Choral 3-Part Mixed Chorus,Choir,Choral - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1424197

Composed by traditional Ugandan. Arranged by Peter Mugga, Steven Paxton. Multicultural,World. 12 pages. Creative Spirit #1005381. Published by Creative Spirit (A0.1424197).

DURATION: 2:00. KONIKONECO (3-Part Mixed chorus) is a traditional call-and-response song of the Teso people, who live in eastern Uganda and in western Kenya. The lyrics, from the Ateso language combined with borrowings from other languages and dialects, roughly translates as “Let us celebrate our schools, our learning, and our empowerment.” The piano accompaniment suggests the arpeggios typical of Ugandan hand-held harps (a’dungu). Other instruments, especially drums and shakers, may be added to the accompaniment, and the choral part itself includes body percussion in one section. (Also available for SATB or TTB chorus.).

Composed by David Catherwood. Broadway,Children,Musical/Show. Score. 323 pages. Opus 3 Music #6051989. Published by Opus 3 Music (A0.739501).

A great story about one of the 20th century’s greatest storytellers. Carefully researched, yet full of fun, this entertaining musical tells the story of the early part of CS Lewis' life from the time of his mother's death in 1908 until his arrival as a student at Oxford in 1916. (Throughout his life CS Lewis was always known as Jack) This new work was premiered at the end of 2019 at the annual CS Lewis Festival held in Ireland. (CS Lewis’ birthplace) It proved to be a great success and was very enthusiastically received. Synopsis Jack’s Journey is a whimsical re-imagining of the childhood journeys of CS Lewis - each of the seven songs representing a stop along the way to his eventual career as the writer of the Narnia Chronicles. The story is told through music relating his memories and significant episodes from his schooldays up to his entry into Oxford. Living almost entirely in his imagination as a small boy, the seeds of the world of Narnia are already beginning to grow in his writing and drawings. Little Lea, his childhood home, provides the setting for the early scenes. Following the death of his mother the young Jack has his first experience of school and England. He endures with fortitude the harsh regime of boarding school and begins to recognise the value of friendship, mutual support and the courage that children can show in adversity. He returns to Ireland and to Campbell College – a much more positive experience. Illness brings his attendance at Campbell to an end. Returning to Little Lea, Jack imagines the world of fairies and dwarves, a world beyond our own. He returns to school in England and comes under the influence of a variety of teachers. Expelled from Malvern, Jack next falls under the influence of his great mentor, Professor Kirkpatrick – the model for the Professor of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Jack’s Journey concludes with the anticipated arrival of a great hero, the hero of the first of the Narnian Chronicles, Aslan, the lion. ‘Jack’s Journey’ gives opportunity for young actors, (supported if desired by adults, taking the parts of the grown-ups.) There are short dramatic scenes, plenty of chorus work, opportunity for choreography and many solo spots for vocalists in the songs which are milestones in the story. List of Songs (the sample pages and mp3 file gives a chance to see and hear the first page of most of the songs) 1 Soft through the window 2 Kingdom of Mourne 3 Little Lea 4 Campbell Days - Boy to the left, Boy to the right 5 The Dandy's song 6 The Scholar's song 7 Strength and honour As will be evident from the above, there is plenty of flexibility regarding the scale of the performance. ‘Jack’s Journey’ may be staged using relatively modest outlay – for example, the premiere did not have a set because the venue for the performance was an actual railway station! The piece certainly allows for imaginative approaches to design and staging. In terms of the additional challenges presented by 2020 the length of the musical at 40 minutes helps in delivering a shorter theatrical experience. Also, the fully digital download of all performing materials allows for distribution via email Indeed the whole show could be effectively recorded and presented online as well as in person.

Program note.

I did my first foray into poems by the French surrealist Paul Éluard with a song cycle of eight poems from his Mourir de ne pas mourir. And now I am diving into his series of poems entitled, Répétitions. I found a beautiful little book of these poems with illustrations by Max Ernst. There are nine of these pen and ink drawings and I chose for the song cycle nine poems which were matched each with a Max Ernst illustration.

Apex Predator began life as all pieces do: With a small child who loves dinosaurs.
During a video chat with my nephew, Georgie, he very excitedly told me of the
Titanboa, the largest snake that ever existed. Having never heard of this monstrous
beast, I took to the internet, and after falling into a wormhole, stumbled upon an
article on apex predators.

When one thinks of apex predators, the top link in the food chain, the usual thought
goes to lions, tigers and bears, however, depending on the biome, apex predators
come in all sorts of species, sizes, speeds and colors. This disparity is what I hoped
to explore. The Bengal Tiger, the well-known hunter, stalking and pouncing its
prey; the alligator snapping turtle, wading in its muddy home, waiting for a chance
to strike; the majestic orca, king of the oceans; the golden eagle, with its brilliant
wingspan; and the Komodo dragon, the largest lizard on earth, with its poisonous
bite and shockingly fast speed.

Composed by Johann Speth. Arranged by Guido Menestrina. Baroque. Score. 6 pages. Guido Menestrina #115545. Published by Guido Menestrina (A0.828694).

