Horn Quintet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1253252 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Chamber,Christian,Easter,Historic. 27 pages. Regis Bookshar #847012. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1253252). Three selections based on Christ lag in Todesbanden (Christ lay in death's bonds) (from Cantata No.   4, BMV   4) - Johann Sebastian Bach - French Horn Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download.Cantata No.   4, BMV   4, Christ lag in Todesbanden (also spelled Todes Banden) (Christ lay in death's bonds) is a cantata for Easter written by Johann Sebastian Bach and is his earliest surviving Church Cantata. It was probably written in 1707 when he was 22 years old. It is a Chorale Cantata, a style in which both the text and music are based on a hymn. In this instance, the source was Martin Luther's hymn of the same name which became a main Easter hymn in German Lutheranism.Regis Bookshar has transcribed and arranged three selections based on this hymn tune, two from Bach's Cantata No.   4, BMV   4, and also his Chorale Prelude, BMV 625. They may be played individually or as a trilogy and each movement gets more complex than the previous one. The first selection in this triology is the Chorale, Christ lag in Todesbanden, the final chorus from his Cantata No.   4, a straightforward four-part chorale setting of the hymn (Regis has also added a fifth part). This is followed by Bach's Chorale Prelude, BMV 625, a piece from his Orgelbuchlein (Little Organ Book), a collection of 46 Preludes for organ, written almost exclusively during the 1708-1717 period, while Bach was court organist at Weimar. For the final selection, Regis has placed the polyphonic and imitative chorus, Es war ein wunderlicher Krieg, da Tod und Leben rungen (It was a strange battle, that death and life waged), which Bach had placed in the middle of his Cantata No.   4.This arrangement is for a French Horn Quintet. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (27 pages).I hope you will enjoy playing these selections and please search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. There are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. I thisk you will be pleased with what you may find.

Published by Teton Music (A0.1305028). Lucious harmonies make this familiar, 15th century Christmas carol fresh again. The piece begins with percussive 'dings' and 'dongs' as they mimic the ringing of church bells. The remainder of the piece splits into four part women's harmony with flowing, moving lines in each vocal part. Excellent selection for church, school or professional ensembles. May be sung in English or French. English TextBring a torch, Jeanette, Isabella!Bring a torch, to Bethlehem come!Christ is born. Tell the folk of the villageMary has laid him in a manger.Ah! String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1014185 Composed by Paul Emil Levasseur. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk. Score and parts. 46 pages. Paul Emil Levasseur #1987525. Published by Paul Emil Levasseur (A0.1014185). 'Journey' is a c.a. 12 minute work for String Quartet. The piece begins with an adagio melody which weaves into elegant counterpoint. The adagio opening is juxtaposed by a scherzo with a folk style melody and bouncing, changing rhythms. The two musical ideas collide and combine in the conclusion of the work! I began this piece in the beginning of my D.M.A. in composition when studying with Christos Hatzis. The material for this project has steeped in my mind for 5 years with over 100 drafts and rewrites to date. It really represents a period of struggle in my development as an artist. During this time I was trying to reconcile the struggle between my knowledge of composition and theory with my muse. The difference between putting notes together and creating art is an interesting one and this was something I had to come to terms with. After my 2nd year of study, I put this project on the shelf and carried on with other pieces. I didn't pull it out again until last Dec where there was a short pause in my workload with freelancing. I kept the material I wanted and just 'listened' to where the music wanted to go. Somehow the pieces came together and it worked to create a cohesive whole with a strong musical narrative. I'm very pleased with the result. The piece has not been performed yet but I have included a midi mockup to aide with score reading the piece.

Concert Band - Digital Download SKU: A0.495192 Composed by Moises Mendoza. Contemporary. Score and parts. 67 pages. Published by Moises Mendoza (A0.495192). I composed this piece because I wanted to get myself used to composing for large ensembles, wind ensemble particularly. This composition took the most time and energy in creating the biggest work I have taken on thus far. This piece allowed me to get a better insight of my creativity as well as incorporate the lessons I have learned from my music professors. The experience was well worth it for I now know what I am capable of in my compositions and I look forward to working on more works in large ensembles in the future. During the time I composed this piece, I was expecting to have it performed around April 2020. However, that was around the time when COVID started spreading around the world and so that experience was lost to me. I hope someday it will be performed under better days.

