Piano,Voice Duet Baritone Horn TC,Piano,Soprano voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1101414 Composed by Brett L. Wery. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Multicultural,World. 52 pages. Sonata Grendel Publishing #704802. Published by Sonata Grendel Publishing (A0.1101414). I. Hammering on Rocks text by Joseph Ross II. Normal text by Reginald Harris III. My Body Holds Stones text by Laura Tohe IV. The Museum of Stones text by Carolyn Forché. Quarry Songs were written as a project initiated by my long-time friend and colleague, Mark Evans. Mark and I have spent hundreds of hours rehearsing and performing together so when he asked me to participate in a project to create a song cycle as part of a residency at the Avaloch Farm Music Institute in New Hampshire, I said yes immediately. Joining us were former students, now colleagues, Areli Mendoza-Pannone (soprano) and Robert Frazier (baritone). During our residency at Avaloch, the trio and I organized Zoom meetings with the poets and work-shopped many sections of the songs. I am immensely grateful for the contributions Mark, Areli, and Bobby made to this piece. I am especially indebted to the four amazing poets for their powerful, inspiring poems. These are works of courage, honesty, and craftsmanship and I’m humbled by the writer’s trust and generosity as I attempt to add a dimension to their work that is worthy of the source. The poems represent varied American perspectives of the artifacts of human existence and the trajectory of our culture(s), the human capacity to grow numb to suffering, the weight and cost of identity—self imposed and projected—on ourselves, our nation, and our children. Most importantly the poems witness our power to change the world through art. These poems recall the courage of Nelson Mandela, the paralysis that comes with the twenty year old war in Afghanistan, the lasting wounds of inflicted upon children in boarding schools designed to eradicate native cultures, and the markers of war and suffering that call as much for hope as for remorse. I chose poets whose voices represent not only suppressed perspectives but also the voices of Americans born of privilege, willing to use the power of art to focus the readers’ minds on the rough truths of our shared history as Americans.

Violin Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1514913 Composed by Ave Asán. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Multicultural,World. 30 pages. Editorial Copistas Acuario #1089409. Published by Editorial Copistas Acuario (A0.1514913). ----------------------------------------------This piece is inspired by Suche Malinche, one of the characters of “El Gu?egu?ense o Macho Rato?n”, a Nicaraguan play and also Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. In this play, the Gu?egu?ense convinces Governor Tastuanes (Suche Malinche’s father) to marry the girl to one of his sons (Don Forcico). The Suche Malinche Prelude arises from the need to empower this woman, whose function in El Gu?egu?ense is to be an instrument to gain access to power. Neither her voice nor her will exist. That is why in the piece, La Suche (represented by the violinist) begins to question her silence, and prays to Guacha?n (San Sebastia?n, patron saint of Carazo); but instead of the saint, Quetzalco?atl appears to her, giving her courage and strength. Little by little she feels how her voice emerges, alternating with vowels and reiterated sounds, which are mixed with an impetuous violin, until she builds her speech and ends up saying: “Ya neme nequi nitipampa” (I am here, defending my cause.).

SATB choir, wind quintet and string quartet or piano - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.1.3438-E Composed by Z. Randall Stroope. Advanced/Collegiate. Secular, 21st Century, Creation/Nature. Score & instrument part. 24 pages. Duration 8 minutes, 25 seconds. Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital #1.3438-E. Published by Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital (MQ.1.3438-E). English.Northwest Passage is a set of “poetic landscapes†that reflects on three elements of the great Northwest of the United States—rivers, mountains, and prairies. Each sonic reflection (movement) combines to form a larger image, not unlike someone standing on a vista and seeing rivers, mountains, and prairies—each distinct, but part of one vast expanse. The work is scored for two versions: mixed chorus and piano, or mixed chorus, wind quintet, and string quartet. The harmonic vocabulary of the work maintains an uncomplicated, transparent (“organicâ€) approach in describing nature. The melodic vocabulary immediately pulls the listener's eye to the image, and rhythm is used as the underlying spark that is subtly ever changing and unpredictable. These three poetic landscapes should be performed without applause between movements.1. A Willow by the River|William Carlos Williams was a medical practitioner, pediatrician, and an avid writer. He wrote short stories, novels, plays, critical essays and, of course, poetry. The subjects of his writing were often “local†images, and he preferred to see the world “as it is,†without unnecessary trappings or “airs.†He was an important mentor to many younger poets of his day. “Willow Poem†(A Willow by the River) has no rhyme scheme but is comprised of fourteen individual lines. The willow is the focus of the poem (by its title and content) and how it never changes but will always “be.†The river represents, among other things, life quickly moving by and in a constant state of motion.2. Mountains|Marjorie Seiffert (who often used the pseudonyms Elijah Hay or Angela Cypher) led an incredibly full and balanced life. College introduced her to a world beyond her domestic and civic life and, as a result, she wanted to experience self-empowerment and independence. She prided herself in being a spouse, mother and maintaining a full slate of professional appearances and commissions for writing. Her poetry is vivid, keenly “visual,†and full of fast-paced, tightly woven ideas. “Mountain trails†(Mountains) was written at Glacier Park, Montana in September 1917.3. The Prairie|John Hay was an American statesman who was personal assistant to Abraham Lincoln. He also served as U. S. Secretary of State and Ambassador to Great Britain. He was a cultivated man of letters and wrote poetry which was straightforward in design and delivery. Nature was often the subject of his creative output. -Z. Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1032081 Composed by Doug Long. Arranged by Tim Addy. Folk,Holiday,Patriotic. Score. 3 pages. Tim Addy #4338813. Published by Tim Addy (A0.1032081). This patriotic piece was written to honor those who have been willing to sacrifice everything to fight for the freedoms that we all enjoy in the United States of America. The powerful words serve as a reminder to those of us who have not served in the Armed Forces that our freedom was bought with a heavy price and that we should be thankful for those who give up having a normal life to defend our great nation. The lyrics were composed by Opelika, Alabama resident, Doug Long, who was currently serving as Assistant to the Music Minister at Purpose Baptist Church in Opelika. The Music Minister at the time was Rev. Tim Addy, who put the words to music. .
