Interspersed were my original orchestral interludes, what I intended to be a combination of beautiful, dramatic, and playful, with hints of recognizable Christmas tunes woven into the background. Festive Expressions was the resulting composition, which can be performed with or without Suzuki Soloists. It was premiered by Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra on December 7, 2013 with Tyler Goodrich White conducting over 100 Suzuki Soloists on stage.The Wind Ensemble arrangement, Satana Autumn, was created for Fred J. Allen and the Stephen F. Austin State University Wind Ensemble; it was intended as a gift in response to a wonderful piece he wrote for me when I was a public school teacher.

She encountered a restroom attendant named Onetta Johnson (whose name is mentioned in the song) whom she found sound asleep - despite a blaring TV - exhausted from working long hours.Summer related the story in an interview: I looked at her and my heart just filled up with compassion for this lady, and I thought to myself: God, she works hard for the money, cooped up in this stinky little room all night. This piece has two parts, first a slow section which introduces the tonal language used throughout, followed by a fast and angular section. The ideas are based on a scale with a period of two octaves, so when playing through this scale you will not land again on the main tonic note until after two octaves. This creates some unique difficulties but the ear does grow accustomed to it after the start. It also creates larger whole tone sections throughout. Part way through the fast section it flows into a more traditional tonality form a bit, and then again toward the end. As an unaccompanied piece it has room for interpretation!

This was recorded on Brad's third album, In a Very Unusual Manner.  The main theme is based on two minor chords a tritone apart.  It then accelerates in tempo into an octatonic excitement with constant time signature changes that jar the listener.  Then the main theme comes back, this time in Tremolo.  It ends with the same solo theme it begins with.  The piece is inspired by works of Erik Satie, Invocation and Dance by Joaquin Rodrigo, and the Usher Waltz by Nikita Koshkin.

It remained an imperfect sketch in need of extensive revisions, and languished for a quarter-century in a manila file folder until I rediscovered it late in 2001 and was pleased to find that it was worth the trouble of resurrecting. This was no easy task, as it was my original intention to comply closely with eighteenth-century contrapuntal practices. Although I had written numerous polyphonic pieces in a similar style since 1976, none of these was a fugue. There was also the challenge of reconnecting with musical ideas I had originated at the age of twenty-four at a time in my life when I was rapidly approaching the age of fifty. Still, I persevered in my efforts to revive and improve this early polyphonic essay, and hope the performer and listener will be as pleased with the results as I am. This three-voice fugue can be performed by any instrument or combination of instruments, including the harpsichord.

Primary IV Class. I wanted to see what would happen if she had to do a left hand accompaniment with less (than usual) blocked or broken chords. To compromise, I gave it a lullaby feel, which worked amazingly well in a recital setting! The main theme recap was especially difficult for her, but she persevered and got it down. Playing this music conjures images of people in bikinis dancing rhythmically on the beaches of Macedonia, surrounded by enthusiastic beach-loving tourists. The bustling crowd adds vibrant color to the hot summer beach.The entire piece is written in E-flat major and is also divided into two short sections in an AA format. During practice, there is a breathe and relax moment one measure before transitioning to the second section. It is important to play with a sense of relaxation at that point, followed by an augmented chord leading into the next section.

Also, most noteworthy are the St. John Passion, and indeed the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he therefore, gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created a fascinating new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival               Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.  Voyager NASA launched two Voyager spacecraft in 1977. Onboard are phonograph records with sounds, music, and images of life on Earth. The purpose of the launch was to inform intelligent extraterrestrial life forms about conditions on Earth. The music on the disc is varied. There is Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Stravinsky among others. However, because Bach is so important in our music history, it contains three times more Bach than all the others combined.
