Jazz Combo - Digital Download SKU: A0.979642 Composed by Roger Aldridge. Blues,Jazz. Score and parts. 1 pages. Roger Aldridge #432833. Published by Roger Aldridge (A0.979642). A slow, soulful blues for those times when we need to play a slow, soulful blues. The title comes from a day when I was reflecting upon lost ancient civilizations and wondering about their music. What did the music sound like? Did the musicians back then have steady gigs? This is a fairly conventional 12-bar blues, however it has some interesting quirks. The 4th bar has a sustained C with V7 (#9) chords moving chromatically upwards against it. In terms of conventional harmony, the C is a wrong note on several of the chords (like the Db7). The chord changes have reharmonization in several places. The ending, with a shift to major 7th chords, is unusual for a blues. Woodwind Ensemble Bassoon - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1092442 Composed by Francesco Durante. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Instructional,Sacred. 7 pages. Regis Bookshar #696534. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1092442). Kyrie - by Francesco Durante; Bassoon Quartet – Intermediate – Digital Download. “Kyrieâ€, originally written for a four-part vocal ensemble by Francesco Durante, has now been transcribed, edited and arranged by Regis Bookshar, for a Bassoon Quartet. It would be a welcomed addition to any music library. This short composition, which lasts less than two minutes, will provide many students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long phrases, and to help them to continue to develop good intonation because many of the phrases cadence on a unison note. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services. It is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (7 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble’s extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quartet version of this composition for many church services, especially funerals, when we were asked to supply something more somber and introspective rather than the louder, more festive music which many people come to expect from a Trumpet Ensemble. Francesco Durante was an Italian composer who was born on March 31, 1684 at Frattamaggiore, in the Kingdom of Naples. At an early age he entered the Conservatorio dei poveri di Gesu Cristo, in Naples, where he received lessons from Gaetano Greco. Later he became a pupil of Alessandro Scarlatti at the Conservatorio di Sant’Onofrio. He is said to have succeeded Scarlatti in 1725 at Sant’Onofrio and to have remained there until 1742, when he succeeded Nicola Porpora as head of the Conservatorio di Santa Maria de Loreto, also in Naples. He held this post for thirteen years, until his death on September 30, 1755. His fame as a teacher was considerable, and, unlike his Neapolitan contemporaries, who attracted international notice with their operas, Francesco Durante achieved recognition through his church music, along with some vocal chamber and instrumental works. His concern was not quantity. A complete collection of Durante’s works, consisting almost exclusively of sacred music, was presented by Gaspare Selveggi, a Neapolitan art collector and music theorist, to the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. The imperial library of Vienna also preserves a valuable collection of Durante’s manuscripts. The fact that Durante never composed for the stage brought him an exaggerated reputation as a composer of sacred music. He was considered one of the best church composers of his style and period. In his masses, requiems, litanies and Lamentations, he could provide strong expressive moments, as he does in this “Kyrieâ€. In addition to this arrangement for a Bassoon Quartet, Regis Bookshar has also made other arrangements of this selection. There are Quartets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I’m certain that this beautiful arrangement of Francesco Durante’s “Kyrie†will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

ALL PURCHASES COME WITH SCORE AND PARTSWhen I was a young child and I would ask my mother for something she would often, in the midst of all her busy jobs, say to me, “Oh, give me a minuet!â€, meaning jokingly a minute, of course, before she could tend to my wishes.  This meant that I grew up believing that a minuet and a minute meant the same thing and could be equally interchanged. You can then imagine my amazement and amusement at around 13/14 years of age when I discovered through my music studies that a minuet was in fact a type of musical form and dance! Therefore, it went without saying that at some point in my music writing life I just HAD to write my Mum a minuet! So, here is the minuet she so often unwittingly asked me for throughout our lives! She attended the premiere of the Flute, violin and piano arrangement in Bolton, UK, and was highly amused (and not a little chuffed) by the story behind the piece!Naturally, the piece is dedicated to my mother, Margaret (Pearl) Denny, and was finally written in June 2015 for Gary Woolf and the Banda Di Musica in Germany. Its duration is about 7/8 minutes long and it is intended for junior strings. Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.925422 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Harry Watters. 20th Century. Score and parts. 14 pages. Harry Watters Music #4884131. Published by Harry Watters Music (A0.925422). This was conceived as a trombone/low brass section feature to be programmed as part of a school band concert. The trombones can walk out in front of the concert band to perform, while your other band members rest their chops...it breaks things up nicely. This can also be done as a quartet, without the solo part. I encourage you to feature soloist(s) however, when possible. You can assign more than one to a part on everything except the improvised jazz solo segments with chord changes. The written out jazz solo can have more than one player, provided that you have balance throughout your section. If portions of the upper melody go too high for your trombonists, feel free to adjust and drop the octaves when needed.Everyone should adopt a fluid, relaxed approach throughout...make it sound easy :)Finally, I wish to thank Mr. Paul Murtha for his encouragement, insights and wise counsel and Mr. Nathan Pereda for his fine engraving skills. With best wishes,~Harry WattersHarryFrankWatters@gmail.com571-251-9041

