By Bart Howard. Arranged by Richard Jones. Jazz,Standards. Brass Band. 28 pages. Richard Jones #1065680. Published by Richard Jones (A0.1488827). Not many pieces about space can also be said to have been played in space, but 'Fly Me to the Moon' can claim to be one of those. Originally entitled 'In Other Words', the song was written by Bart Howard in 1954 and dedicated to his partner of 58 years Thomas Fowler. Howard, a career musician and notable piano accompanist had collaborated with many other artists, including Cole Porter, but sadly had never gained individual acclaim. A publisher once suggested that his songs were too complex and when Howard was encouraged to write a simpler tune he produced Fly Me to the Moon in 20 minutes; and the rest is history.Notable artists have covered the song, including Tony Bennett, Peggy Lee, Paul Anka, Nancy Wilson, the pop band Westlife and transcribed into Urdu by the artist Alamgir. Howard estimated that before 1964 there had been over 100 versions of the song had been recorded. However, it was Frank Sinatra that made it a global success in 1964. With the legendary composer/arranger Quincy Jones and jazz icon Count Basie, Sinatra produced a sensationally swinging version of the song that captured listeners attention, and later NASA, who would use it on Apollo 10 and 11 missions. It was performed by Diana Krall at the 40th Anniversary of the landings and also, in a more somber setting, at the funeral of space legend Neil Armstrong.

Jmsgu3 #3468158. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549220). J. S. Bach BWV 508. Bist du bei mir Bach adapted this aria from a lost Stölzel opera called Diomedes. He changed the original orchestral instrumentation to soprano, strings, and continuo.  He also modified the voice-leading making it sound more like a Bach composition. The work appears as BWV 508 No. 25 in the Anna Magdalena Notebook No. 2.   Source Only a few remnants of the original opera have survived. Historians speculate that Anna Magdalena got the song from the Leipzig Opera after the bankruptcy of 1720. Chances are good, though, that the tune was a favorite of everyone in Leipzig at the time.   Lyrics When thou art near, I go with joyTo death and to my rest.O how joyous would my end be,If your fair hands            Would close my faithful eyes. - Unknown Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and indeed the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy are the St. John Passion, and indeed the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he, therefore, gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created a fascinating new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival                Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.  Voyager NASA launched two Voyager spacecraft in 1977. Jmsgu3 #3412115. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548729). Out of the Depths I Cry to You by Martin Luther. The first verses feature modified counterpoint and harmony proceeding at quarter = 82. The final verse is reharmonized for maximum dramatic effect at a more contemplative tempo such as quarter = 64. Very powerful selection for Lent or Easter. Duration (3 verses) 3:05, 36 ms. Score: 4 pg. parts: 1 pg. Bowings included. Out of the Depths Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir (From deep affliction I cry out to you), is, of course, a hymn composed by Martin Luther. Moreover, Luther also wrote the lyrics which are essentially a paraphrase of Psalm 130. First published in 1524, it is also one of eight songs in the original Lutheran hymnal. It appears likewise in many hymnals and in different translations. The lyrics furthermore stimulated compositions from the Renaissance to the contemporary. Consequently, composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach built an entire chorale cantata on it. Other composers similarly contributed compositions, such as Felix Mendelssohn and Max Reger. Luther Background Martin Luther, (1483 –1546) was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, and moreover, an influential character in the Protestant Reformation. Luther had a momentous impact on church and society due to his contributions to the musical arts. He wanted to disseminate the gospel among mankind and with this intention thought that the best way to do that was through music. Influence It is important to realize that other musicians, and their descendants, were encouraged by Luther’s songs and wrote their own hymns. Luther, to be sure, had a thorough musical education. For example, he knew secular and sacred songs from an early age. He, in particular, played the lute well and sang in the monastery when he was a monk. That is to say, music was an essential part of his life. He in fact first began writing songs in 1523, sometimes writing the melody as well as the lyrics. Luther was certainly able to evaluate the composers of his time. He thought especially highly of Josquin des and Ludwig Senfl. He was also acquainted, with this in mind, with other composers and their works. Legacy The Lutheran musical ethos soon covered all of Germany and later significantly fashioned Protestant musical culture. Heinrich Schütz and Johann Sebastian Bach are the most compelling evidence of this Protestant musical culture. Additionally, as a point often overlooked, the pedal organ, first refined in northern Germany, became universally prevalent. As a matter of fact, Dieterich Buxtehude established a regular evening organ concert series in Lübeck. Another key point is that this concert series, in turn, spread North German Musical ideas worldwide. Luther was especially convinced that music is a beautiful and exclusive offering of the divine.

