Choir - Digital Download SKU: A0.1071141 Composed by Greg Bartholomew. Christian,Contemporary,Jewish,Sacred. Full Performance. Duration 300. Burke & Bagley #2880405. Published by Burke & Bagley (A0.1071141). This is the second of Greg Bartholomew's three choral settings of text From the Odes of Solomon, as recorded by the Ars Brunensis Chorus.  The Odes of Solomon are believed to have been written around the year 100 A.D., and include strong parallels to the Dead Sea Scrolls. Scholars have debated whether the Odes should be considered Jewish, Christian or Gnostic, and whether they were first written in Greek, Hebrew or Syriac. Early Christian writings refer to and quote from them. A Syriac manuscript containing the text of most of the Odes was discovered in 1909 by the English scholar J. Rendel Harris, and other partial texts in various languages have also been found. There are 42 Odes. Some fragments are still missing from Odes I and III, and no part of Ode II has yet been found. For these choral settings, I selected text from four of the Odes of Solomon which I found particularly compelling. From the Odes of Solomon was premiered in concert on June 2, 2002, by the Ars Brunensis Chorus under the direction of conductor Roman Valek and choirmaster Dan Kalousek at the Husov Sbor, in Brno, Czech Republic. For more information:  www.gregbartholomew.com/odesindex.html

Juan Maria Solare #6661277. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596633). Zerzura, for solo flute. Music by Juan María Solare. Zerzura (Arabic: زرزورة – the accentuation is therefore on the u: zerzúra) was a mythical city or oasis supposedly located deep in the desert west of the Nile River in what is now Egypt or Libya. In writings dating from the 13th century, there is mention of a city that is as white as a dove and it was called the Oasis of the small birds. The music of this flute solo has a certain Arabic character, hence its title. This piece was composed in Worpswede and Bremen on 17 and 25 August 2021. Duration: 3:30 Zerzura is dedicated to Esperanza Domingo Gil, who premiered it at the concert on 23 November 2021 at the theatre of the University of Bremen (Germany). Zerzura, by Juan María Solare, premiere by Esperanza Domingo Gil Zerzura, für Flöte solo. Zerzura, by Juan María Solare, premiere by Esperanza Domingo Gil Zerzura, para flauta sola. Oboe, basson, violin, viola, double bass - Digital Download SKU: IZ.BCMW164 Composed by Chun-Wai Wong. BCMCC (Bassoon Chamber Music Composition Competition). Score and Parts. 77 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #BCMW164. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.BCMW164). 9 x 12 in inches. What is life for? Wealth? Power? Happiness? Are you really feeling happy with your pursuits? Or would you just go ontirelessly? Do you really feel happy when chasing after those things? And what will you get by the end of your life?I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind. (Ecclesiastes 1:14)The piece is inspired by the book of Ecclesiastes from the Bible. Musically, it is inspired by a traditional Japanese theatricalperformance Kabuki. It is purely musical theatre: the piece unfolds with the wheezing of hollowness of work and life, andit is followed by a wild dance of chase -- a chase after fame and fortune in hopes of getting rid of the depression. Yet, thestruggle only brings fleeting pleasure and pressing anxiety to chase after another goal. Feeling exhausted, one realizes thatwhat one has done are all meaningless: the hollowness never goes away. Only after a hoarse cry does one start to realize themeaning of life, a meaning that transcends all materialistic goals; and only after understanding the reason to live can one take abreath of life. There are references to traditional Japanese instrumental writings, including the sound of Shamisen imitated by pizzicato instrings, drum imitated by pizzicato chords and beating of strings on fingerboard, Japanese flute imitated by the high oboe. Theshifting focus between different musical layers represents the movement of the imaginary dancer who moves forward andbackward on the stage unceasingly.ABreath of Life was commissioned by the Hong Kong Composers' Guild.

Small Ensemble Bass Drum,Choir,Djembe,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.898223 Composed by Beret Finken. Contemporary,Folk,New Age,World. Score and parts. 19 pages. Beret Finken #4103179. Published by Beret Finken (A0.898223). Composer's NoteThe first dream I ever remember having was the piercing, white gaze of a fox staring out at me from the darkness. I was terrified, yet strangely intrigued. Since then, dreams have inspired many of my other creative writings and ideas. As for the language, I took beginner's Norwegian my senior year of college and find it easiest to grasp a language when I am able to write in it. This piece is meant to sound similar to an old Nordic folk ballad. Copyright © 2018 Beret Finken. To learn more about the composer and her work, visit beretfinken.com.

Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1408429 Composed by Georges Bizet. Arranged by Dan Jones www.danjonesguitarist.com. 19th Century,Classical,Opera. 21 pages. DanJonesGuitarist #991016. Published by DanJonesGuitarist (A0.1408429). Habanera (L'amour est un oiseau rebelle)by Georges Bizet. Arranged for Four Guitars by Dan Joneswww.danjonesguitarist.comI have provided a score with notes and TAB, a score with notes only (to facilitate directors' page turns) and all parts with notes and TAB or just notes.L'amour est un oiseau rebelle (Love is a rebellious Bird) or Habanera is one of opera's most popular arias. The melody was actually written by the Spanish musician Sebastián Iradier. Bizet mistakenly believed it to be a folk melody but was quick to credit the original author upon being informed of its origin.  Iradier had a gift for creating popular melodies as he also wrote the beautiful La Paloma. This arrangement employs a variety of timbres and the full range of the instruments. Guitars 3 & 4 are tuned to D and Guitar 1 has the option of playing up to a high A (fret 17), although this passage is equally effective played an octave lower (see note in score). I have provided a score with notes and TAB, a score with notes only (to facilitate directors' page turns) and all parts with notes and TAB or just notes. A video performance of this arrangement is available on YouTube or at www.danjonesguitarist.comFor a huge range of writings, arrangements, compositions and much more, for guitarists of all levels of experience, please visit www.danjonesguitarist.comI hope you enjoy playing Habanera as much as I have enjoyed arranging and performing it.

Mezzo-soprano voice and piano - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8460-7E Composed by Gwyneth W. Walker. Secular, 21st century. 3 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8460-7E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8460-7E). English. The poetry of Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) is especially appealing due to the wide range of topics, diversity of mood and peculiar imagination of the poet. The writings are reflective, passionate, witty, sensuous, observant, and ridiculously humorous. Her heart soars. Her mind pokes fun! Emily was truly a New Englander. Her poems are understated and compact. Her love of Nature focuses on small things- birds, bees, meadows and a pond.In creating the musical settings, the composer (herself a New Englander) endeavored to capture the spirit of the poetry, and of the poet, with songs diverse in style, and concise in form. Everything from romance to frogs is explored, briefly.Great delight is taken in creating musical translations of the colorful imagery: the letters floating off on the breeze (My Letter to the World); the shimmering moonlight (The Moon and the Sea); a frog croaking in a bog (The Frog in the Bog); hopeful birds hopping about (Hope with Feathers); the boat of passion riding the waves and then settling into its mooring (Passion); the ship's cannon firing in celebration (Joy); and the tiniest, lightest gifts of Nature (All I Have to Bring). These are the poet's Letters to the World. She lived as a recluse, yet her words took flight-traveling the universe as messengers of the soul. Duration: 14:00.
