Baritone Saxophone,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549729 Composed by Gabriel Faure. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Contemporary,Multicultural,Romantic Period,Standards,World. Score and part. 22 pages. Jmsgu3 #3531407. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549729). Duration: ca. 7:00, Score: 12 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano: 7 pages. An epic choice for a recital or funeral. Fauré Background: In the first place, Gabriel Fauré 1845 –1924) was a famous French composer, musician, and educator. Furthermore, his musical ideas influenced numerous 20th-century composers. Therefore, historians regard him as one of the leading French composers of his time. Famous Works: Among his most famous compositions, by and large, are the Pavane, Elegie (op. 24), Requiem, Sicilienne, Nocturnes for piano and the songs Après un rêve and Clair de lune. Inasmuch as his early works are well-known and relatively easy to perform, Faure’s music seems to have become gradually more difficult during his later life. In other words, his later works are somewhat esoteric and complex. Early Home Life: Fauré was in fact born into a well-cultivated family. His aptitude for music became particularly clear early on - when he was still a boy. Under these circumstances, his parents sent him to a music institution in Paris. Consequently, the training he received there prepared him for a career as a church organist and choirmaster. Middle Life: It is important to realize that Fauré studied music composition with the French musical mastermind Camille Saint-Saëns, who became his lifelong friend. Fauré eventually graduated from college and earned a living as an organist and educator. During this period, he had, on the whole, little time to compose. He consequently became more successful in his middle age, becoming organist of the Église de la Madeleine and director of the Paris Conservatoire. However, he still needed time on balance for composing. Therefore, given these points, he withdrew to the countryside during the summer to focus on composing. Later Life: Fauré was, in the final analysis, recognized in France as the foremost French composer of his time. The French government held a national musical tribute particularly for him in Paris. The French President notably headed the ceremony. Elsewhere, on the contrary, Fauré's music was slow to become accepted, except of course, in England. As an illustration, when Fauré was born, Chopin was still composing. However, by the time of Fauré's death, jazz and atonal music, in particular, had come to fruition. Fauré, by all means, suffered from increasing deafness in his later years. Some musicologists believe this to be indeed the cause of the esoteric nature of Faure’s final works.

1 Piano,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Digital Download SKU: A0.977046 Composed by Paul SanGregory. Contemporary. Score. 36 pages. Distant Engraver Music #4801728. Published by Distant Engraver Music (A0.977046). This set of six variations is based on a theme made only of chords. The theme is quiet and simple, yet as the variations begin adding rhythms, melodies and textures, various musical styles, characters and dramatic expressions appear. When certain variations take on characteristics of jazz or salsa, audience members might even forget that they are still hearing the same basic chord structure. This piece is written so that almost any number of players can take turns performing it on either one, or two pianos. When fewer players perform the piece, one pianist can play two or three of the easier parts simultaneously. The minimum number of performers needed is four, but to facilitate the playing of cross rhythms, some groups may prefer 5 or 6 players in some variations. The music is written on 5 separate staves with suggestions of where and how to rotate players in and out of the performance, but performers should feel free to divide the parts between themselves in any way that works for them.   Videos of two different performances can be seen at the following links:http://paulsg.net/Videos/MHVariations.movhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4jbIXK1LiQ&feature=youtu.be

Handbell,Instrumental Duet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1046790 Composed by Scottish Folk Song. Arranged by Mark R Lewis. Celtic,Folk,Irish,Traditional,Wedding. 4 pages. Mark R Lewis #651303. Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1046790). The Water Is Wide is a Scottish folk song that is also known as O Waly, Waly. The tune has remained very popular well into modern times with many folk singers performing it regularly. The tune was adapted in the 1970s by Hal Hopson when he adapted the text of 1 Corinthians 13 to write the hymn The Gift of Love. This arrangement by Mark R Lewis is for 8-Bell Duet. If played as a quartet, this arrangement will not be difficult at all but possible challenges arise when both players are using 4-in-hand techniques. Even as a 4-in-hand duet, this is not a difficult arrangement. Range: C6 - C7 (also available G5 - G6).

