Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.575305 Composed by Giovanni Croce. Arranged by David Musgrove. Classical,Renaissance. Score and parts. 8 pages. David Musgrove #182964. Published by David Musgrove (A0.575305). Italian composer Giovanni Croce (1557-1609) was mostly prominent as a madrigalist, and a highly respected composer of his time. He produced less music in the choral style of the Gabrielis, which is perhaps why his music is less well known than theirs today. Generally lighter and clearer in texture than Giovanni Gabrieli, of whom he was an exact contemporary, his music nevertheless has much to offer audiences. 'Beati eritis' is a setting of two verses from St Matthew's account of Jesus's Sermon on the Mount, or Beatitudes. ' Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.' It sits very well on trombones, and will particularly suit a resonant acoustic. Item number: DM 2642 MP3 sound file is produced from Sibelius.

It is most unusual tohave timpani but no trumpets.3) 2nd movement halfway through, the descending viola line that needs to becompleted by a cellist. String Quartet String Quartet,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.530945 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Klas Krantz. Classical,Folk. Score and parts. 7 pages. Amadeus Music #2027379. Published by Amadeus Music (A0.530945). The origin of the tune was for a long time somewhat mysterious, as no other collector of folk tunes encountered it, and all known examples are descended from Ms. Ross’ submission to Petrie’s collection (1855). The title of the air comes from the name of the county located in Northern Ireland. The air was collected by Jane Ross of Limavady, County Londonderry, who heard it played by an itinerant piper or fiddler. The descendants of blind fiddler Jimmy McCurry assert that he is the musician from whom she transcribed the tune but there is no historical evidence to support this speculation. The tune was listed as an anonymous air, with a note attributing its collection to Jane Ross of Londonderry. This led to the descriptive title Londonderry Air being used for the piece

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553915 Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Wedding. 12 pages. RayThompsonMusic #6103441. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553915). La plus que lente, L. 121 The more than slow), is a waltz for solo piano written by Claude Debussy in 1910, shortly after his publication of the Préludes, Book I.The piece debuted at the New Carlton Hotel in Paris, where it was transcribed for strings and performed by the popular 'gipsy' violinist, Léoni, for whom Debussy wrote it (and who was given the manuscript by the composer).Despite its title, La plus que lente was not meant to be played slowly; lente, in this context, refers to the valse lente genre that Debussy attempted to emulate.Typical of Debussy's caustic approach to naming his compositions, it represented his reaction to the vast influence of the slow waltz in France's social atmospheres. However, as Frank Howes noted, La plus que lente is, in Debussy's wryly humorous way, the valse lente [slow waltz] to outdo all others. The work is marked Molto rubato con morbidezza, indicating Debussy's encouragement of a flexible tempo.Arranged for standard wind quintet.

Downloadable, Study score. Duration 10 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6297. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6297). Sur le même accord (about a single chord) is - as the subtitle suggests - a nocturne-like work. Although in one mouvement, at its centre are two expressive sections, which alternate with more rapid writing. The soloist plays a concertante role with the orchestra. In both the solo part and the orchestral texture, a six-note chord can be heard throughout the work, either concealed or more overtly, given to soloists drawn from the orchestra. At the start of the work, the solo violin announces these six pitches, first as a monody, then double-stopped; this material is then distributed vertically (played as a chord) by various instrumental groups. Mirror writing and different orchestral colours transform this chord, but it is omnipresent, an obsession. This relatively short work is dedicated to Anne-Sophie Mutter, to whom I was introduced by Paul Sacher about fifteen years ago. Since then, this great artist, who captivates so many composers, has unceasingly added to her repertoire music of our time by commissioning new works in many genres from contemporary composers. - Henry Dutilleux.

Cello and piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q53289 Duo brillant. Composed by Adrien-Francois Servais. Edited by Beverley Ellis and Rainer Mohrs. Arranged by Jacques Gregoir. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. 26 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53289. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53289). English • German.Adrien-Francois Servais was born on 6.6.1807 in Halle, Belgium and died there on 26.11.1866. From 1829 Servais taught cello in Brussels, where from 1848 he was a professor at the Conservatoire royal de musique. Concert tours across Europe earned him a high reputation as a virtuoso performer: he was described by Berlioz as the ‘Paganini of the cello’. The piano accompaniment is by the Belgian pianist Jacques Mathieu Joseph Gregoir (Grégoir), who was born in Antwerp on 19.1.1817 and died in Brussels on 29.10.1876. He studied with Henri Herz and Christian Rummel, both of whom worked with Schott as composers. Gregoir was a successful piano virtuoso and published several piano works with Schott. Together with Servais he made a collection of thirty arrangements of famous operatic melodies in the series Collection des Duos concertants, including works by Bellini, Mozart, Wagner und Verdi. The piano accompaniment here demands very full chords and can in places be difficult to play: as with a piano reduction, it can be simplified somewhat by leaving out a few notes here and there. The Duo brillant No. 10 on themes from Wagner’s opera Tannhäuser was published in 1861 (plate no. 16412).

