I Love You Truly is based on the 1906 hit pop song by Carrie Jacobs-Bond; a song which was the #1 wedding song for over 50 years.  I have created an arrangement with 4 variations with each variation getting further from the original theme and each progressing further into jazz.  Variation I - I utilize rich chords of the ballads of that period while keeping the sung melody close to the original.  Variation II - I rhythmically augment the melody, simplify the texture, and add chromatic passing tones and progressions.  Variation III - I set this in stride jazz with syncopated riffing in the melody.  Variation IV - I make this one a slower, bolder jazz with various triplet patterns on fragments of melody and a strong jazz chord progression based on fifths.  This is a gentle jazzy update to the most popular wedding song of all time; perfect for any wedding today, whether vintage or modern.

I've attempted to create a really dramatic version of this iconic song.  Taking elements from the original it's arranged here to include alternative harmonies.  The end is really great and a challenge for the second violinist.  Think Beethoven Harp Quartet!

After playing for many years in string quartet groups, I have found that many arrangements lack any kind of inventiveness and are often not rewritten with string players in mind.  In this arrangement you'll find challenging sections and rhythmic interest that I hope translates into a well arranged piece of music.

This a medley of two older, patriotic songs; both are public domain songs. A little bit of Columbia's history:  In the early years of our country's founding, the name was synominous with the United States of America; hense, our nation's capital - The District of Columbia. Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean' is a United States patriotic song which was popular during the mid-19th and early 20th centuries, especially during the Civil War era.  It functioned as an unofficial national anthem in competition with Hail, Columbia and The Star-Spangled Banner until the latter's formal adoption as the national anthem of the United States in 1931. 
IT'S A GRAND OLD FLAG  is more widely known; most folks sang it in elementary school.

This is a beautiful March Composed in 2016 as a way the mark the first 25 years of the Century. The March begins with a 5 measure opener followed by the main theme until a middle section begins with on beat eighth notes for the harmony. La Majeste (from Heroic Music) - Georg Philipp Telemann - Trumpet Quintet, Timpani - Intermediate - Digital Download.

Heroic Music (or Heldenmusik) is a suite of twelve short marches and processionals, written by Georg Philipp Telemann in 1728, and is associated with various attributes of Heroism such as Dignity, Bravery and Alertness. All twelve movements have now been transcribed and arranged by Regis Bookshar to be played by Trumpet Quintets or Brass Quintets. Some have also been arranged for Sextets, Septets, Octets, Nonets and Brass Choirs. Some also include a Timpani. They can be purchased individually, or, if you prefer, as a complete set of all twelve at a huge saving.
Any of these selections would be a wonderful addition to any music library. They are perfectly suited to recitals and public performances, can stand alone as short interludes and are generally well received by audiences. They are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these arrangements. These selections are some of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. In the past, these compositions have often been performed by a soloist playing on a Piccolo Trumpet, but these new arrangements are Bb Trumpet friendly as one player stated after reading through them, making them much easier for most high school students.
This selection, La Majeste (from Heroic Music), is arranged for a Trumpet Quintet and Timpani, is in the Key of Concert Bb, and is associated with the heroic quality of Dignity. There is also a version written in the Key of C, if you would prefer. There is also a version without the Timpani. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (16 pages).
Many of these selections are readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. This arrangement adapted for viola quartet was designed to make its listeners weep with emotion, because the adaptation preserves the original essence of the work, keeping its integrity faithful to what Beethoven wanted to transmit, with only a slight change in tone and addition of harmonic resources in the structure of the arrangement. Even though it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion, being intended for beginner students who want to immerse themselves in the universe of romantic music, and nothing better than starting with the transitional composer of this period, which also does not prevent professional teachers from using it for recitals, academic presentations or didactic material in their classes as an ensemble practice.

Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C minor sharp, Op. 27, No. 2, is one of his most popular compositions and was an audience favorite even in his day. Written when Beethoven was 31, the Moonlight Sonata (Mondscheinsonate in German) was composed after he finished some commissioned works, but there is no evidence that he was hired to write this work. It did not receive its nickname until 1832, five years after Beethoven's death. It was the critic Ludwig Rellstab who compared the music to a moonlighting on Lake Lucerne. This comparison was adopted as a nickname for the work. Called Quasi una fantasia by the author - like its companion Op. 27, No. 1 - the piece was completed in 1801 and dedicated the following year to one of the composer's pupils. Beethoven chose to open the sonata with a slow, hypnotic arpeggio movement, the best known of the entire work. The dotted rhythm of its minimal melody evokes the tradition of 'Trauermusik' (funeral music).
