey depicting God in our everyday life. It was arranged at a very turbulent time in my life when I wondered if God was really there and if He really cared to help me. When listening to this arrangement you will hear anguish, you will hear a soul who's questioning their worth, you will sense some pain. You will also hear and feel that God has not left this soul alone. He is right there riding the waves of life with us whispering, Dearest child, I am here. Let me help you. Let go of the pain and let the Savior take it from you.  This is a musical illustration of God playing an active roll in our real life. Through all the different experiences, the ups and downs, there is beauty. Just like each part of this music plays a part in creating a complete piece, each part of life - turbulent or calm - creates a beautiful existence. .
