Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1197809

Composed by James Black. Arranged by Paul Taylor. Jazz,Traditional. Score. 3 pages. Paul Taylor #796985. Published by Paul Taylor (A0.1197809).

This is a great transposition exercise for the budding jazz pianist. The tune itself is short, but the harmonic language is rich with primary chords, secondary dominants ,  minor 7th chords and  half diminished 7th chords.  Although all twelve keys are not represented, the five keys that appear (C,Db, D, Eb and E) provide enough models for the pianist to go ahead and calculate the seven other keys that are not represented. As Bill Evans, the great jazz pianist demonstrated,  knowing a tune in all keys is a tremendous help for performing and understanding music.

SKU: A0.955566

Composed by Katharine Purvis. Arranged by Glen Dike. Contemporary,Instructional,Jazz,Spiritual,Traditional. Score. 2 pages. Glen Dike #4990999. Published by Glen Dike (A0.955566).

The song has a nice walking bass pattern that conveys a swing feel. It isnt just repetitive in form of ostinato, but adapts very well to the chord changes. Right from the start you are given a professional sounding score that will delight your heart. You will have substantial material to work with. It will inspire you to try out some other tunes with the same swing feel. Good for the classroom, rendition, church service, also in combination with other instruments as well as solo arrangement.
