Floating Snowflakes is a wonderful Christmas arrangement which begins with an original Christmas melody, which is then merged with the Christmas carol The First Nowell. This composition is written for young string players who are beginning to experience the joy of playing in an orchestra.  The arrangement includes a third violin part as well as a piano part which can be used for rehearsal or for performance as well.  In addition, the Garth Williams has included the Scale of D Major, plus Rhythm and Melodic Patterns. Instructors can use these as  great warmups to the piece.

Jolly Old Saint Nick has always been a favorite at Christmas time. This arrangement in A Major is very easy and playable and can be ready for performance with minimal rehearsal time.  Written especially for young string students it will make your group sound fantastic and will without question be an excellent addition to your Christmas concert. Music does not have to be difficult to sound good. If you are looking for something playable and full sounding you found it in this string orchestra series for young players composed by a retired music teacher who actually worked with young players. You will find this composition keeps all instruments in 1st position and utilizes three part harmony that benefits ensembles lacking adequate instrumentation.  Viola and 2nd violin are doubled as are cello and contrabass. There can be as little as one player per part or placing numerous players on each part will obviously produce a bigger and fuller sound. If this composition appeals to you please consider the many others in this string series. Icicles Dripping For solo cello, written by Garth Williams begins with an original melody which, as the piece progresses, blends with the Christmas Carol Silent Night.  The technical requirements would be at a Suzuki Volume II difficulty level. The highlight to the piece is that the young musician learns to add numerous grace notes to this original Christmas melody.  One could think of the grace notes as the twinkling of the Christmas lights.
