Fenesta che lucive is a haunting, new rendition of the well-known Neapolitan text about the death of the lover's girl, Nenna. Gritty, and tragic, the text is masterfully set in a minor-key lament, with an unforgettable melody and strong dramatic contrasts. This piece would be a great addition to a student or faculty conservatory recital, or public performance of art songs or Italian (Neapolitan in this case) traditional popular songs (in the vein of Core 'ngrato, Torna a Surriento, O sole mio, etc.). This will be one of your favorites! This song appears on Gorton's album of art songs, Brimfull, available through his website (see below).

Endless Journey is a magical song about moving through life together, as in a boat on the sea. The Welcoming Earth suggests that even death will be a state of peace and comfort, far from the strife of human conflict. This song was written in a time of emotional turmoil. Beautiful and haunting, it capitalizes especially on the bass colors of the piano, and gives assurance of an eventual respite from all our troubles. Simple and accessible, this piece would be great as part of a set on a faculty or student recital, or a professional art song recital, especially as part of a set (see other Gorton compositions).