Voice, recorder and percussion - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q2433 Minor: Bordun. Composed by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman. Arranged by Arnold Walter and Doreen Hall. This edition: score for voice and/or instruments. Orff-Schulwerk. Downloadable, Vocal and performing score. Op. 4. Schott Music - Digital #Q2433. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q2433). English.Carl Orff devoted much of his life to the development of a philosophy of Music for Children, based on his belief that music is the natural outcome of speech, rhythm and movement. His ideas and pioneering work have had a major influence on music and dance education throughout the world and today that work continues under the guidance of leading teachers and educators in many countries. The five basic German volumes of Music for Children by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman were published between 1950 and 1954. Edition have since been published in Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Ghana, Great Britain (including a special Welsh edition), Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latin-America, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the USA. In 1952 the first edition in translation appeared, an English language adaptation by Doreen Hall and Arnold Walter for their Canadian and American students. A few years later, Margaret Murray independently developed a version (1957-1966), essentially to fulfil the needs of United Kingdom teachers. Inevitably the considerable growth of Orff-Schulwerk in the United States led to the publication of the American Edition (1977) to satisfy the requirements of a different educational system and national heritage. Orff-Schulwerk: Music for Children has proved itself to be a stimulating source of material for music teaching. Carl Orff's fundamental educational ideas have revitalized music education in nursery schools, at all levels of primary and secondary education and in special music schools, based on the concepts that: - music, dance and language are inter-related and animated through rhythm. - when children discover, invent, improvise and compose, their experience of music is intensified. These creative activities are complementary to those of interpreting and listening to music. - all who take part are encouraged to contribute, not only vocally but also instrumentally. - the Orff approach to music education is many sided; it is concerned with practical music-making, it provides fundamental experiences and it lays the foundation for a comprehensive musical training. - movement games and activities for body awareness in space, time and flow, lead to movement improvisation and dance forms. - music and dance have been notated in many different ways in history. Various ways of writing down sounds and music, as well as playing from and interpreting different kinds of sources are being explored. Today, countless teachers and institutions are using these ideas. More and more teachers look for ways of invovling their students in active music making. In particular, they seek to challenge their pupils' creativity by the use of music, dance and speech - as media of human expression - as a foundation of all education. A prerequisite for work in Orff-Schulwerk is the artistic and pedagogical training of teachers. The Orff Institute was founded in 1961 as a Department of the 'Mozarteum', in Salzburg, Austria. Training offered includes a four-year diploma course, a two-year post-graduate course, and a one-year-course in English. At the opening of the Orff Institute in Salzburg in 1963, Carl Orff ended his speech with a quotation from Schiller: 'I have done my part, now do yours.' That challenge has been taken up by teachers worldwide. Hall/Walter Edition Based on Volumes 1, 2 and 4 of the original German Edition musik für Kinder, english adaption with additional material by Doreen Hall and Arnold Walter.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1115466 By Bobby Rydell. By Domenico Modugno, Francesco Migliacci, and Mitchell Parish. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. 20th Century,Contemporary,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. 12 pages. Scott S. Stewart #717244. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.1115466). Nearly everyone can sing along to the chorus of this Italian song “Volare†(“Nel blu dipunto di bluâ€) which means ‘to fly’. “Volare†recounts a man’s dream in which he is flying high above the earth in the blue sky. And then tells of how, when the moon goes down, it takes dreams along with it, and that another dream such as this, will never come along again. This arrangement is scored for a 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment. It uses the original Italian text (and, at times, Mitchell Parish’s English lyrics). The tempo ranges from a simple fox-trot-to-tango-to-beguine-to a driving musical theater beat. Performance time: 3:05+-.

Although it is often associated with the Catholic prayer, Schubert's music is actually an adaptation of a work by Walter Scott, a Scottish poet. Schubert composed the melody as part of his piece Ellens Gesang III (Ellen's Song III), which is a series of songs based on Scott's poems.Ave Maria was composed in 1825 and is one of the most popular and beloved pieces in the classical repertoire. The gentle and melancholic melody, combined with the Latin lyrics invoking the Virgin Mary, evokes a sense of serenity and devotion. While it was originally written for voice and piano, the melody has also been adapted for various instruments and choirs.Interestingly, Schubert was unaware that his melody would become widely known as Ave Maria. The original title of the composition is Ellens Gesang III: Hymne an die Jungfrau (Ellen's Song III: Hymn to the Virgin). The fame of Ave Maria came later when different versions of the melody were published and performed with the Latin lyrics.Due to its beauty and emotional appeal, Schubert's Ave Maria has been performed on numerous occasions, from religious ceremonies to concerts and solemn events. The piece continues to move and inspire listeners around the world, highlighting Franz Schubert's genius as a composer.

Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1500223 Composed by Jeff Davis/king David. Arranged by Jeff Davis. Christian,Contest,Festival,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. 19 pages. Jeff Davis #1076298. Published by Jeff Davis (A0.1500223). Psalm 100 is a popular text to put to music, especially since it was probably sung at one time. David expresses his praise. thankfulness, and what he believed God's relationship was to His people in this powerful anthem. I tried to convey what I thought David wanted when he wrote this praise song. It moves at a very quick pace and is exciting to perform. Incorporating a full choir, brass quintet, and piano Psalm 100 can be a challenge to keep pace with the tempo. The secret is for the choir not to over-sing, emphasize the strong beats (as noted), and sing with a small mouth. Let it flow smoothly in phrases.       Psalm 100 will be a great praise and worship anthem and fits will for special occassions. The brass parts and score are sold as a seperate packet. Enjoy this lively piece!

They may be played individually or as a trilogy and each movement is more complex than the previous one. The first selection in this trilogy is the Chorale, Christ lag in Todesbanden, the final chorus from his Cantata No.   4, a straighforward four-part setting of the hymn (Regis has also added a fifth part). This is followed by Bach's Chorale Prelude, BMV 625, a piece from his Orgelbuchlein (Little Organ Book), a collection of 46 Preludes for organ, written almost exclusively during the 1708-1717 period, while Bach was court organist at Weiman. For the final selection, Regis has placed the polyphonic and imitative chorus, Es war ein wunderlicher Krieg, da Tod und Leben rungen (It was a strange battle, that death and life waged), which Bach had placed in the middle of his Cantata No.   4.This arrangement is for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 2 Bb Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 1 Trombone and 1 Tuba. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (29 pages).I hope you will enjoy playing these selections and please search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. There are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. I think you will be pleased with what you may find.
