Beautiful and haunting, it capitalizes especially on the bass colors of the piano, and gives assurance of an eventual respite from all our troubles. Simple and accessible, this piece would be great as part of a set on a faculty or student recital, or a professional art song recital, especially as part of a set (see other Gorton compositions).
