because Charonte accept my toll

conceal my love and now we are already on journey

This popular standard song recorded by vocalist Nat King Cole in 1951 sold a million records. He considered it one of his favorites and it was number one on the Billboard Charts for many weeks.

I was inspired to create this piano arrangement of TOO YOUNG for my dear friends Evelyn and Carlo who celebrate their wedding anniversary on September 1, 2021. It was their song 65 years ago. 

This intermediate piano solo arrangement is written in the key of C; not the original key, but one that may be easier for some piano students. It is clearly and carefully notated with dynamic marks, phrasing, suggested fingerings, pedal indications, chord identifications and appropriate musical terms for playing.

The left hand sometimes incorporates arpeggiated patterns made up of 9ths while the right hand utilizes traditional chords and intervals with a touch of jazz harmony.

This piano arrangement sounds artistic and impressive, a wonderful selection, ideal for teaching, recitals and enjoyment.

As with my debut album, “Journey - Twelve Romances for Piano�, my interest in the connection of music and colour to paint different moods and styles is explored here in Sky Blue Piano. The colour sky blue is a bright uplifting one, and whilst writing the pieces I felt that using this in the title was the right balance between perhaps a joyous yellow and a sombre grey. The twelve pieces here were all written especially for this album. There are a couple that are based on melodies written some time ago but now, with fresh ears, they have been developed and completed for this second album. I hope you will enjoy playing “Sky Blue Piano�.

Born This Way is a song by American singer Lady Gaga, and the lead single from her second studio album of the same name. Written by Gaga and Jeppe Laursen, who produced it along with Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow, the track was developed while Gaga was on the road with the Monster Ball Tour. Inspired by 1990s music which empowered women, minorities, and the LGBT community, Gaga explained that Born This Way was her freedom song. It was also inspired by Carl Bean and his song I Was Born This Way, released in 1977. She sang part of the chorus at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards and announced it as the lead single from the album, released on February 11, 2011.

The song is backed by rumbling synth sounds, a humming bass and additional chorus percussion, with sole organ toward the end. The lyrics discuss the self-empowerment of the LGBT community and racial minorities. Critics positively reviewed the song, calling it a club-ready anthem. In 2023, Rolling Stone named Born This Way the Most Inspirational LGBT Song of All Time. It reached number one in over 25 countries and was her third single to top the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and the 1,000th song in that chart's history (since 1958) to reach number one. Born This Way has sold 8.2 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time.

Nick Knight directed the accompanying music video, which was inspired by surrealist painters like Salvador Dalí and Francis Bacon. Gaga is depicted as giving birth to a new race during a prologue. After a series of dance sequences, the video concludes with the view of a city populated by this race. Critics noted the video's references to the work of Madonna, Michael Jackson and fashion designer Alexander McQueen, as well as to Greek mythology and surrealism.

Gaga performed the song at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards after coming out of an incubating vessel. Shortly after, she added it to the setlist of the last leg of the Monster Ball Tour. Born This Way was later performed on television shows, such as Saturday Night Live, Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve and Good Morning America, many of the singer's tours, and it was notably part of her Super Bowl LI halftime show set. The song was treated with different remixes, including a Country Road version recorded by Gaga herself and another by Indian production duo Salim–Sulaiman. The Rudolph story begins in 1939, when Montgomery Ward asked Robert May, one of its ad copywriters, to come up with a kids' book for its Christmas shoppers. The result was the now-familiar red-nosed reindeer. (For those born in later generations, Mongomery Ward was a giant, like Sears, in the mail-order retail business. Kind of like Amazon without the Internet.) May's brother-in-law, Johnny Marks, turned it into a song a decade later. Gene Autry recorded it for Christmas in 1949, and it immediately hit No. 1 on the pop music charts. It was still there at the end of the first week of January, making it the first No. 1 hit of the 1950s.
Its sales since then, including countless covers, have surpassed 150 million. Only White Christmas, among holiday songs, has sold more.

Hey Jude is a song by the English rock band the Beatles that was released as a non-album single in August 1968. It was written by Paul McCartney and credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership. The single was the Beatles' first release on their Apple record label and one of the First Four singles by Apple's roster of artists, marking the label's public launch. Hey Jude was a number-one hit in many countries around the world and became the year's top-selling single in the UK, the US, Australia and Canada. Its nine-week run at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 tied the all-time record in 1968 for the longest run at the top of the US charts. It has sold approximately eight million copies and is frequently included on music critics' lists of the greatest songs of all time.

The writing and recording of Hey Jude coincided with a period of upheaval in the Beatles. The ballad evolved from Hey Jules, a song McCartney wrote to comfort John Lennon's son, Julian, after Lennon had left his wife for the Japanese artist Yoko Ono. The lyrics espouse a positive outlook on a sad situation, while also encouraging Jude to pursue his opportunities to find love. After the fourth verse, the song shifts to a coda featuring a Na-na-na na refrain that lasts for over four minutes.

Hey Jude was the first Beatles song to be recorded on eight-track recording equipment. The sessions took place at Trident Studios in central London, midway through the recording of the group's self-titled double album (also known as the White Album), and led to an argument between McCartney and George Harrison over the song's guitar part. Ringo Starr later left the band only to return shortly before they filmed the promotional clip for the single. The clip was directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg and first aired on David Frost's UK television show. Contrasting with the problems afflicting the band, this performance captured the song's theme of optimism and togetherness by featuring the studio audience joining the Beatles as they sang the coda.

At over seven minutes in length, Hey Jude was the longest single to top the British charts up to that time.[1] Its arrangement and extended coda encouraged many imitative works through to the early 1970s. In 2013, Billboard magazine named it the 10th biggest song of all time in terms of chart success.[2] McCartney has continued to perform Hey Jude in concert since Lennon's death in 1980, leading audiences in singing the coda. Julian Lennon and McCartney have each bid successfully at auction for items of memorabilia related to the song's creation.

Transposed from the original key to exploit the range of the Tenor Sax, the tune is arranged for the Intermediate level player with only piano accompaniment. It would be a great addition to a recital or a church or social event, but it would be great for community events. This arrangement was premiered at a variety show starring the arranger. Next time someone asks if you'll play a song or two for the Lion's club, smile big and say, Absolutely.

   1. Avoid cheap 20-lb office supply paper. Invest a couple extra bucks in some 22- or 24-lb. paper.
   2. Avoid bright white sheets: look for beige, tan, or natural paper.
   3. Always use a smooth finish product.