Con Spirito Music #407381. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.800275). The “Old Hundredth†psalm/hymn tune earned its name from its association with a metrical setting of Psalm 100 by William Kethe (d. 1594), published in the Anglo-Genevan Psalter (1591). Kethe’s first stanza, based on Psalm 100, verses 1-2, reads: All people that on earth do dwell,Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice.Him serve with fear, His praise forth tell;Come ye before Him and rejoice. Thus, the “Old Hundredth†is popularly titled, “All People That on Earth Do Dwell.†It is also well-known as the tune for the doxology, “Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow.†The tune is attributed to the French music theorist and composer Louis Bourgeois (c. 1510-1559), who contributed a number of tunes to the Genevan Psalter of 1551.This arrangement is fitting as a short introit to a service of worship.©2013 Todd Marchand / www.conspiritomusic.com

Romantic Period. 14 pages. Peet du Toit #976937. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.1393426). Felix Mendelssohn's Wedding March in C major, written in 1842, is one of the best known of the pieces from his suite of incidental music (Op. 61) to Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream. It is one of the most frequently used wedding marches, generally being played on a church pipe organ. At weddings in many Western countries, this piece is commonly used as a recessional, though frequently stripped of its episodes in this context. It is frequently teamed with the Bridal Chorus from Richard Wagner's opera Lohengrin, or with Jeremiah Clarke's Prince of Denmark's March, both of which are often played for the entry of the bride. The first time that Mendelssohn's Wedding March was used at a wedding was when Dorothy Carew wed Tom Daniel at St Peter's Church, Tiverton, England, on 2 June 1847 when it was performed by organist Samuel Reay. However, it did not become popular at weddings until it was selected by Victoria, The Princess Royal for her marriage to Prince Frederick William of Prussia on 25 January 1858. The bride was the daughter of Queen Victoria, who loved Mendelssohn's music and for whom Mendelssohn often played while on his visits to Britain. An organ on which Mendelssohn gave recitals of the Wedding March, among other works, is housed in St Ann's Church in Tottenham.

Published by Misha Stefanuk (A0.502406). An American Story: George Gershwin is a brief, jazz-infused opera in one act on the subject of George Gershwin, one of America's greatest and most influential composers. Although fictional, most of the opera's story is based upon biographical facts and direct quotes from George Gershwin's interviews and other sources. In this show, the audience is given a brief glimpse at the music and style of 1920s, when George and his brother, the champion lyricist, Ira Gershwin, were first starting to experience great success the world over. Their Broadway shows were in high demand, and many of them were made into lucrative Hollywood movies. Their shows are still often performed today. An American Story opens with a scene in which George and Ira are working through a piece they have written and are discussing their successes of the past year, including George's appearance on the cover of Time magazine. The operagoes on to introduce two female characters including Kay Swift, who was a significant composer at the time, as well and a strong influence upon George.Gertrude Lawrence, the British singer for whom George and Ira Gershwin wrote the musical Oh, Kay! also appears later in the opera, when she rehearses with George. An American Story: George Gershwin is The New Opera's second work dedicated to popularizing the life stories of historical and cultural figures, following Wolfy, an opera focusing on the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This helps further The New Opera's mission to cultivate a growing interest in artistic and musical subjects for audiences of all ages and social levels and extend our enthusiasm for outstanding achievement in the arts.Complete You tube playlist can be found here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUIlJVpmilpf_2ikBsnqhccqxAa4Gyy2x

Alto Voice,Soprano voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1354327 By Steven Erekson. By Adolphe Charles Adam/Placide Cappeau. Arranged by Steven L. Erekson. Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Sacred,Spiritual. 6 pages. Steven L. Erekson #939042. Published by Steven L. Erekson (A0.1354327). Written for 1 saprano and 2 altos, this arrangment of Oh Holy Night was written upon request of a family member who had difficulty finding an arrangement for 3 female vocalists. 4 days later and with a day to spare before they left for holidays, the request was happily filled and the result as you see it here. It features two of the 3 verses with a reference to the most important phrase found in the origional's third verse. The chord structures at some points differ from what is commonly associated with this carol and a number of key changes attempt to keep things in a suitable range and entertain the singers with added difficulty, but mostly enables a reverent capture of the attention of the audience. The third verse was not included in full to keep the piece to a suitable length for settings of worship. To my surprise, some church services at Christmas time leave me un-fed. I keep longing for the reverence that should be and would have been felt in the presence of the newborn of whom this song speaks. There is glory and rejoicing in the arrival of the Christ, yes; I do not wish to overlook this aspect of the season, but the greater emphasis that I intended to accompany this arrangement is that of the often-lacking submissive reverence embodied in the concluding phrase; behold your King. The best way to bring the best verision of this piece is to vary the tempo throughout to create more emotion and exagerate the dynamic markings. Begin the piece with awe and contained anticipation, increase in majesty to reflect the praise of angels and the glory of the Christ, then sing as though you enter the place where He rests as you lead your audience thereto. A voice recording is in the works.
