She visited Vilnius and played the organ at Vinius University St John's church last year.Although this Gradual is written in the 7th mode, to make it more colorful, I often changed and transposed the mode throughout the piece.It's a free paraphrase of Gregorian chant. Tamino is able to overcome them one by one, but Papageno struggles because he lacks the mental strength to do so. When Papageno tells Sprecher that he would be happy with just some wine, Sprecher asks if he has any other wishes. Papageno says he didn't have any before, but then he thinks of something else he wants and starts singing a song about it. The song says that it feels good to eat and drink delicious things, but Papageno is lonely and wants a cute girl or a wife. Papageno plays a musical instrument called a Glockenspiel while singing. This instrument is different from the modern Glockenspiel and is a keyboard instrument that strikes metal plates. In this arrangement, all the parts take turns playing the melody so that all the performers can enjoy it.

Thepiece was conceived as a tribute to the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.The work contains only two specific “programmatically inspiredâ€� images related toPittsburgh. They form the outer two sections of the work. The inner four sections areinspired more abstractly by various aspects of the city, its landscapes, and its people; theyfeature a series of solos and duets for many members of the orchestra – in the manner of a“concerto for orchestra.â€�The opening of the work is inspired by Pittsburgh’s history as America’s steel capital.Colors and sounds of the clangorous industrial age of America’s past are evoked. When I played it at my church, I told my guitar player to channel his inner Jimmy Hendrix on the instrumental part. I am listing this in 2 ways--1 as a piano solo and 1 as a vocal so you can purchase it that way if you need multiple parts for singers.

Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel)     This absolutely gorgeous song was written by Billy Joel in response, I believe, to his young daughter asking him what happens when people die and, as he didn’t believe in the afterlife, he was trying to avoid answering her.   I was asked to arrange this as a duet with a cello and a ‘smattering of (SSA) choir.’  As I was listening to recordings of this song, a second voice emerged for me, possibly someone who has passed on, calmly lulling the child to sleep whilst her father is trying to distract her from her questions. This was indeed the interpretation felt by people I played it to who found it very moving.     I hope you enjoy it.   Included in this pack are a full score, vocal score and cello part with what I hope are useful cues for you to navigate your way around the piece.   Other formats will be available shortly with more choir involvement and for those without access to a cello.

In its Spanish title this song is (almost) guaranteed to make the sun shine - it means when the sun heats up! It's a popular Spanish song with music by Nicaraguan songwriter and bandleader Rafael Gaston Perez, with lyrics by Carlos and Mario Rigual and an English version (not a translation) by Sunny Skylar. Los Hermanos Rigaul recorded the song and it become a number 1 hit in Italy for 4 weeks.The 12/8 time signature gives the song a lilting quality and the repeated notes drive home the passion of the lyrics. In this arrangement, the Spanish words can be sung on the repeated or used throughout the song, and there are some extra harmony notes in the 3rd voice in the final verse to give the sound more weight.

It was first published as a carol in France in 1553. The words were written by Emile Blémont, based on a much earlier folk text: it tells the story of two milkmaids, Jeannette and Isabelle, who go to milk their cows in a cowshed near Bethlehem. When they get there, they find Jesus asleep in the hay ... and you know the rest of the story. To this day, children in the Provence region dress up as shepherds and milkmaids, and carry torches to Midnight Mass while singing the carol. Here, I've put verse 1 in French with (underneath) a translation crib, and verse 2 and 3 in English. Contact me if you want all the verses in French!

This Baroque piece was originally written by Jean Loeillet as part of a Harpsichord Suite.  It is written in the Italian Corant style in the characteristic Fast(Allegro) 3/4. with rapid running passages of eighth notes (quavers) which alternate scalar steps with large leaps.  Traditionally the piece would have been performed very cleanly, not legato.My arrangement takes the melody and passes it between the three instrument parts.  I wrote a highly ornamented continuo for each part when not playing melody.  In true Baroque style I have created a tight interplay between parts.  Each part also has a rather wide range.  (6 pages score, 2 pages @ part)Although in a Minor Key, this piece is very bright and uplifting.  It is very accessible and thus a concert crowd pleaser.  Great for student recitals too to learn and show mastery of Baroque techniques of clean ensemble playing and ornamentation.  Most of all, this piece is just Pure Fun!

As a gentle piece, it would work particularly well paired with Holly's Lullaby, another of my classical guitar compositions. Didi – Didi was a very unique and special friend for many years. She gave out great spiritual strength and insight into this very confusing world in which we all live. She was a real tower of quiet, gentle strength.Movement 2. Brew! – This movement was inspired directly by the Brewing Industry. It strives to depict the hustle and bustle of a busy, working brewery and the the many hilarious, fabulous people I met during my three years in the beer-making industry.Movement 3 – Convent Cherub – This little piece began life as the opening title music of a film score I worked on while at college. The film itself, entitled My Brother Rob, was made by Alison Hilder, a student director at the Harrow School of Film. The story told of a young boy traumatised by a convent boarding school up-bringing. I have felt for many years that this little main theme has needed an alternative home, as much film music is never played again.Movement 4 – Megan – This movement comes directly from my wonderful and beautiful daughter, who was 5 years old at the time of the writing of this piece. It seeks to express her wild vibrance, eternal cheekiness, infinite energy, sparkle and the utter fearlessness of youth.Movement 5 – Edward – This music is for my gorgeous little son, who has Down’s Syndrome, and was only 3 at the time of the writing of this piece. The opening came to me moments after the doctor had confirmed Edward had Down’s, when he was only 6 hours old. The music tries to convey the fear of the unknown, huge unconditional love and moments of uncertainty alternated by washes of strength. And yet, all through the fear the resolve to forever love and stay strong always wins.Movement 6 – Indifference – The opening 4 notes are the core of this movement, and the piece is built around and from them. This music is an observation of deep, rumbling frustration at the indifference growing in our fast moving, modern society.Movement 7 – “Wee Us� – This movement expresses family triumph, the gifts of life and love, and the glory of boundless, wild, youthful energy. This tune has not yet run its course. It will be back!

Although the piece is secular, the use of the symbol of the dove would work well in religious services.The piece involves a two against three rhythm which suggests the difficulties the dove faces flying for peace against the overwhelming odds of war. The .mp3 file is computer generated with choral oohs for the voices.