Clarinet quartet - Digital Download SKU: IZ.IMF1710 Composed by Franz Schubert. Arranged by Rebecca Mindock. Score and Parts. 26 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #IMF1710. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.IMF1710). 9 x 12 in inches.Nineteenth-Century Austrian composer Franz Schubert (1797-1828) is renowned as one of the great masters of German Lieder, having composed over 600 works in the genre. He wrote his setting of Gretchen am Spinnrade (Gretchen at the Spinning Wheel), derived from Goethe's Faust, when he was 17 years old. Originally for voice and piano, Gretchen provides a first-person account of the feelings of its titular character as she works at her spinning wheel while reflecting on her conflicted emotions regarding Faust. The constant motion in the accompaniment part, echoing the tireless spinning of the wheel and the regular fall of her foot on the pedal, churns over a swiftly changing series of harmonies, representing both how swept away she is by her feelings for Faust but also her pain of not being able to be with him. The wheel's only pause comes when Gretchen reflects on Faust's kiss; it is the only moment in the song where she completely forgets her task at hand, so wrapped up is she in her tumultuous thoughts. As the musical patterns of the spinning wheel slowly but insistently return, Gretchen's composure is regained, and she returns to her task. This transcription for four clarinets employs a fluid exchange of the spinning wheel pattern across all four parts, and Gretchen's lyrical melody is also passed throughout the ensemble, allowing each player to have moments of both technical challenge and lyrical expressiveness.

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.742989 Composed by Ian Deterling. Contemporary. Score and parts. 119 pages. Ian Deterling #5359795. Published by Ian Deterling (A0.742989). A triumphant fanfare for bands with a strong brass section! When I spoke with Ian about writing another piece for us, I suggested a fanfare - an easy idea when you have 26 players in the brass section. After receiving an electronic version of the piece, I realized it loosely followed the musical form known as a rondo. The opening fanfare returns four times in the piece, while the primary melody returns three times after its initial statement. Each return is different than the original statement. A third, darker theme in the lower voices, is played twice in the piece, which offers a nice contrast to the opening fanfare and primary theme. Thus, Fanfare and Rondo seemed like an apt title for the work. - Mr. Michael Hintzman The Northwestern High School Band would like to thank the Oulu Community Theater for their financial support in the commissioning of Fanfare and Rondo. Fanfare and Rondo was premiered by the Northwestern High School Concert Band on March 9th, 2020 in the Patricia Loustari Theatre (Northwestern High School - Maple, WI)

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1284043 By Jeff Bjorck. By Jeff Bjorck. Arranged by Jeff Bjorck. 21st Century,Children,Contemporary,New Age. Score. 2 pages. Pure Piano Music by Jeff Bjorck #875215. Published by Pure Piano Music by Jeff Bjorck (A0.1284043). This original solo piano composition by Jeff Bjorck appears on his album/CD, Keepsakes in the Attic. Bjorck notes that, when he created this piece, he visualized an antique music box which--when played--would evoke nostalgic memories of a loving Grandmother playing the box for her grandchildren. The melody is reminiscent of old music box tunes, and it fades slowly as the piece ends, suggesting that the listener leaves the lid open so the echoes and memories can continue on in the listener’s heart.

Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Instructional,Romantic Period. 12 pages. Keith Terrett #1026182. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1446374). Alt-Wiener Tanzweisen (Old Viennese Melodies in German) is a set of three short pieces for violin and piano composed by Austrian-American violinist Fritz Kreisler. The three pieces are titled Liebesfreud (Love's Joy), Liebesleid (Love's Sorrow), and Schön Rosmarin (Lovely Rosemary). It is not known when the pieces are written, but they were published in 1905, deliberately misattributed to Joseph Lanner.[citation needed] The pieces had become parts of Kreisler's repertoire well before September 1910, when he copyrighted them under his own name.Kreisler often played these pieces as encores at his concerts, though the pieces are usually performed separately. In 1911, he published solo piano arrangements of the pieces as Alt-Wiener Tanzweisen. The pieces have since appeared in numerous settings for other instruments, or orchestrated. Two of the pieces, Liebesfreud and Liebesleid, were the subject of virtuoso transcriptions for solo piano by Kreisler's friend Sergei Rachmaninoff (1931), who also recorded these transcriptions.

Published by Gabriel Ruiz-Bernal (A0.893973). Commissioned by Colleen Daly for the St. Louis Concert seriesText by Rabindranath TagoreWhere have I come from, where did you pick me up? the baby asked its mother. She answered, half crying, half laughing, and clasping the baby to her breast-You were hidden in my heart as its desire, my darling. You were in the dolls of my childhood's games; and when with clay I made the image of my god every morning, I made the unmade you then. You were enshrined with our household deity, in his worship I worshipped you.In all my hopes and my loves, in my life, in the life of my mother you have lived. In the lap of the deathless Spirit who rules our home you have been nursed for ages. When in girlhood my heart was opening its petals, you hovered as a fragrance about it.Your tender softness bloomed in my youthful limbs, like a glow in the sky before the sunrise.Heaven's first darling, twain-born with the morning light, you have floated down the stream of the world's life, and at last you have stranded on my heart. As I gaze on your face, mystery overwhelms me; you who belong to all have become mine. For fear of losing you I hold you tight to my breast. What magic has snared the world's treasure in these slender arms of mine?