Piano,Voice Duet Piano,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.898494 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary. 30 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #504802. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.898494). Full score. I am a frequent visitor to the Protestant Cemetery in Testaccio, Rome. Shelley, Keats and Corso are buried there among other expatriates who adopted the city of Rome as their own. I am a not a huge fan of the music by Ottorino Respighi, whose work, like the Pines of Rome, reminds too much of Hollywood music scores. But I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered on YouTube a chamber work he wrote for mezzo-soprano and string quartet called “Il Tramonto.†The vocal and string writing are exquisite, quite beautiful and heart-felt. When I looked at the source of the text I saw that it was an Italian translation by Roberto Ascoli of a poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley. That immediately inspired me to do my own musical setting of this poem. Two reasons. One, it has a Rome connection. Two, two of my favorite subjects in music are all there in one poem: love and death. Unfortunately I did not find the original English version to be sufficiently “musical.†The archaic language was a bit leaden and convoluted. On the other hand, the Italian translation is so much more lyrical and transcendental. I divided the poem into five parts. At the end I decided to tag on a text I have wanted to set for quite some time: Media Vita. I think the subject of this Latin text fits beautifully as a coda or “apotheosis†to Il Tramonto. I. Moderato … Già v’ebbe un uomo II. Andante … Ora è sommerso il sole III. Adagio … Il given e la dama giacquer tra il sonno IV. Moderato … Neri gli occhi ma non fulgidi più V. Adagio … Ho tal retaggio che la terra non dà VI. Apotheosis: Largo … Media Vita Enjoy!!!

TheComposerStudio.Com, LLC #3517735. Published by TheComposerStudio.Com, LLC (A0.980582). Spiritual Adaptation to Higher Altitudes (2018) (score & parts) is a beautiful work. Bursts of excitement and moments of dialogue punctuate the long, seamless phrases, inviting the musicians to explore the remarkably rich palette of colors created by this pairing. William Neil has created a truly unique, much-needed addition to the clarinet and percussion repertoire!- Dr. Corey MackeyProgram NotesI was introduced to rock climbing by chance years ago, allured by the solo adventure of the climb, the management of ropes and the feel of the rock under my feet and fingers. Then, there was the fear of heights that could take your breath away when you were exposed to the vast openness below you and the feeling that you were really not supposed to be this high off the ground. And when the wind blows and you watch an eagle or hawk drift by, perfectly comfortable souring at these heights, you realize the importance of mind control in making your ascent. Over the years, I have gained more mental discipline while climbing and my spirit has been strengthened by the visual experience of these broad and deep horizons.   The poet Diana Syder said it well in her poem The Mountaineer: From this height it’s safe to scan the earth for bigger things. The climbs of life are its meaning. WN   Information on the composer:  www.williamneil.net   Audio Sample:  Corey Mackey, Clarinet, Keith Lienert, Vibraphone

Outété, performed by Keen'V, was the runner-up song for the 2023 Manie Musicale song competition. This high energy piece has been arranged for concert band where each Part 1 is levelled near grade 1.5, Part 2 near grade .75. When Part 2 has a more complicated part, support is given with Part 1. For levelled percussion, the Drums part has been extracted to Snare Drum and Bass Drum parts.Ensembles can play Part 1 by itself, or just Part 2, but there are impressive rhythmic complications when both parts are played together. This piece can be played as a side-by-side for 2 different levelled bands (e.x., Junior/Senior Bands) or in class to allow students to work within their own abilities. Lastly, this piece can be played as the backing track for a vocalist to sing along with.It is encouraged to play Outété alongside the song to help with student engagement, rhythmic accuracy, and tuning as it is in the same key of Bb Concert.Audio for Outété found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8CTuHNh3zUMeasure 36 in the Drums part, the cymbal should be rolled into the repeat and measure 37.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.774723 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Sandra Milliken. Folk,World. Octavo. 13 pages. Sandra Milliken #3863765. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774723). Brisbane Ladies, sometimes known as Augathella Station, is an Australian folk song based on an English naval song titled Spanish Ladies. The song probably dates from the time of the War of the First Coalition (1793-96) when the Royal Navy carried supplies to Spain in support of that country’s resistance to revolutionary France. It then probably gained further popularity during the later Peninsular War when British soldiers were transported to Spain to assist rebels fighting against the French occupation by the forces of Napoleon.Spanish Ladies is a tale of British naval personnel sailing north from Spain and along the English Channel to their home port. Due to its popularity, several variants of Spanish Ladies later appeared in various parts of the world. American whalers sang a version called Yankee Whalermen. In Newfoundland it appeared as We’ll Rant and We’ll Roar. Special lyrics were written to the tune for the Bluenose, a famous Canadian sailing ship plying out of Nova Scotia. In Australia, around 1880, another set of lyrics appeared, written by Saul Mendelsohn who was a storekeeper in the small Queensland town of Nanango. Brisbane Ladies tells about the drovers who bring the herds of cattle overland from western Queensland to the markets in Brisbane. There the drovers spend most of their money and time with the ladies before setting out for home in search of the next herd of cattle for market. The places mentioned in Brisbane Ladies are mostly small towns along the stock route that stretched some 750 kilometres north-west of Brisbane towards the small town of Augathella, on the banks of the Warrego River. Augathella, at that time, marked the convergence of three major bullock tracks from Morven, Tambo and Charleville.
