This selection, Carol of the Bells, also known as Ring, Christmas Bells, is suitable for high school and college students and is perfect for Christmas concerts and church services. Carol of the Bells' was written by the Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych in 1914 with lyrics by Peter J. Wilhousky. The song is based on the Ukrainian folk chant Shchedryk, a New Year's song, known in English as The Little Swallow, and utilizes a four-note ostinato which brings to mind the ringing of bells. Originally intended to be sung a capella by a mixed four-part choir it has since been recorded into over 150 versions and re-arrangements for various vocal and instrumental compositions. One version, Ring, Christmas Bells, an English-language variant with Nativity-based lyrics, was written by Minna Louise Hohman in 1947. Regis Bookshar has now arranged the music for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 2 Trumpets, 1 French Horn and 2 Trombones. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (16 pages). In addition to this version for a Brass Quintet, many other arrangements of this selection are also available for a variety of instrumental ensembles, including Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets, as well as numerous other selections in a wide variety of styles. Large Ensemble Flute,Hand Percussion,Marimba,Piano,Triangle - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1010668 Composed by Zachary C. Daniels. Contemporary. Score and parts. 18 pages. Divisi Labs #2062381. Published by Divisi Labs (A0.1010668). Descent to Madness is a work written to feature flute accompanied by prepared piano, marimba, and assorted percussion that was composed by on commission from a colleague, Emily Keeling, for a capstone recital. This piece explores and pushes musical confines, clearly innovating preconceived boundaries for piano and flute alike. The opening melody is written in a more classical style with some twists that foreshadow the rest of the piece. The piano part descends with the flute as if the flute is descending and dragging the pianist down with it. The flute solo adds more complexity and extended techniques as the piece progresses, further simulating more folly as the flutist departs from classical styles of playing and descends into a state of compositional madness. The end is the acceptance of having descended and, in the end, acceptance of a new beginning.

Choral Choir,Choral (SAB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.857396 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Benson Kwan. Baroque,Christian,Christmas,Easter,Wedding. 6 pages. Humilis #3881435. Published by humilis (A0.857396). Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring is the most common English title of a piece of music derived from a chorale setting of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben, BWV 147 (Heart and Mouth and Deed and Life), composed by Johann Sebastian Bach in 1723. The English version of the piece was written by the poet laureate Robert Bridges. It is not a translation of the stanzas used within Bach's original version, but is inspired by stanzas of the same hymn that Bach had drawn upon: Jesu, meiner Seelen Wonne, the lyrics of which were written in 1661 by Martin Janus (or Jahn), and which was sung to Johann Schop's 1642 Werde munter, mein Gemüte hymn tune.It is often performed slowly and reverently at wedding ceremonies, as well as during Christian festive seasons like Christmas and Easter. This arrangement is a shortened version of the piece, now slightly longer than 2 minutes -- which is perfect for wedding/Mass entrance. For the keyboard line, harpsichord is recommended, but an organ or a piano will also do.Included: score (5 pages), choir vocal part (1 page), cello part (1 page)Performance clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmG4wc75nXE

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.841364 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn, Samuel Arnold, and William H. Cummings. Arranged by Michele Galvagno. Christian,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 18 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #6098157. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.841364). This year's Christmas publication choice fell on a song very dear to me: Hark! The herald angels sing. The text, inspired by Luke’s Gospel (2:14), appears for the first time in a collection of Christmas carols called Hymns and Sacred Poems in 1739, jointly written by Charles Wesley (1707-1788 ) and George Whitefield (1714-1770), two of the founding members of the Methodist movement. The version we know today is the one adapted by William H. Cummings (1831-1915) from the section Vaterland, in deinen Gauen of the Festgesang zum Gutenbergfest, WoO 9, by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-1847). The story, however, is more complex and articulated than that. The original version of the text, written by Wesley, bearing the title Hymn for Christmas-Day, had received only slow and solemn music for its verses, music now almost completely discarded. Also, his original opening lines were Hark! How all the welkin rings / Glory to the King of Kings .The version that has been passed to us is the result of alterations made by different hands, especially those of Whitefield, who changed the initial couplet into the one we know today. In 1840-one hundred years after the publication of Hymns and sacred Poems-Mendelssohn composed a cantata commemorating Johann Gutenberg’s invention of movable-type printing. The English musician William H. Cummings finally adapted Mendelssohn’s music around 1855 in order to fit the music to the verses and give it its present look.In this edition we propose the version that every listener expects to hear when reading the title on the programme and, immediately after, one of the few original versions that have reached us in their entirety, that is the one set to music by Samuel Arnold (1740-1802) and available today in The British Minstrel, and Musical and Literary Miscellany, vol. 3, published in 1843.The proposed instrumentations are those of the classical string quartet and the cello quartet. Both variants are very simple to perform and are certainly suitable for small string ensembles formed in musical schools. In the cello quartet version, the only relatively complex part is that of the first cello, which should be left to the teacher or to a student able to play up to the 7th position without excessive troubles.I hope this music can bring you the serenity that made me prepare it.

Piano,Tenor Saxophone - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.810149 Composed by Anonymous, John Newton, and William Walker. Arranged by Daniel C. M. Christian,Concert,Standards,World. Score and part. 3 pages. Daniel C. M. #5224021. Published by Daniel C. M. (A0.810149). This arrangement is based on the original publication from William Walker's Southern Harmony where the music is basically a 3 voices choral and this arrangement is almost just a transcription to saxophone and piano. The melody has little changes as the way it is interpreted today but keeps almost the same harmony from the original. It is written in a straight easy way for players to enjoy. Although the title of the piece comes from the hymn written by John Newton this is only an instrumental arrangement.

Woodwind Ensemble Clarinet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813368 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Instructional,Multicultural,Standards,World. 41 pages. Regis Bookshar #6209733. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813368). Clarinet Quintet - Advanced - Digital Download. This must-have arrangement would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals and could also be performed for church services. This brilliant work by Johann Sebastian Bach is an adaptation of Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins and String Orchestra in B minor. Bach had gotten to know Vivaldi's concertos while he was an organist at Weimar, where he transcribed ten of them for solo harpsichord and six of them for organ. Originally written in B minor, Bach transposed it to A minor and, while preserving the melodic outline as conceived by Vivaldi for four violins, this later adaptation, from around 1730, for four harpsichords and string orchestra, is far more ambitious. In it, Bach has both tightened and expanded Vivaldi's counterpoint, enriched it with lusher harmonies and expanded the solo parts with greater complexity and greater clarity. The result is a composition that actually improves on the original work. Written in the standard three-movement concerto form of the Baroque period, Bach's Concerto for Four Claviers in A minor is a virtuoso piece for the soloists. Regis Bookshar has now rearranged the first movement of this concerto, marked Allegro, for a Clarinet Quintet, while maintaining the energy and virtuosity of Bach's original work. This arrangement is intended to be performed by accomplished players and may prove to be a huge challenge for many players, but, I think, it will be worth the effort. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (41 pages). In addition to this version for 5 Clarinets, other arrangements of this selection are also available for a variety of Instrumental Quintets, some of which are in the original key of Concert A minor and some have been transposed to Concert G minor, making it a little easier for some performers, as well as numerous other arrangements in a wide variety of styles. I would encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. You may find something else which might interest you as well. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement will be a challenge to many performers but will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed working on it.