Johann Speth (1664-1719) - Toccata Prima oder erstes musikalishes Blumen-Feld Transcribed by Guido Menestrina - youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8huOtZ9bQak From Wikipedia: Johann (Johannes) Speth (9 November 1664 – after 1719) was a German organist and composer. He was born in Speinshart, some 150 km from Nuremberg, but spent most of his life in Augsburg, where he worked as cathedral organist for two years. His only surviving music is a 1693 collection, Ars Magna Consoni et Dissoni, which includes toccatas, Magnificat versets and variations in south German style. Speth was born in Speinshart, Bavaria, to teacher Heinrich Speth and his wife Margareta (née Vichtl). Past scholars established that Speth must have received music lessons from the abbot of the Premonstratensian monastery at Speinshart, one Dominikus Lieblein, however, this has recently been disproven. Nothing is known about his life before 1692, when he applied for the position of organist of Augsburg Cathedral. The application, which contained Speth's compositions, was accepted, and he was appointed organist on 4 November 1692. The music he supplied with the application was published the next year in Augsburg as Ars magna Consoni et Dissoni. In the files of the cathedral administration there is a note from 1705 showing that Speth had also to work in the office of the cathedral chapter. The exact date of Speth's death is unknown, but there is a document that shows that in 1719, he still lived with his wife and a maidservant in Augsburg. The composer's only surviving work is the collection published in 1693 in Augsburg, Ars magna Consoni et Dissoni. The title may be a reference to Athanasius Kircher's famous book, Musurgia universalis, sive ars magna consoni et dissoni (1650). An early description of the work was included by Johann Gottfried Walther in his Musikalisches Lexicon; Walther claimed Speth only compiled the pieces but did not compose. This hypothesis is now generally considered false. Ars Magna contains music intended for organ or clavichord: 10 toccatas (subtitled Musicalische Blumen-Felder), 8 Magnificat settings, and three variation sets. The music has clearly traceable Italian influences, with direct borrowings: one of the variation sets is built on a theme by Bernardo Pasquini, there is also a passage from Bernardo Storace in the Spangioletta variation set, and a verset by Alessandro Poglietti (quinti toni no. 3). The influence of contemporary southern organists is also apparent, particularly that of Georg Muffat and Johann Caspar Ferdinand Fischer. The toccatas are unusually short for the genre; most consist of three (toccata-fugue-toccata) sections. There are some interesting features such as dynamic indications in Toccata quarta. The Magnificat settings are, like similar pieces by Johann Kaspar Kerll and others, short versets for alternatim practice.

to have been re-used by Handel - whose borrowings from his own works are numerous and well documented.

They are also suitable for pairs of oboes or clarinets or violins. They have been very lightly edited,

obvious wrong notes have been corrected, a few dynamic and decorative suggestions added in

Dreams About the Future

The reason for writing was the poems of K. D. Balmont, two lines of which Prokofiev chose as an epigraph: “In every fleeting moment I see worlds, full of changing rainbow playâ€. In 1940-42, the famous avant-garde artist Alexander Rodchenko created a series of drawings illustrating “Fleetingnessâ€.“Fleetingness†is initially the author’s sketches, sketches, blanks, so to speak, a test of the pen, when musical images are created using minimal means and the search for one’s own language, a certain mood is conveyed, small picturesque etudes are drawn, paintings are also searched for and the possibility of conveying an almost theatrical action exclusively musical techniques. A little later, when a fair number of these short pieces had accumulated, Prokofiev added a few more, bringing the total number to 20. It was then that this suite was compiled, as an example of one of the first attempts to find a new style in music, which would later be called minimalism. Undoubtedly, the impetus for the creation of this 22nd opus was the piano preludes of Debussy, who had a huge influence on the subsequent development of academic music in the 20th century. My task in the orchestral transcription of this suite was, first of all, to make each sketch of this cycle visible using the means of a symphony orchestra. For this purpose, I initially provided each number of this suite with a specific name, in order to somehow indicate the path and arouse the imagination of the listeners. (As is known, only one piece of this cycle had a specific author's title - #7, Harp) Having started work on the orchestration, I had in advance the goal of addressing this arrangement to young musicians and young listeners.

Originally written for the television show Steven Universe, this light bossa nova shines with a melancholy optimism about transitioning to a brighter future and becoming more fully who you are. Set for SATB vocals plus rhythm section, Being Human is a relatively simple arrangement that starts unison and gradually expands to full four part harmony. Furthermore, the chord changes are easy for a new rhythm section to master, making this a great selection for a beginning jazz choir looking for a manageable bossa nova, or a more experienced jazz choir looking to develop group singing, soloing, and and how to convey a musical message.

The Artist is a 2011 French[nb 1] comedy-drama film[nb 2] in the style of a black-and-white silent film or part-talkie. The film was written and directed by Michel Hazanavicius, produced by Thomas Langmann and stars Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo. The story takes place in Hollywood, between 1927 and 1932, and focuses on the relationship between a rising young actress and an older silent film star as silent cinema falls out of fashion and is replaced by the talkies.

The Artist received widespread critical acclaim and won many accolades. Dujardin won Best Actor at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, where the film premiered. The film was nominated for six Golden Globes, the most of any 2011 film, and won three: Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Original Score, and Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for Dujardin. In January 2012, the film was nominated for twelve BAFTAs, the most of any film from 2011, and won seven, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor for Dujardin, and Best Original Screenplay for Hazanavicius.

It was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won five, including Best Picture, Best Director for Hazanavicius, and Best Actor for Dujardin, making him the first French actor ever to win in this category. It was also the first French-produced film to win Best Picture, and the first mainly silent film to win since 1927's Wingswon at the 1st Academy Awards in 1929. It was also the first film presented in the 4:3 aspect ratio to win since 1953's From Here to Eternity. Additionally, it was the first black-and-white film to win since 1993's Schindler's List, though the latter contained limited colour sequences; it was the first 100% black-and-white film to win since 1960's The Apartment.

In France it was nominated for ten César Awards, winning six, including Best Film, Best Director for Hazanavicius, and Best Actress for Bejo. The Artist has received more awards than any other French film.