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1294307 By Roger Whittaker. By Roger Whittaker and Ronald Webster. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Folk,Pop,Singer/Songwriter. Score and Parts. 44 pages. John Ivor Holland #884691. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1294307). The Last Farewell is a song from 1971 by British folk singer Roger Whittaker and Ron Webster. When Whittaker hosted a radio programme at that time, one of his ideas was to invite listeners to send their poems or lyrics to me and I would make songs out of them. We got a million replies, and I did one each week for 26 weeks. Webster, a silversmith from Birmingham, sent Whittaker his poem entitled The Last Farewell, and this became one of the selections to appear on the radio programme. It was recorded, and featured on Whittaker's 1971 album New World in the Morning (A Special Kind of Man in the US and Canada). It is one of the fifty all-time singles to have sold 10 million (or more) physical copies worldwide, peaking at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. It was kept from number 1 by Rod Stewart's Sailing, resulting in an oddity that the top 2 songs in the UK singles chart at the time had a nautical theme. The Last Farewell also went to number 1 in 11 other countries, selling an estimated 11 million copies worldwide, making it Whittaker's best-known song. Created in memory of Roger Whittaker (1936-2023).

Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGB1040. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGB1040). UPC: 749193026793.From Joshua 1:9: …Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Resilience is a musical painting of the journey of life, and of a resilient soul. We hear the serenity of sure comfort at the beginning, and then a melody appears--it emanates peacefulness, but also challenge. Major seventh and minor seventh chords are used back-to-back to portray the juxtaposition of light and darkness. When the minor chords take over and the melody begins to fall, a contemplative, tearful section begins, only to be interrupted by a confident rhythm. The 11/8 time signature conveys unsteadiness, but as it continues and grows, it becomes steady and powerful. Finally, the main theme returns in exuberance--the true form of a resilient spirit. As the music comes to a close, the final chord is a major seventh, not minor--good has triumphed over evil--and the notes float up heavenward to the final resting place--it is finished; having persevered, the soul has earned its peaceful rest.

Romanian Folk Dances  Sz. 56, BB 68 is a suite of six short piano pieces composed by Béla Bartók in 1915. He later orchestrated it for small ensemble in 1917 as Sz. 68, BB 76.It is based on seven Romanian tunes from Transylvania, originally played on fiddle or shepherd's flute. The original name for the piece was titled Romanian Folk Dances from Hungary but was later changed by Bartók when Transylvania became part of Romania in 1920. It is nowadays available in the 1971 edition which is written with key signatures although Bartók rarely ever used key signatures. This set of dances consists of six movements and, according to the composer, it should take four minutes and three seconds to perform, but most professional pianists take up to five minutes. The list of the movements is as follows (with the original Hungarian title listed first, the most commonly known Romanian title second, and the English translation in parentheses):

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.926664 Composed by Michael A. Morizio. A Cappella,Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 8 pages. M.A. Morizio #3588427. Published by M.A. Morizio (A0.926664). The Apostle John’s visions in Revelation are nothing less than astounding to all readers. However, little is it known that another Hymn to Christ is neatly tucked into the very first seven verses of this last book of the Bible. John begins his Revelation (verses 1-3) with a prelude, introducing Jesus Christ and the apocalypse (revelation) that was made to him via the angel sent to describe all the things about which he was to write. He says, Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and keep what is written in it, for the time is near. After this short prelude, John delivers an epistolary opening (a greeting identifying the author and recipients), then pronounces a blessing upon the recipients-verses 4-6. After both the prelude and the opening, John immediately proceeds to another known Hymn to Christ, in verse 7, which I have called, Behold He Is Coming.  When presented with the text in Revelation 1:7, I immediately thought, Where is the Gospel, the good news, in this piece? After several minutes of meditating on the text, I realized the Gospel message was right there in front of me-in the very last line: Yes, so be it [Lord], so be it, [Amen!] There will be peace! All will be known. Every single person will understand, at that point. The end, is the ushering in of a new beginning. The piece is scored in G minor for SATB with flute and Bâ™ clarinet accompaniment. In the opening phrase, we hear the clarinet on a sustained high (concert) G, which crescendos into a quick, descending sixteenth note pattern. There is urgency! The flute joins the clarinet in a duet to complete the introduction to the anthem. Then, the choir begins their haunting chant, Behold, He is coming with the clouds. Every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him. Every eye will see Him and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him . Alas, there is peace! The two instruments dissolve into an a cappella four-part chorale where the choir creates the agreement between the text and the music, modulating to the relative major (Bâ™)-all is reconciled in a final Amen!

This is the second of eight waltzes I composed between September 2020 and April 2024. This was the second waltz I wrote, and the second during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a gentle piece with a sense of a dream-like dance. The form is A-B-A'-A-Coda. It starts off in D and centers around the key of D, until the end, when the Coda transports the listener to an ending in G. Think of it like the dancers in the dream disappearing from sight.Regarding articulation: I use tenuto and accent + tenuto marks frequently in my compositions. I tend to use them mostly as indications for the melody and/or notes that should be emphasized or brought out. I never intend the accent + tenuto to be harsh, but it should be stronger than the tenuto alone.I intend to have a collection of all eight waltzes available for sale in addition to individual pieces. The available recording on Arrange Me and Sheet Music Plus is an export from Finale – not a live performance. Note, Finale did not keep the tempo consistent throughout. Do not slow down in the B section staring in mm. 13.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!Gerald Gabbard.

It is played when Elsa and Lohengrin enter the bridal chamber to consummate their marriage.
